May 5, 2010 Magic of Barcelona

I just checked with DCL and found out that we will have a formal night on night 2, pirate night on night 7 and semi-formal night on night 9. She did not have the show schedule yet (said to check back towards the end of the month), but said there would be 3 production shows, 2 variety shows and 5 variety speciality entertainment nights, which could include local entertainers, a movie night or a celebrity entertainer.

Another movie suggestion... "A Room with a View" is set in Florence and includes lots of architechture, statues, etc.

Thanks for the info on the different nights! Really excited to see what night the Disney Villians show will be on. We saw the guys that wrote that show on Broadway in [title of show] which is a show they wrote about themselves writing a musical. :) It was so great we saw it twice (on a 5 day trip) and met them. I was so thrilled to see that Disney had hired them to write their new show for the cruises. What time are the production shows usually? Are they likely to be on nights of big shore excursions (Rome, Florence) or not? Thanks!

I think the show times usually correspond with the dining times, although I'm not sure of their exact start time. So, if you have the late dining, you go to the early show which is sometime during the main dining. (And vice versa for Main dining, they go to the later show.) We always do the late dining and we've always had time to go back to the room and change for dinner and relax between the early show and late dinner.

The variety acts they have are usually really good too. They had an amazing illusionist on our Western Carribean last May. They usually also have a few adults only shows that take place after the late dining, those are always fun too. :goodvibes

I was looking up tour companies in Rome and one of them actually offers Angels and Demons tour :rotfl:

Most of us probably book shore excursions tomorrow...has everyone figured out what they want? Are most of you still planning on doing it on your own? I've noticed that on other Med threads, some people are sharing private excursions to cut the fees. If you get enough people, its pretty reasonable. We're sticking with DCL, since it will be me, my mom and a 4 year old, but there were some good looking tours out there.

I'll be interested to see what everyone decides!

ETA: Was reading on the other 10 night thread that Palo BRUNCH will only be offered on the 2 at sea days. Palo dinner will be offered each night.

I won't get to book until the 17th but was looking at the excursions w/ DH last night. Some of them are really pricey (considering there's 6 in our group). I totally want to see everything but am concerned about how my kids will handle 10-hr, sightseeing excursions. But I think I will do most if not all through DCL just so I don't have to deal with the stress of planning.

I'd like to do the High Tea at Palo this cruise. I'm traveling without DH this trip so probably won't do a dinner there. Are there any other ladies that would like to join me? It is offered only on the sea days (as is the brunch). I plan to book the one on the 6th. Thought it might be a fun way to meet some of the other women from our thread - esp. those, like me,who are traveling solo and want the Palo experience without doing dinner. Cost is $5.00 and time is 3:00. Would also consdier doing brunch instead (10:30 - 12:30) if most other women preferred that. Let me know if anyone is interested in meeting up for this.

Hello! New to this thread. I would like to do the tea on the 6th CJ's Mom, that is a great idea. My husband doesn't really enjoy that experience and I didn't want to drag him along this time. This will be our 3rd disney cruise, but it has been over 3 years since our last one. Please add me to your count for the tea :)

I think we're mostly looking at Disney excursions too. I thought about booking something privately, but we're thinking it might just be easier to let Disney handle it. There's a few we're still undecided on. :goodvibes

Welcome Strawberryblond! Is it just you and your husband cruising or do you have kids with you?

I checked with Disney and found out that I can't make a group reservation. The only way to do that is to link reservations. The rep suggested that we each just go ahead and make individual reservations and then when we get to the ship tell Palo that we want to sit together.

Booked a Palo brunch and all of our excursions. The only one I couldn't get was the Rome for Families, which wasn't even listed. Maybe they aren't offering that on this cruise. Otherwise, got everything I wanted with no problem. There were a few excursions that showed as no space available, but not many. I think they were some of the boat tours? We weren't doing them, so I didn't pay too close attention.

What did everyone else settle on???

I made a tea reservation for day 2, but my husband wants to have tea too (I guess things can change in 3+ years). Is a man welcome? We are fine either way, always nice to chat with new people. We are traveling (again!) with our two children, 10 and 13.

I was able to book what I wanted, but I've been locked out of my reservation for 20 min.....I was wanting to look everything over and now I must wait to do that before I can go back to bed....sigh. Brain not fully up to speed at the moment.

My sister is going to join us and we made a reservation under her husband's name to give us an extra spot. So, if any ladies here can't book yet and want that spot just let me know.

Are your kids girls or boys? I'll be traveling with my 9 yr old daughter. Wish they let the "tween" and teen girls do the high tea. I know my daughter would have loved it. I look forward to meeting you!

I hadn't really researched the ports yet so made some quick choices and had no trouble getting what I wanted including the Palo tea reservation and a Palo dinner reservation for my sister and her husband. I'm sure I will cancel some of them as I decide which ports besides Rome I am doing on my own.

Only bad thing was that my sister and I were comparing notes by phone just before midnight and then bpth logged on to start booking. The system only let me through to the booking area and wouldn't let her through. Apparently, if your reservations are linked then only one can be online booking at a time. Wish we had known that in advance. Then we could have temporarily unlinked the reservations.

I revised my message after talking with my husband (we must have been posting at the same time!)....he is wanting to take his place. I also booked in his name in case we needed an extra seat for someone. Anyway, we would enjoy joining you, but I can understand if you are just wanting girl time.

My daughter is 10, and she would sooo love this tea. She is very well behaved as well, it is a shame. She feels too old for the Alice tea.

I did not know that about linked reservations, thanks for the heads up. We don't have family along this cruise, but did for the last, so this is always good to know.

We are booked for the Jumping into Rome one, the kids liked the sound of that one best.

Did you book an excursion for Malta? It's showing me that nothing is offered for Malta?

Also didn't see any availability for high tea... :sad1:

I didn't see anything for Malta either, is this a flaw in the system or do you think they all have no availability?:confused3

High tea at Palo was not available either.
