May 6, 2006 - 7 nite Western - Anyone Crusing?

Boo-hoo in Chicagoland!!! No docs here! I did get my new passporter yesterday. Ordered it late Tuesday night and received it Thursday morning. Yea! Also got some stuff I ordered from Oriental Trading today too...and spent the morning trying to design a tshirt for us and the families that we are cruising with. I truly am so excited I am driving myself crazy!!

Have a wonderful Easter weekend everyone!

After a lovely visit, MIL is on her way to the airport with DH, which means, of course:

The guest room is mine, mine, mine, MINE, MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay:

I'll be dragging the suitcases out today and setting things aside. I got a little shopping done with MIL yesterday. Lane Bryant had great summery shirts on sale for all of $13, so I picked up a few, and I got one of those feminine torture devices that squishes everything back where it used to be. It's actually pretty comfortable and allows me to both move and breathe in my formal, so I'll take it, even though I haven't given up on the idea of miraculously dropping 30 pounds in the next 3 weeks. It's doable, right?

No docs out this way yet, but I'm sure to be on red alert all week waiting for them. We filled out everything on line as well. That was such a great idea on DCL's part. Hopefully that keeps lines in the terminal under control!

Everyone have a great day and a wonderful Easter! :goodvibes

TITANIC SINKS: April 15, 1912

At 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, the British ocean liner Titanic sinks into the North Atlantic Ocean about 400 miles south of Newfoundland, Canada. The massive ship, which carried 2,200 passengers and crew, had struck an iceberg two and half hours before. On April 10, the RMS Titanic, one of the largest and most luxurious ocean liners ever built, departed Southampton, England, on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. The Titanic was designed by the Irish shipbuilder William Pirrie and built in Belfast, and was thought to be the world's fastest ship. It spanned 883 feet from stern to bow, and its hull was divided into 16 compartments that were presumed to be watertight. Because four of these compartments could be flooded without causing a critical loss of buoyancy, the Titanic was considered unsinkable. While leaving port, the ship came within a couple of feet of the steamer New York but passed safely by, causing a general sigh of relief from the passengers massed on the Titanic's decks. On its first journey across the highly competitive Atlantic ferry route, the ship carried some 2,200 passengers and crew. After stopping at Cherbourg, France, and Queenstown, Ireland, to pick up some final passengers, the massive vessel set out at full speed for New York City. However, just before midnight on April 14, the RMS Titanic failed to divert its course from an iceberg and ruptured at least five of its hull compartments. These compartments filled with water and pulled down the bow of the ship. Because the Titanic's compartments were not capped at the top, water from the ruptured compartments filled each succeeding compartment, causing the bow to sink and the stern to be raised up to an almost vertical position above the water. Then the Titanic broke in half, and, at about 2:20 a.m. on April 15, stern and bow sank to the ocean floor.Because of a shortage of lifeboats and the lack of satisfactory emergency procedures, more than 1,500 people went down in the sinking ship or froze to death in the icy North Atlantic waters. Most of the 700 or so survivors were women and children. A number of notable American and British citizens died in the tragedy, including the noted British journalist William Thomas Stead and heirs to the Straus, Astor, and Guggenheim fortunes. One hour and 20 minutes after Titanic went down, the Cunard liner Carpathia arrived. The survivors in the lifeboats were brought aboard, and a handful of others were pulled out of the water. It was later discovered that the Leyland liner Californian had been less than 20 miles away at the time of the accident but had failed to hear the Titanic's distress signals because its radio operator was off duty.Announcement of details of the tragedy led to outrage on both sides of the Atlantic. In the disaster's aftermath, the first International Convention for Safety of Life at Sea was held in 1913. Rules were adopted requiring that every ship have lifeboat space for each person on board, and that lifeboat drills be held. An International Ice Patrol was established to monitor icebergs in the North Atlantic shipping lanes. It was also required that ships maintain a 24-hour radio watch. On September 1, 1985, a joint U.S.-French expedition located the wreck of the Titanic lying on the ocean floor at a depth of about 13,000 feet. The ship was explored by manned and unmanned submersibles, which shed new light on the details of its sinking.

Now - - -who's worried about a few pounds??? I'm FAT and I'll deal with it!!
Happy Easter all,

Happy Easter :teeth:

I read somewhere you could call Disney Cruiseline the week before and they could tell you, but this is the list of movies that were shown the last week of March on the Western Cruise. (Ya'd think a Western cruise would have a John Wayne movie or two wouldn't ya??? :3dglasses

Sky High (PG)
Herbie Fully Loaded (G)
Casanova (R)
Eight Below (PG)
Glory Road (PG-13)
Narnia (PG)

I didn't know they showed "R" rated films. :confused3 I guess Michael Eisner still has influence in some areas. Too bad. :sad2:

No tickets yet in south Alabama. We don't get UPS on weekends. (We only get daylight four days a week most of the time!?) :sunny:

Good luck all you folks trying to loose weight. I love to watch other people exercise!! :Pinkbounc (I'm thinking about buying one of those horns that beeps when you back up!! Maybe I could get it to play "Makes no difference who you are.") pooh:

As to luggage labels, remember to label your luggage inside and out. Every bag should have a luggage tag. The airline will usually supply a paper tag if you need it. ALWAYS include some form of identification inside the bag, too, in case you lose the outer tag. (Or maybe a small child.) You can make a personalized luggage tag at www(dot)passporter(dot)com/wdw/luggagelog(dot)htm. :surfweb:

Have an "Egg"cellent weekend everybody!

How many desserts will I eat :cake:

Well my smile was a bit wavery this morning when ds's school goes "he can't be gone for a week!" I calmly explained that I had requested this (yes, don't you love that we have to request to take our children out of school?) over two months ago when I first knew about the cruise and they were ok with it. Finally, the principal comes over and says "Oh yeah, we're good with it, he just has to bring us each back a t-shirt! " :teeth: Good thing he goes to a small school, although we need to work on their communication.

So now I can focus on continuing packing.
Here i thought i was going to pack so lightly...I have FIVE pairs of sandals and can't decide between them! :rotfl:

DH just called to tell me that our cruise documents have arrived!!!! :cool1:  :cheer2:

I got my docs today too. But I have a question, I filled out my forms online, finished about a week or 2 ago, did everyone who did it online get a letter stating so? Also, if I did it online, do I have to do it again and use the ones in the booklet?

Glad to hear everyone at least seemed to have a good Easter. I cooked my heart out, well so did DH. He did the turkey and ham, I just clean up after it. But now that that is over I can get on with more pressing things, like buying myself clothes!

Hey, Pearlieq, what was thing called that made you look like a model? I think I need one to get into my black dress. My "bum" is making mine look alittle on the mini skirt length. I won't be able to bend or sneeze with it on without mooning someone. I'm with you on wishing away more pounds, I would be happy with another 15. I think I'm heading back to Curves tonight, too many goodies left in this house.

I watched some of the Magic sailing away on Saturday. I had too much to do to watch the whole thing, but it was awesome to see.

I'm smiling, but my smile would go from :) to :teeth: if my docs would come! I'm sure the neighbors think I'm nuts with the way I'm watching the front porch!

Glad things worked out at the school, Lisa. I agree with you--that's nuts! Since he keeps coming home with you, one would assume you're the parent, eh?

mazzarafe--here's a link to the monstrosity I bought: http://lanebryant.charmingshoppes.com/Shopping/product.aspx?product_id=LPCR0009&nav=

I'm warning you, though, it's not for the faint of heart! DH said it looked like a wetsuit.

Glad to hear everyone had a nice Easter!!!

Pearlieq - you are too funny! I have not gotton my docs yet either, so you aren't the only one! I've already checked my front door 3x today and get a little rise in my heartbeat when I see a UPS or FEDEX truck! Sad isn't it?

We had a lovely Easter brunch but I ate WAY too much and I'm still full today, even after doing 60 min of intense cardio! Oh well... Maybe I'll have to buy one of those contraptions myself. Perhaps it would push everything from my thighs, buns, and belly upwards and I'd actually look like I had a chest or cleavage? :lmao:

Heather

I just talked with my TA. My cruise docs were sent from DCL to her on the 14th. She will overnight them to me when she receives them. Looks like I won't be seeing mine till late in the week. bummer... Although, maybe the delay is because they decided to upgrade me at the last minute??? :thumbsup2 One can dream right?

Pearlieq, that is definately something you put on and don't take it off until it is staying off! ;) Sure does look like it would work though...guess I'll be taking a trip to the nearest Lane Bryant. :thumbsup2

I did make it back to curves, used the ecliptic (sp?) machine for 20 minutes. Burned 317 calories, about 1/2 of one of the 2 manicotti I had for dinner.

Heather, actually I like your positive thoughts for the push up effect of the "wet suit." And keep the dream alive for a upgrade, cause I didn't take your chance away from you. :sad2:

You would think..right? Actually his school is pretty good for the most part, but right now i am so on edge for everything to go perfect (ok, well not perfect, but close) that any little hiccup like this is sending me for a loop. Honest, I am normally a very relaxed type person. :teeth:

pearlieq:
Holy smokes, that contraption looks like just what I need! You think Lane Bryant will wonder why the sudden run on those? :rotfl: I so have not lost the weight I wanted to, and that may be my answer. ;)

hang tough to all who haven't rec'd docs yet, we still have 19 days.

Lisa
