May 5, 2010 Magic of Barcelona

We really want to get over to Charleston while we're stationed here. I have heard it is beautiful. We are originally from Louisiana, so this is a great tour for us to be close to home, especially with our little one.

You should! We love it here. We feel so lucky to have gotten this assignment. I'm sure it's nice being so close to home. We always wished we'd gone over to Lousiana and Alabama more when my husband was stationed in Pensacola. :goodvibes

Welcome SplashMountainManiac! I hope we get our cruise docs soon, too!

Welcome aboard, SplashMountainManiac! My parents got their cruise docs yesterday, so I'm hoping ours will show up today.

Kaleigh, I am loving the website! :goodvibes

Welcome SMM!

Cruise docs??? I want cruise docs!!! I'm in Florida...you'd think they'd get here pretty quickly! Oh well, they're probably mailed from a totally different location or perhaps go first to my TA? Anyway, hopefully they come soon. It really seems real as we get closer to April. We actually leave in less than a month now for Paris! This time next month, I'll be strolling down Main Street of Disneyland Paris! I went once in 1995 and had a great time, but it seems a lot has changed since then, lol.

I just checked the mail and no cruise docs today... I'm assuming they're mailed out of Celebration, so that's probably why they got to Orlando already. Maybe tomorrow :goodvibes

Im guessing us in the UK and other far away lands won't be receiving their doc's anytime soon. It took nearly three months for DCL to post me my confirmation!
I was told I would have them at least ten days before the cruise. They would be arriving FedEx but I don't plan in seeing them anytime soon.

I was wondering who you booked your private tours with. We are taking private on the same three days. It is the first time I have ever done this and we are a bit nervous about it.

Still adding info and pictures to the website! PM me if you want to add your picture. Here is the website so far: http://may5med.weebly.com/index.html

Also, wanted to ask you guys' opinions of the spa treatments or rainforest room. They seem pricey, of course, but are they worth it? I love a good facial.

Hello May 5th cruisers!

Are any of you planning to blog or otherwise post any kind of updates about your cruise while you're on board? Those of us following you would like to hear anything you had to say. :)

By the way, I checked the Barcelona Port site and they've posted the arrival and departure times for the cruises for May. The Magic's scheduled arrival time in port each time is 4:00 am and the departure is 9:30 pm.

I did a spa treatment on my last cruise and enjoyed it. They were offering multiple specials on embarkation day and discounts if you booked a treatment on a port day. One special they offered last year was called something like ladies choice and it was a facial with back, neck, and scalp massage. It also included a day pass for the rain forest room. It was pretty reasonably priced if you booked it for a port day. If there is a specific treatment you want, I would say book it in advance, but if not, I would say do a spa tour on embarkation day because they usually have specials.

The only downside to spa treatments is they always try to sell you products afterwards.

The rainforest room is pretty cool. I don't think I'd buy a week long pass, because I would't get enough use of it, but it was relaxing. One thing to keep in mind, the "gentle steam room" was pretty intense for me. I don't use steam rooms often, but someone who does would probably enjoy it. :goodvibes

On our last cruise they had onboard spa specials as well. These were much better deals than the pre-booked ones and we didn't have a hard time getting the time slots we want. Not to say that's how it will be with the Med, but I'm hoping! I do want to do some treatments!

May15 Jeff (ha!), I am taking my laptop an in theory plan to post some updates here on a trip report, but I don't have a blog per se.

Me too! I am hoping they'll have specials since we have so many port days, but I'll wait and see.

Thanks for the information, Jeff! I don't have a blog, but I will probably try to hop on a computer at some point... we'll see though! I am also wondering if anyone on the cruise before us will be blogging :goodvibes
