May 28, 2005 Mexican Riviera

I am up for a lime green hat wearing adventure. I'll hit up Target and see what I can find.

Sandy, the shuttle service we're using is called Super Shuttle and you should be able to find them online. Maybe they'll be an economical option.

rccllap... Thanks for the shutle info, I will check them out.

GGG... I went to Target... all I could find is WOMENS lime green caps for $2.99... while they WERE cute.. I don't fore-see getting the males  in our group to wear them ... r the ones you found actual male baseball cap types?

Sandy, yes those are probably the Lime Green hats I got at Target. They were in the accessories department and were $2.99.

Did not know there was a distinguishable gender identity in baseball hats. They are all just beanies with a clasp and a visor. Be grateful they don’t have a rotor on top. My belief has always been if a baseball cap is on a man's head it’s a men’s baseball cap and if it’s on a woman's head it’s a women’s baseball cap. Normally it’s the gaudy color schemes and markings that make it more gender specific for me.

I could see the men arguing about the color, ugly lime green hat, but not that they aren’t manly enough. Are they expecting afashion journalist looking for the best dressed cruiser and don’t want to take a chance and miss out on the prizes?

It’s vacation for God’s sake. Looking dorky and not caring what people think is one of life’s pleasurable reward for going on vacation. I’m never wearing that sucker after the cruise, but during, who cares. (Since your husband likes bingo, has he ever looked up during a game and seen bingo fashion? Lime green hat is nothing compared to that).

Wife also picket up some light greenish collared Polo shirts (Children $6.99 adults $12.99) that we may embroider or mark somehow to memorialize the trip. But with a collar, we can dine in them.

Our clan may look like we ran head on into an guacamole truck, but we will never loose each other in a crowd.

GGG - I got the lime green caps for me and the boys, John does not feel it is the right color for him. But he did say to tell you that if need be he does have a lime green Speedo he can wear. :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Challada - Finally made it to Home Depot and got the alien green Mickeys. Now I just need to put our names on. May go back and get a few different colors to put on the caps and on the door sign.

How big are we making our door signs?

Hi G.G.G. - Don't know if you saw my earlier post, but have you checked out www.disshop.com? They have a few lime green Dis products (Lanyards, T-shirts, antenna balls, fanny packs, etc.) at reasonable prices. ::yes:: But no baseball caps, so I will go to Target tomorrow.

Sue- Thanks for putting the Scoops meet list together. Very handy.

Alex- If you go too, you will definitely see me at the Art of Entertaining series. Right up my alley!:daisy:

Gail-
Looks like we will be wearing the greens...so tell the boys Alex is in on the green cap too.
I made door signs out of regular size paper (8 1/2 by 11) and am going to laminate them next week when I get the final approval from everyone involved and then will attach magnet to it since I could not find the magnet paper anywhere here in town. I am have the Home Depot heads in a variety of colors so will laminate and magnet those for the door as well (and also for the doortag).

Grandpa-
Have grammie hold the receipt on the polos...I want you to see the ones at Prospectors that are $3/shirt when you are here and maybe we can use those for some/all of us and save a couple bucks.
FYI...yesterday was baseball extravaganza here...2 games and pics, etc...they both had lots of fun!
Love

wccruiser – thanks. I had seen the link when you posted and was going bring it up as a possibility when we have our big family cruise pow-wow at grandsons 10th birthday next week. But with an adequate supply of green I was actually thinking in grey. Since the discussion board one is on seems to be printed on the shirt, I thought the grey was better because I'd be willing to be seen in it after the cruise.

wmjivey - must be married to a very gutsy man. If DH - John is willing to wear lime green Speedos instead of a lime green baseball cap. But the upside is that you could get the pool to yourselves.

wccruiser - oops, forget that part about the disboard name on the shirt. Wife pointed out shirt says "Home of the DISboards" not "Name of the DISboards" . I thought the price was pretty good for them also printing individual DISboard names on it. But I guess one could always add "May 28, 2005 Mexican Riviera"

For us it is me (Jodi), DH (Mike), DD 5 (Madison), GP (David) and GM (Susan). We are counting the days...We won't be able to make the pre-cruise meet because we will be off at Knott's that day. I think it will be pretty crowded at Disneyland on Friday (right before the holiday). Does everyone have their formal wear for their kids? I bought a dress that was too big for my daughter right after Christmas thinking it would fit, well she hit a growth spurt and now I think it might be too short by the end of May. Any ideas of where to look for a formal dress. This is just not the season for a large selection of formal wear. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am still waffeling about the dress I have but I guess I will just have to wait and see how it looks on her in a few weeks.

At the Scoop meet, should we just all look for people with lime green clothes or accessories? I might get one of the DIS shirts but I know I will never get my DH in lime green.

If you happen to live somewhere there is an AC Moore crafts store, vibrant neon green/lime green/ whatever that shade is stuff is available very inexpensively. I got t-shirts for our group for $2.99 each; and a door hanger that I will decorate up for 49 cents. I'm making lanyard cords in a neon green, 10 yards for 99 cents; the lanyard hooks were 18 for 99 cents. While we won't be decked out in that loud color of green often, we'll be identifiable easily for arranged meets! (I expect Michaels crafts would also have many of the same things.)

I also got a T-shirt for my DS to have autographed by any new friends, characters, etc.

Are the stateroom doors metal? So magnets will work on them? AC Moore has photo frames, flexible plastic, in many sizes, that have attached magnet backing.

I actually went into Home Depot and offered to buy a pile of the mickey heads, and the lady told me as long as I leave a couple for other people I'm welcome to them. That took care of my guilt :rolleyes1

peace--

Jodi-
I had to buy DD a new formal dress as well since the Xmas one is looking way too short now too....I had hoped to find after Easter stuff but haven't been able to find anything in my town. I ended up ordering a dress this week from children's place (www.childrensplace.com) since they have several in the sale section...I bought the cream colored one w/the multi-tiers but debated the pink one w/the pedals on it. I had coupon for $10 off $30 too (NEM35) should still be good.

Please add our names to the list for Scoops... we will be the ones in Lime Green! :rotfl2:
We can hardly WAIT!

Of course I saved the receipt! You, DD of the Shopping Extraordinaire, have taught me well. I actually thought I'd buy them now, keep the tags on, and see if they go on sale. :rolleyes1 Kind of like what I did with the twin set.....saved $10 in less than 2 weeks. :cool1: We can look at then and compare next week.

PS - For any one looking for green clothes....Old Navy must think that green is the new pink. They have green everything from shorts to skirts to shirts to skorts to crop pants to dresses to tunics to bathing suits to flip flops. You could get a whole DIS wardrobe on the cheap! :rotfl2:

The doors are metal. The surface is smooth and in the past we have placed window clings as well as magnetic backed things on our door. Alex

Wow, this board has been active. I haven't been able to check in for a few days.

Sue, thanks for the list.

Chris, thanks for the Children's Place code. I LOVE coupons, codes, rebates, etc.

We won't be able to make the Friday get together either. That is Mattie's last day of school. We will be leaving the Sacramento area that afternoon.

I don't know what we'll wear for the Scoops meet. We'll keep an eye out for something lime green.

I can't believe how quickly May 28th is coming.

Lime green seems to be the color of the season this year. I shopped for most of my clothes for the cruise a month ago - before this thread got started. I'm afraid that most of my clothes are actually green, so I guess I'll fit right in.

Remember me mentioning that my husband spilled red wine all over my new light green silk jacket? Well the cleaners couldn't get out the stain - so I made him go buy me a new one. Luckily, they still had one in my size.

Hey Susie, Sorry to hear about your wine glass malfunction. :sad2: Dh and I were shopping this afternoon and I saw quite a few nice green sweater sets and capris. I think I'm going to go back and see if I can get the sweater set.

Can't wait to play Bingo. Does anyone know if Que will still be onboard? He's so much fun. The lady that won last year almost passed out, her knees buckled and she started to cry. I think she won over $7,000. Dh was hooked from that moment on.

Hi Sue,

I just noticed that you don't have our names. So sorry. We are Ellen, Bob, Kate and Brett.

My parents are Bob & Helen.

My sisters are Linda & Colleen.

At some point, we'll have to add stateroom numbers to the list and indicate whether or not they're playing door tag.
