May 27th 2007 Wonder Cruise. Anyone else on it?

Even if the chance for rain doesn't change, it should impact the day in Nassau at all. From my past experience in Nassau, it will be a nice sunny day, rain for 20 or 30 minutes and then the sun is out again. Heck last time I was on Paradise island and it started raining, the sun was still out and most people didn't even leave the beach.

Monday in Nassau will be a great day!!!:thumbsup2 (no matter what)

Buddrose, where are you checking info at for road closures? We're in Marietta and planned on going 75 to Turnpike. Yesterday was really smoky.

Buddrose, where are you checking info at for road closures? We're in Marietta and planned on going 75 to Turnpike. Yesterday was really smoky.

I live right off 75 at Moores Mill, so just south of May-retta, but I've decided to get on 16 in Macon, go to 95, and just go 95 from there to Titusville where we're spending the night before. No real scientific formula, just that usually we go from 75 to 10 to 95 (via 295) and this way I only have to worry about one road, not those three. And at the Georgia DOT website, updated yesterday at 5:30 p.m., just looked a little more reassuring for 95 (open, but smoke may affect visiability) than for 75 (expect frequent closures). Though 75 has not been closed for quite some time.

We take Hwy. 15 thru Wrightsville, cross over I-16 and head east to Brunswick to I-95 - don't start out west enough to consider I-75. From Brunswick, it's a straight shot (DO use the bypass around Jacksonville!). As Logan1 said, 95 is more dependable than coming across I-10, I would think.
We are staying at Daytona Beach and then will drive on down (a little over an hour) Sunday morning.

I finally have my classroom packed and am now working on packing for the trip. My DH wants to leave at 6:30 in the morning. Little sleep for me tonight. My DS said I could sleep on the way down!!! I can't wait to see the ship on Sunday!!!

Today was my last day at work before the trip. DH still has to work tomorrow, so I'll be busy with all of the last minute details! We're all so excited!!!

We will leave Saturday morning about 10 or 11. I-95 is clear as of now.
Buddrose, the 295 bypass will add a minimum of 30 min's to your drive. It's better to go 95 all the way. No smoke here the last few days as the winds have been from the west. Remember to drive safe through the construction from exit 38 to 29 as the police are making sure you do. Everyone have a great time.........see you on the ship.
Tom :dance3:

Tiptoen:
I think you are correct about the extra time taking the bypass - since we will be going thru Jax on the weekend, no need to take the bypass! We are leaving Athens about 9am, so should be heading to 95 by early afternoon. Debating whether to go thru Vidalia on the way down to get a big bag of onions - will probably stop on the way home so the onions won't "cook" in the car!
Safe travels everyone!

We're heading to WDW for just a couple of days after the cruise. For those also going, what park are you planning on doing the first day. I figure we'll arrive late morning at best, peak time. Does anyone have a good game plan that they're willing to share?

We're headed for EPCOT after we check in to the hotel. If the lines are long for the rides, at least we can check out the Flower and Garden Festival!

See you all on the ship! Our flight leaves tomorrow morning.

Buddrose - we'll wave to you as you pass by!! I live in Edgewater; approx. 17-18 miles directly south of Daytona. Getting married @ 8am in Mom & Dad's yard, eating "Krispy Kreme" donut wedding cake by 9am, then on to the port about 10a. Will put us at Canaveral about 11:00a.

Nik's Mom - Going over to WDW on Thursday, as you are. Staying at Caribbean Beach Resort until Sunday. No parks for us on Thursday; going to enjoy the resort. MK on Friday, EPCOT on Saturday, AK on Sunday - or something like that. We've arrange for a "Great Gathering" on Friday evening. Taking the "Great Gathering - Fireworks Voyage". Takes you out on a boat to watch the fireworks over Cinderella's Castle with Captain Hook/Peter Pan and their crew. The kids will LOVE IT!!:cool1:

Anyway...countdown and am verrrryyyy excited - :yay: Will see you at port or on the boat!! Will be easily identifiable; just look for the family (of 10) in "Hawaiian garb" that looks like they just came from a wedding...LOL:rotfl2:

Sack :bride: + :goofy: = MARRIED COUPLE!

here's our plan:

thurs - BCR check in and then do AK (go see nemo for first time) then ohanas and MK fireworks from the beach

fri - early entry at MGM, hit the rides before the star wars crowds overwhelm, and then go to epcot for the festival

sat-MK all day

one thing to double check is the early entry times, they are different on this board than at the official site.

Thanks everyone for all the advice over the past several months. Well, I'm about to shut down the computer to go catch a flight to Orlando!!! We'll be at the Hyatt tonight, and then the Wonder tomorrow. Hope everyone has a safe trip down...see ya onboard!

I booked this cruise Oct 9th of last year for me and my family. I worked two jobs and saved, saved, saved. Seven months worth of anticipation, waiting, reading the disboards almost daily and sometimes trying not to even think of it at all.

Same as the rest of you here in this thread, I disembarked this cruise today around 8:45am. Every extra hour I put in at work, every sacrifice I made else where so that I could contribute to this vacation was SO very worth it!

The weather was WONDERful, the service and entertainment were top notch.
P.O.T.C. 'At Worlds End' in the Walt Disney Theater (from 10:30 to 1:15am) was awsome. The pirate party and the showing of P.O.T.C. 1 on the jumbo tron was quite the experiance.

On Monday 'Nassau day' we walked around the port area for a little while, walked over to Hard Rock Cafe for a guitar pin and then waved down a cab to take us to Atlantis. We walked around there for a while took many photos and then headed to the ferry terminal to take a boat over to the Dolphin Encounters on Blue Lagoon.

Our Dolphin was named Andy, he was a patient and friendly dolphin that loved to play football and spit water on us all:lmao:

Spend way to much on photos and other Dolphin Encounters stuff. Got back to the ferry port, ate a quick bite at Johnny Rockets wondered the beach at Atlantis for a while more and then at the last possible minute, happily paid a cab driver $20 bucks to rush us back to the port. As we ran up the gangway we were told that we were the second to last family to board the ship:rolleyes1

Castaway Cay was the ultimate private island 'Disney Style' the whole place was stunning. Beautiful landscapes and seascapes and photo opts at every turn. We did the bike ride first thing, then went swimming, snorkinling and picture taking with my Canon 30D and my 12 year old son followed closely with his Canon D30. Grabbed a quick lunch at Cookie's BBQ and then went Parasailing at 2:00pm. Wow was that fun my 10 year old daughter got cold feet at the last minute so I was able to go twice, once with my son and once with my wife. That was the first time parasailing for us all and I couldn't have picked a better place to create that memory.

We stayed on Castaway Cay until they asked us to head back to the ship, but for us that's what it takes:rotfl:

Our day at sea was just as great. The Oceaneers lab was a big hit with the kids, the BBall court on deck ten was where my son spent most of his day at sea. We hit Beach Blanket Buffett for lunch and then walked over to Goofy's Galley for some excellent soft serve ice cream. Took the family to see the Disney Dreams show at 6:15pm before our 8:30pm dinner seating at A.P.
The show was outstanding!! and I thought the Peter Pan and 'little girl' were very convincing in there roles.

Even though we all knew we had to get up at the crack of dawn the next morning, as usual we didn't get to bed until after midnight.

This morning at breakfast we kept feeling like someone had died, like we were loosing something we all loved so much. We said goodbye one last time to our servers took their picture with the kids and then headed off to the terminal.

This cruise is really just the beginning of our vacation, we are now in Orlando in a four bedroom pool home we rented until June 10th and are going to spend the next 10 days going to the Universal parks, Sea World and Busch Gardens Tampa, but we just cannot get over the massive impact the last four days has had on us. That feeling we all feel really is "The Disney Difference"

I see that there is still space available on the June 7 -10th 3-day Disney Cruise, who knows, we might be on it:goodvibes

We just got home at 11:30pm last night, since we followed the cruise with a 4 day WDW stay! I fell in love with cruising! So much so, that we booked a 7 nt western while on board!:cool1:
