DS has asked to have a underwater video camera? Does anyone have recommendations? I always find prices in the US so much lower for electronics and I'll have an opportunity to pick something up before we set sail :)

Not really recommendation, so this may be worthless to you :lmao: I've been procrastinating/researching on a digital underwater camera. Several have video option. The Kodak line is lower in price, and they have an underwater video camera (not sure about HD though), but with Kodak announcing they are pulling out of the digital market, the prices have gone up to about US $100.00 (I should have just pulled the trigger when Kim told me about them ) and manufacturer support will end at some point in th future. In all honesty, now I wish that when I bought my point and shoot Lumix before our first cruise, I had just gone with a waterproof version. The Lumix T3 (I think that's the model) also has HD video and is waterproof. Now, I am either going to have to carry 2 cameras, or just suck it up and buy the Lumix, even though my other Lumix is only 18 months old. I've also looked at the Cannon, but I already know how the Lumix works :rolleyes1.

Just stuff to consider if you think he/you might want more than just an underwater HD video camera.

We'll see you there :) I am bringing my Dad for his 65th birthday to Disneyworld before the cruise for the first time and I can't wait, he'll be there with his grandkids and his child for the first time, talk about MAGICAL!

I am going to get him one of those "My 1st Trip to Disneyworld" T-shirt

I think that it is so cool that you are taking your dad to The World be fore the cruise. We will be down there the whole week prior to the cruise. I love the face my DD made when she saw the castle for the first time. I love seeing the faces of little children when the enter The World for the first time. I would love to see your dads face when you guys get there.

Awww thanks! I almost cry everytime I think of the first times my children walked onto Main Street and saw the castle...I will video Dad's reaction :)

Kim - I was just thinking about you this morning, did you give your camera the dunk test yet? I'm still pondering and wondered if you had tried it underwater to see if it would leak? (some of the reviews said that they had leaks, but got a replacement camera).

Jenny- no I haven't dunked it yet.......scared to incase it leaks!:scared1: OK! I will stop being so silly and go and do it tonight and will report back to you tomorrow!:thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes I'll let you be the guineapig

I posted a few months ago that my DD is looking to hang out with another girl on the cruise. We met a family with a girl her age on here for our last cruise. I hope that she can find someone to hang out with. She will be 12 at cruise time.

How to do FEs is totally up to the group.
Most of the groups I've been in have left it up to the giver whether to do one gift per person or one per cabin. A lot depends on your choice of gifts. My all time favorite was once when I did a "one per cabin" gift...and later on the cruise saw a little girl maybe 3 or 4 years old carrying it around like it was her favorite treasure. YES! I got that one right!

Please don't worry about adult dining reservations and "everything" being sold out. DCL holds about half of the reservations for booking after boarding. The system is a little different on each of the ships, so you will have to check the Welcome Aboard Navigator. On the Magic, it is open as soon as boarding starts (location varies, but usually Rockin Bar D). On the Wonder it was in Wavebands, but didn't open until 1 and they wouldn't allow people to line up early. On the Dream it is normally in the D lounge but you can also book by going to Palo and or using a podium right off the lobby. The key seemed to be the "going to the restaurant" because people didn't know about that and there were no lines. This also started at 1.

SO...guess we wait for reports on what the system is on the Fantasy.

GTY assignments used to come out right at 30 days; now they are sometimes as early as 45 days. Should be soon. The other consideration is that inside cabins were more costly than oceanview at some points...I think (do not know, just supposing) that they will have to give insides who get upgrades a balcony--I'd be unhappy if I got "upgraded" to a less costly cabin than what I booked!!! We did get a free upgrade from an inside to a balcony once, but I've never been sure if it was just chance. I had grumbled to my TA about a situation on our previous cruise and he might have said something to someone at DCL. In any event, I have a day one booking, so I'm not gty this time. I'm looking forward to the inside porthole...but DD would rather have a nicer cabin. Poor, deprived baby.:rotfl:

The countdown I keep getting is 6 weeks of classes after spring break.

Ooh... my DD has been asking for Ariel and Tiana... we'd love to take those dresses off your hands if you don't want them!!

Don't fret we'll be there with you at late dinner :) with a melt down of our own...actually the kids clubs folks pick up the little ones 1/2 or so after dinner commences so there is very little fuss.

On the dress up front I have several Princess (Aurora, Ariel and Tiana) dresses (too small for my DD now(size 3-5)) that I can throw in the suitcase if anyone wants them...the only thing is I don't want them back ;)

All yours Munchie! If I had a cabin # I would let you know where to pick them up :) (just a joke about my GTY (which I am not upset about at all just very, very excited!)) Let me know know if you want them delivered once on board or they're a surprise and I'll hold em for you.

YAHOO! DD closet cleaning on DIS!:yay:

We leave for WDW 7 weeks today!!:yay: Really should consider starting that diet sometime soon I guess. :rolleyes1

Kim - I patiently await your dunking results. popcorn::

Jenny - It's good news!:yay: Took some photos of DD's little mermaid doll at the bottom of our bath and they came out reasonably well and the camera also appears to be watertight - no leaking into the battery compartment which I think was one of the faults that this camera can have. Took a few photos after dunking and then drying it off and everything seems to be working fine!:woohoo:

I have a lumix too (not an underwater one), which I love and I will bring it to take 'good' photos. I just wanted something cheaper for beach trips/waterparks that I could carry about with me and get some underwater shots.

Kim:)

:woohoo: Good news indeed! Thank you for being the tester. :wizard: Glad to know that the mermaid doll survived too. :thumbsup2 Off to research buying options. :surfweb:

Awesome! Thanks!

I'd like to surprise her somehow... maybe meet with you when DD is busy at the kids club or at the pool with dad? :) Then leave it on her bed when she gets back :) I'll find my cabin number and PM it to you so at least we can get in touch!

Speaking of dresses... I have Mini Mouse in sz 1 & 2 (red & pink) if anybody is interested!

Anyone planning to rebook while on board might want to be sure you are up to speed on the new rules. There is a sticky on top of the boards. People are asking a lot of questions (like what if you make 2 reservations and move one) that we don't really know the answers to.

I'm sorry, I'm not seeing the sticky. Could you link it, please?

***New rules for Onboard Bookings

Effective 03/04/2012

When booking onboard, you are allowed to book 2 reservations per household that will receive the 10% discount, 50% deposit and onboard credit (based on Castaway Club level). They must be for the same sail date. You will not be allowed to book these for someone not on the sailing and that is not in your household.

Disney Cruise Line will allow you to book more then the 2 reservations for future sailings but they will not have the 50% deposit or 10% Discount. They will have an onboard credit (based on Castaway Club level). There is nothing stating these have to be in the same household so this basically replaces the Friends & Family certificate without giving additional 30 days after sailing to book.
