Heather ask me to make a quick post

She had a asthma attack today and is in the hospital for a few days

She will be fine but will be out of touch for a few days

Hope things are going better for you and your family today. We are all thinking of you and sending good wishes your way! Feel better!
Karen

Oh please tell her we are thinking of her. Rio has asthma and was in the ER here twice last month (after a year of very minimal problems). It is always scary and stressful:hug:

On a happier note: I LOVE seeing what everyone is planning on doing. Here are our planes (I think as of now we are on two tours with Tammy--Pompeii) and Tunis:goodvibes) :

Day 2 - At Sea - Thursday, May 27, 2010
Tea at 3:00

Day 3 - Valletta, Malta - Friday, May 28, 2010
On our own

Day 4 - Tunis, Tunisia - Saturday, May 29, 2010
Medina and Carthage at 9:15

Day 5 - Naples, Italy (Pompeii) - Sunday, May 30, 2010
Pompeii - Half Day (but we may decide to take the train on our own. We feel like we could do a self guided tour okay here) I am just trying to decide how easy it really is to get there and back:confused3

Day 6 - Civitavecchia, Italy (Rome) - Monday, May 31, 2010
Private tour with Claudio from limo in rome. It will cost about as much as the DCL tour but we can fit in a lot more of what we truly want to see and have just the four of us with a guide instead of being in a big group. I am very nervous about this one though--it is so much money for one day and I sooooo hope the company lives up to its reputation. I have never gone so far from the ship without a DCL excursion for peace of mind.

Day 7 - La Spezia, Italy (Florence, Pisa) - Tuesday, June 1, 2010
We are camping in Tuscany next summer and will see this area at a more lesuirely pace so we will o to the rainforest room and relax this day. We will probably disembarl for a couple of hours and enjoy the port town.

Day 8 - Ajaccio, Corsica - Wednesday, June 2, 2010
On our own. There is not a lot we want to see here.

Day 9 - Villefranche, France (Monte Carlo, Cannes, Nice) - Thursday, June 3, 2010
On our own--beach day if it is warm enough.

Day 10 - At Sea - Friday, June 4, 2010
Relax!

Ok so are we the only ones who have everything booked and ready for this cruise and have no airline tickets booked. I keep putting it off hoping that they might drop the prices. Should I just give in and book a flight?

No- you are not alone. I haven't booked our flights from Denver yet either. It doesn't look like the prices are budging, so I may go ahead and book this week.

Just back from a quick weekend trip back home to Baltimore to see my family. Only DD and I went this time. DD had her very first experience sledding and had lots of fun, up to the moment she injured her hand yesterday afternoon. She has multiple fractures and we flew back early today to Houston to see an orthopedic hand specialist. She's scheduled for surgery on Wednesday to have several plates put in. :sad2: Only saving grace is that it is her left hand and she is right handed. She's very upset as she has her flute ensemble this week too. She's even wants to go to school tomorrow as she has 2 exams, and wants to pick up all of her work for the rest of the week. We'll have to see how she feels in the AM!

And you too, Mom. Been there done that many times over with my son. In kids, they often don't put the IV in until they've put them to sleep with a gas mask. They asked my son what flavor he wanted... he said chocolate! Maybe you can tell her that as something to look forward to? I know that sounds lame, but I think it's kind of cool.

Hang in there... we'll all be here, thinking of you guys.

Oh No! Please know our thoughts are with her (and you--sometimes it is harder on the moms than the kids). Poor thing.

Oh Sinnika! I am so sorry to hear that your daughter and family has to be going through this! It is so hard when our children get hurt. Good luck with the surgery and we will keep her and your family in our prayers for a speedy recovery. Karen

sinnika,
We are going through this same thing. My son broke his finger and hand in several places 3 weeks ago during a basketball game. It was hard to hear the specailist say he needed surgery and even harder to explain to him. I want to let you know that it all went very well and it only took a few hours before he was "like new". He is on his third and last cast that comes off on March 8. We are thinking about your daughter.
Let just hope this is the end of it all so that all of the kids...and us are well before the cruise!!!!

Today is the big surgery today. Kaitlyn is scheduled for 1pm. We spent a couple of hours at her high school yesterday visiting her teachers and getting assignments and she took one of her exams. She is doing some of her work now to keep ahead and try to keep her mind off of the fact that she is hungry. She's an early riser and always has breakfast as soon as she gets up, so nothing to eat or drink till after the surgery is going to be tough!
Last night we watched our nightly re-runs of Gray's Anatomy - she's a bigger fan than I and wants to be a surgeon herself. She asked lots of very interesting questions, like "will I have that tube in my mouth", and :"will my throat be sore after". She has never had an IV or even blood drawn for that matter, so this is all very thought provoking to her. She also asked "what's the worst that could happen, like, could the doctor accidently trip while he was doing the surgery and cut off my thumb?" and I told her, no, the nurses would make sure that didn't happen!" :thumbsup2 Even though DH and I have been in the medical field for 45 years combined, everyone is right, nothing prepares you to go thru it when it is your child.
Thank you all for your prayers and concerns. :grouphug: I'll write with an update this evening. :flower3:
