I would do it...:rolleyes1 Want me to wear scrubs and push her?? If you ask really, really nicely I'll even wear white and my hat from graduation. I never, never wear white....reminds me of school.

You bet!!!!! Do they really still have to wear those hats? We'll pull up to the curb and ask for a wheelchair! Then we'll all be ~~~>:dancer: party:

Then :tink: we'll sprinkle some pixie dust on her and the miracle will happen :ccat: she'll walk :rotfl2:

Okay, where should we meet...;)

Some schools wear them for graduation....

In practice, I saw some old timers and nuns wear them in Massachusetts.

Come to think of it, I've never seen anyone in Illinois wear one. I tried to get the nurses on my unit wear them for Halloween one year....I thought it could be fun with the patients who get confused with the date. We could tell them it was 1906 instead of 2006-:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: We didn't do it becuase we thought it would be in poor taste- but it would have been really, really funny. :lmao: Maybe it's just ICU humor, but I thought it was funny. We are all a little  in the head.

Too funny! Well, I definitely thought it was funny, of course I have a wicked & twisted sense of humor :rotfl:

Here's a link that was cool from another thread (I think, I can no longer keep them straight...hehehe) http://www.albaria.com/mondellowebcam.htm it is a web cam in Palermo. Talk about snorkeling....BoyHowdy!!!

I've been to several Italian cities and if you are one that needs to know where the restroom is, let me know, I can share restroom strategies.

 This from someone that is not young, has 4 kids (3 of them teenage boys, and could lose a little weight :) ) Oh, did I mention I drink tons of Diet Coke? :cool1: I guess it all adds a little relevance...or TMI..:rotfl:

Yes, please... I will be travelling with my older mother in law, plus after 2 kids, well you know.....:rotfl:

Do we know when the final boarding time is on the 26th? It shows 9pm for departing. How will they handle dining? Do we start our rotational dining on the 26th or do we just eat at the buffets like lunch?

Please do! Do they work like those in Paris? It was worth the minimal cost to have a clean bathroom. :thumbsup2

For those that are particular, toilet paper in some parts of Europe is not at all like the soft stuff we're used to.

I recommed those little purse/fannypack rolls of Charmin as a just in case. It is VERY true... I think that they use the sandpaper stuff to detur people from using public restrooms. That or plumbing systems just aren't as strong as the USA. :rolleyes1

40 years ago my mother collected samples of TP from all the places she visited while backpacking in Europe for 2 months! Kinda neat little keepsake idea for those twisted teens and kids. Make it memorable. She wrote on the squares details of where they were from. It is truly amazing to see the difference in brands and types... you have to see it to beleive it! :cat:

I really got a kick out of it! So we did the same thing the first time I traveled in Europe. I have a little box of TP!

We can always make it a group activity......Hubby is bringing his scrubs also...they are excellent PJ's!

Misseulalie,

Public restrooms in the city are....well....think hole in the ground. All public restrooms that are not in a building are pay restrooms. Typically they are very dirty and if they have a toilet at all, there is no seat, just the "rim" under the seat. I was told by someone who lived there for two years to always carry a little roll of toilet paper with you. (you can get them at walmart in the travel section or camping section - I think it's charmain in a prepackaged mini roll. About 1" in diameter.)

To save yourself some discomfort, I recommend never leaving a Museum, Train, or restaurant without going to the restroom (for those of us that have had more than one kid...:cutie: ) The restrooms are usually pretty good in these locations (I can't remember one that wasn't okay). Especially in Rome, a lot of the touristy things to do revolve around museums or other things that are in buildings. They will always have restrooms. Just don't pass up the opportunity :yay:

When we were in Italy, we several times saw people urinating in the street (especially in Venice). Several others did a little more :sad2:

I'm coming to your house in case of a disaster...:rotfl2:

Without the Italy reference I would have thought you were talking about the facilities in China. I learned to control and time my fluid intakes around hotel time NOT touring time.

Pushing grandma or ....... Never mind....JK :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Are you sure you live in Utah???? :lmao: See, I can say this because I am from there. We can knock our own, but no one else can.

Scrubs are part of the reason I became I nurse. I gladly traded in my high heels and nylons for scrubs and clogs. Going to work in your PJ's what could be better?

In regards to toilets and Europe...I distinctly remember the porcelain foot prints for you to stand over the whole in floor at the Vatican. Yes, this was the girls restroom. I am going to be less than delicate in saying this...you either learn to control the stream or end up with it down your legs. Sorry, I couldn't sugar coat that. I remember wondering why the Vatican of all places couldn't have sit down toilets. I also remember dirt pits at Pompeii. :scared1: This was 12 years ago...

Just steal the TP from the ship- less luggage you have to bring. :dance3: Or you can look at TP in your luggage as potential room for souveniers.

I am supposed to be receiving a letter authorizing me to operate a radio station on the cruise. Just wondered if there were any other hams going.

I am not a ham - my parents are! Will you be operating voice, morse, or some type of interface? I might be interested in reaching out to my dad - but I don't have a PTT license either (just for work - won't move with me of course)

I like the bathroom thoughts - yes I also have heard that the American chain restaurants maintain potties like we expect (from friends who have lived in Spain and other European countries)

As far as I know - a ham license is world wide. This is a group of people who just exchange ideas and conversations - much like a board but it is voice or morse code (Kissimmee - please jump in and correct me if I am wrong!)

My father used to collect QSL cards from all over the world - my mom receipies (she has quite the collection!!). (A QSL card is a post card confirming a conversation) He had stuff from almost every station in the world including Antartica ( a very rare station at the time I think). I never found out what happened to those cards after the house burned down...I should ask him.

Anyway - some repeater stations are for voice some for morse and others for specialized things like phone connection or microwave connection. My father has 2 repeaters that I am aware of in NJ - he maintains them and is responsible for the content on them. It was interesting growing up talking to people from all over the world on low band, then on high, then ultimately on ultrahigh. My father has an extra class license - mom is a general (what they are allowed to use in radio frequencies is the main difference in the types).

Ok - enough techno babble - it is bedtime - I have a meeting in 5 hours...
