May 28, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

please PM me your email address so I can give you permission to access the spreadsheet. No one has started a cabin crawl, if you want to spearhead that, you can. Does anyone want to do a cabin crawl?

Cindy

What is a cabin crawl???

Once we arrive into Barcelona port on the 8th of June, about how long does it take to check out and get all our luggage? Thank you!

I've been wondering for those of us that are stateside... What percentage of your cash will be in dollars and euros? Does anyone know if there is a daily limit to the cash you can exchange at Disney guest services? I still think that I might get Euro travelers checks for my private tours so I would just need spending cash for the ports. Relying on ATM in foreign countries makes me nervous. We only have one VISA card, if it is not accepted we would be up a creek!

When we went on the repositioning cruise last year from BCN to Dover we had BIG problems in connecting to the internet on board. So much so that DCL refunded our entire plan! We had the best luck when we were in port and went to an Internet Cafe and paid just a few euros for 30 minutes! We even tried to log-in using our iphones and laptops but had no luck!

Here is the information from my website, which I got from Disney.....

Guests are able to cash personal checks drawn from U.S. banks, only up to $100.00 per checking account, per voyage onboard at the Guest
Services desk. [NOTE: You cannot use your Key To The World card to get Euros from Guest Services.]

There are no limits set for currency exchange. [NOTE: Per the EBTA cruisers, DCL will also exchange currency for traveler's checks.]

Currency exchange is available at Guest Services. During the Mediterranean sailings, the currencies listed below can be exchanged to Euros.

The following types of currency can be exchanged onboard:

Dollar (Australia, Canada, Cayman, Hong Kong, United States)
Franc (Switzerland)
Kroner (Denmark, Norway, Sweden)
Peso (Mexico)
Pound (United Kingdom: England, Scotland)
Yen (Japan)
Euro (European Union)

You should not have any problems with your Visa as long as you let your credit card company know that you will be using your card overseas.

You will use dollars on board and Euros in the ports.

Hope this helps.

Not sure if everyone knows about this yet, but here is where I've been spending all my time lately!!

At the above link, the DIS designers made mickey (etc) ears for door decorations. Thought they were really cute, and couldn't decide which one I liked, so I printed out quite a few.
Sorry if this is well known information!!

There are also a couple links on my website for magnetic door signs and Mickey Ears, if you would like to look at those.

The one excursion that I was really looking foward to was the Sweet Corsica one and it is completely booked. Grrrr :(

How big is the door? What is its dimensions (how tall, how wide)? If anyone knows, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

Hello everyone! We'll be on board for our first cruise ever :goodvibes I just discovered these boards and hope I'm not too late to introduce us and perhaps join in on the fun!

DD1 - will be 4 in 2 weeks
DD2 - will be 6.5 months at cruise time

So...How many nice dresses should I bring. My husband and I will be dining at Palo, so there is one set of nice clothes for us. Will there be a "Captains Dinner"? Will there be any theme dinners? Any help would great? Thanks!

That is completely up to you. But, the schedule says there are two semiformal nights and one formal night (but last year it said the same thing and we only had one semiformal night and one formal night). There is also a pirate's night. The three restaurants you you will be eating in, one is really nice, one is mid class and the third is Caribbean themed.

I plan on bringing one formal dress, my pirate outfit and some cruise casual clothes. But, I'm only bringing dresses and couple pair of capris. I have a lot of maxidresses that I plan on wearing every where. I have some dressy sandles and some casual sandles and one pair of dress shoes.

hope this helps.

I just found this company http://www.cellularabroad.com/italyRmifi.php and if any would like to split the cost let me know We could call them about the 1st of APR to reserve the device.

I would be renting it for a total of 17 days ($109+$39) but if someone was just going on the cruise and coming back with out any stop overs, we could reduce the cost to only 12-13 days ($99 + $39) of rental. we would have unlimited internet the whole time we are in Italy only. This would allow 5 devices to connect to the device wirelessly at one time and share the internet connection. by just looking at a wireless data plan from att you are looking at $100 for 100MB

WELCOME!! So excited for you and your first cruise :yay:
I have two girls one is 4 1/2 and the other is just turning 3 - and they LOVE new friends. They will be spending lots of time in the kids club (fingers crossed) especially on the LONG days at some of the ports. We'll have to meet up at the meet and greet and introduce them.
Make sure you bring a princess dress for them!

Oh HOORAY! That would be great -- I know that my 4yo will do the kids club if - and only if - she feels like she "knows" someone...and her little sister is too little for that purpose yet! I'd really like her to go, especially after dinner (we have the late seating and would love to do dine and play -- DD2 will be in the nursery some nights!). Plus I think she would have a blast!

Oh, princess dresses! Hadn't thought about that! Do they dress up like princesses for...formal dinner? What? Please say more!
