Todd, the kids and I are interested in getting there are getting back with the group on the train.

We're planning on meeting a guide from Angels tour. The guide is walking us through the major sights. We start at St Peters square between (9 & 9:30), then the Colosseum and forum and ancient rome and finish with the historic center. We finish in Campo De'Fiori where they recommended we have dinner then back to the ship.

If that sounds like we'd fit in we'd be so glad to see some familiar faces as we're heading for the train station!

More about the Guide?

Please How much does it cost ?
How do we get one ?

Of course you fit in you will have a Lanyard!! :rotfl2:

Like the Group idea. No one should Go it alone!! :grouphug:

I Think it was your original Idea! :)

Yes, actually I was going to order them this week. I was going to get 100 of them. I guess first come first serve. I was going to pass them out at the DIS meet on the ship. Or if you want them earlier, just send me your address.

Do you all think 100 is enough? Too much???

I was thinking about getting 25 for the people who are doing the B2B.

Jen

I just sent you a pm

Part of me would love to join you guys, but part of me is also scared. Rome is so far from the port. I'm afraid if something goes wrong and we get back late and ....horrors...miss the ship, I will not be a happy camper. I can't help it, I'm a wimp!
Welcome to another day closer to the cruise!!! I will not be posting this message tomorrow- as I am NOT working. Maybe even sleeping, but probably writing papers.

Anyways, if you miss the boat- you just take a train to Florence and spend an extra day there and get back on. The train to Florence is about 33 Euro per person. I'm half tempted to get off in Rome and stay off- on purpose- and then get back in. I think trying to do Rome in one day is  - the same with Florence. I don't know why they didn't skip the sea day and do an over night in the port. :sad2:

We were also thinking about dinner time getting back to the boat. We'll have a 4 year old with us (she will barely be 4) so, we're thinking 10 hours is more than enough. So, we're not the slightest bit worried about missing the boat. And you're right the train system is set up that we could easily get to the next port and pick up with the cruise. All we really need is a new tooth brush! HMMMM camping on the Spanish steps??? We are definitely adventurers:thumbsup2

I think we could swing the tooth brushes for everyone who would be part of this adventure! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

And possibly a tube of tooth paste. (for each)
Just got 2 cases, 24 in each case...

I have been planing our excurisions and came across one in Villefranche that did not make sense.

Does anyone have a answer on the excursion "Spend an evening inside one of the most opulent edifices in the entire world - the legendary Grand Casino of Monte Carlo" when we are to board the ship at 5:30 p.m.?

What am I missing?

Schiffy:confused3

Schiffy,

I think I read somewhere that the Magic is not leaving until 11:30 pm.

Pocono

Jeanneg,

Loved the video. I wish I had that much creativity!

That makes sense. I am not sure where I got the itinerary, but does anyone know where the updated one is?

Thanks

The guide is from:
http://www.angeltoursrome.com/en/index.html
I have read about them with some good reviews, but no personal experience so cannot guarantee the quality.
We'll have a private walking guide for 3 tours (vatican, Colosseum/Forum and Heart of Rome.) They are charging $300 euros for the guide for the day for the 4 of us. Usual price is $150/per tour so they gave us a bit of a break. Admission to the sites is extra, but as I understand it they will have the tickets for us so we can 'pass the line' and save time. We like the idea of the guide just for us since we have a 13 yr old and a 10 yr old and we can taylor our time at each stop as we see fit. We can take a gelato or panini break when we're tiring out.

They would have arranged for a driver to pick us up a the port for an additional $330 euro's but we think we take the train and spend that money better elsewhere!

We'll be getting to Barcelona the 24th.

The answer is $$$$. It's some incredibly outrageous cost for them to stay past midnight.
