May 28, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

Anyone have recommendations for a transfer from the airport to hotel (in our case, likely the AC Diplomatic)? The links on the web page don't seem to go specifically to the hotel we might stay at. We found one place but its 70E which seems a bit high.

I don't know if these links will help - most are repeated:

Airport Transfer info. AND more here AND here.

Port info here.

Private transfer options:-

Here Limo Rent

AND Here Miromar

AND Here Grup Limousines

AND Here Panorama ITC Travel.

€70 seems right for a private transfer by car though.

We booked private transfers for our family of 5, from LimoRent.com (see updated OP for added links) which were €86.51 per transfer including taxes from Airport to Port; and Port to Airport - but that was in a 7-seater Mercedes Van.

The least expensive route would be public transportation. Here's how to do it.

The Airport shuttle bus (Aerobus) runs from Barcelona airport (Terminal 1 or 2) El Prat to the city centre. The nearest stop to the Cruise Terminal is Placa Catalunya, which is its final stop. From Placa Catalunya you would need to catch either a taxi to the Port (which is about 10 minutes ride) or you would take the Metro: Catalunya (Green Line, L3) direction Zona Universitaria. You need to get off at Metro: Drassanes. From Drassanes metro you would walk to the Port Shuttle bus stop – known as the Blue Bus that will take you to all the port terminals. The port shuttle bus stop is across the road called Passeig de Colum and next to the monument of Christopher Columbus.

Thanks for the information. I also was wondering how we were going to get from our hotel to the port. We have a hotel on Las Ramblas down by the Statue of Columbus.

Another topic! We're wondering about cell phone options, as we need to keep in touch with family back home during the trip.

Last summer, while on a trip to England & Ireland, we got a pay-as-you-go SIM card for our iPhone for about $4 + $20 top-up, and that gave us free unlimited internet for 3 months (!), and access to cheap long distance calling (~5c / min). (Still have about $15 on that account...)

Does anyone have any experience with carriers in Spain and/or Italy, and that may have similar deals?

Thanks in advance!

Is your hotel before or after the cruise? We will be on Las Ramblas in an apartment for a few days before. I think we are just going to walk to the blue bus, which takes us to the port.

You can get pay and go phones in Spain, and there is some companies that offer "cheap" calls to the states, but I don't know how "cheap." You will just have to look into it when you get there.

It is before the cruise and we will be walking down to the Blue line to get to the port.

When I did our online check in I indicated that we will be checking in at the port at 1030, so I figure we should be at the bus stop NLT 0930. I know that it doesn't take an hour to get to the port, but I don't know what the schedule is, rather be early than late.

We are staying at Hotel Cuatro Naciones, it is close to the port end on Las Ramblas. Really close to the bus stop.

Hi! We're interested in Naples, but don't have enough posts to send a PM yet. You can message us, though, so we can get more details. Thanks!

We found this link describing the port transport options, and thought it would be worth sharing.

www "DOT" barcelona-tourist-guide "DOT" com/transport/barcelona-cruise-port.html

(Replace "DOT" - just a few more posts and I'll be able to put actual links in. :) )

For those of you participating in the FE:

Please go to the spreadsheet page that I gave you access to and update all your information for everyone.

By telling us if you are celebrating anything and your Disney Likes/dislikes we might be able to give you something special for that celebration.

By telling us if you are on early or late seating then we know when you aren't in your room, so we can deliver without you hearing us.

Also, if you have allergies please add that to the other information block, so we don't give you something you may be allergic to.

Its getting so close.......

The one I sent you to your email address. Its on google, I only gave those doing the FE access to it. You should've received an email from me/google so you could access it.

Please add us to the FE List. We have connecting cabins (2122 and 2124).

Are there plans for a cabin crawl too?

please PM me your email address so I can give you permission to access the spreadsheet. No one has started a cabin crawl, if you want to spearhead that, you can. Does anyone want to do a cabin crawl?
