May 31, 2014 Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Meet thread!

I have heard that Orient beach and the ones on the French side are topless, not sure about the Dutch side. I have a 12 yr boy and 5 yr old girl and I really don't want to have that conversation!! On St Thomas we are looking at the tour of Blackbeards castle. It just feels so overwhelming!

Wow I haven't checked on this thread for a while .... What a great group we have!

So excited for this cruise, it's pouring with rain in England today and I am daydreaming about sunshine and white sand :)

Can't wait to meet everyone!

I haven't seen the Blackbeard castle tour. I will look for it. Our first cruise had 2 days at Castaway Cay - heaven! We didn't worry about the beach in Nassau. In fact , since we had a little baby that eliminated a lot of excursions for us in Nassau. Then it started to rain and we decided to stay on ship. My mom and aunt had gone into town, but as soon as it started to drizzle came right back to the ship. We did swim with the rays at Castaway Cay, and are planning on doing that again. We are also trying to choose between waverunners and parasailing. DH has said he wants to do waverunners with DS 8. Aunt has said she would do parasailing with DS 8 too. I am worried that for DS 8, three different excursions will be too much. Opinions? Wish I could book an extended stay at CC...pirate:

DH wants to do the America's Cup sailboat at St. Martin. The rest of us will probably do the 2 countries/ capitals overview tour with the kids. I have no idea what to choose on St. Thomas, especially with the little one, DD2.:confused3

I think the 2 countries tour would be really cool. There has to be a lot of history that one normally wouldnt know about. I know one of the islands has a place called Coral World...I think its like a very large aquarium. That sounds like its appropriate for all ages.

I have looked at the Coral World excursion, but I wish I could find out more about it. We have been to some very good aquariums in the US, and I am afraid this one will be a letdown... If anyone else has ever been there, then I would love to hear your thoughts. There is also a semi-submerged boat that looks like it might be good for kids. The feed the fish to lure them in.

lol i started one too! :D and how did you know this was me? (: any way I'm Kayla and my huge "family" is going on this cruise yay! For 10 of us it's our 2nd Disney cruise and for 2 others its their 1st. It's my mom, dad, my 3 brothers (5, 7 and 8 when we go), my aunt and her son (7 when we go) my grandmother and my "aunt and uncle" (a.k.a very close family friends) and their daughter (11) when we go.

I just wanted to throw out there that I am volunteering to take upon the FE Exchange :goodvibes If anyone else would like to take on a meet and greet that would very much appreciated.:yay:

Hi, I sent you a PM about the Fish Exchange. This will will our very first:cool1: FE!

Yes, Orient Beach is topless, but the vast majority of women are not topless. And of the few who are - let's just say I didn't have to worry about my 18, 15 and 11 year old boys staring. We stopped at Orient for about 90 minutes as part of a Bernard's tour. We were far from the nudist resort and quite close to the big official tour group from Disney. Our kids had a blast playing in the water there as it is more wave filled than Castaway Cay.

For what it's worth, you never know when you might accidently spot a topless sunbather even in Sint Martin (the Dutch side where it's "not" permitted). It's obviously not enforced whether at Great Bay beach by the cruise ship in Phillipsburg or even at Maho where the planes take off and land. I guess it's no different than the Bernard's tour operators offering my 15 year old a beer. It's quite laid back on the islands!

We just moved our July 26 Eastern cruise to this one. We are myself (52), DW (50), DD (14) and DD (11). This will be our 7th DCL cruise. We will spend the night prior at a DVC resort and then after the cruise 7 nights at WDW. Please post information here and on FB, I do not do FB and will not see anything on that site.

Welcome! Glad to have you on the cruise. We don't personally have any, but there seem to be a lot of girls your daughters' ages in our group. Contact JnDRader, because I think I read that they have an email list going for the kids those ages. My kids are younger, so we are not in on that.
:thumbsup2

The wife and are trying to decide if we want to go on the eastern or the western any ideas would help

My wife Carla and I have booked this cruise as a celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary (it will be a couple of months early). This will be a couples-only cruise for us. We have been on 6 other cruises, but only on Disney the first one. We have not yet found another cruise line that was as good overall as Disney, so we just had to return finally. We booked a category 9 guarantee (oceanview).

May 31 seems like a long time from now, and we can't wait!

And I was just told to ask is there an FE set up yet and has anyone started a Facebook group yet

We've done a 5-night Western and enjoyed it. Grand Cayman was wonderful. Cozumel was merely ok. That was an impulse booking because the had KSF. Eastern appeals to us much more. Can't really put my finger on why other than maybe it's because I love sea days and we get 3!

And I was just told to ask is there an FE set up yet and has anyone started a Facebook group yet

Both are setup and very active. I think the FE already had to be split! Send Jason Rader(Atlanta, GA) a fb friend request and I'll add you to the group. Kayla is organizing the FE.

Jason Rader, Atlanta GA. My picture is the family dressed up for pirate night with Mickey.

I just realized I am friends with the wrong Jason rader!

That must have been pretty confusing for the wrong one! I bet he is thinking..."what the heck is FE?" ::rotfl:

I realize I'm late on catching up- but just wanted to say that we did Coral World on our own (not through the ship) when we took the Magic back in 2007. It is a smaller 'marine' park- but it was very nice for our 'small' kids (ages 5 & 2 at the time). I don't know that if you have much older kids it would be worth the money. We also walked next door to Coki Beach which was a nice, gentle beach for kids. You do have to 'rent' chairs. (I think it was $5 a chair or something) and they have drinks/food there. I liked the beach... That was also 6 years ago- so things could have changed.

If you do go, I would suggest doing it on your own. It's an easy taxi ride. And will give you time to do the park & the beach at your own pace.
