May 25th, 2013 Fantasy Western!

OK, Rae - got you on the spreadsheet!

So noted!

Added them to the list.

All right Becky - got you guys on the list. I have you down as two cabins participating separately (two FExtenders, two sets of gifts). If you meant to particpate as a single room let me know.

Perfect John. Thank you!

Hi John.... we decided to go for it... we're in for this Cruise!
We have gone on 9 Disney Cruises.... took a two year break.... and we can't wait to go on the Fantasy!! We've never done the "FE thang" and I always wanted to!! So, please put us down.. and include us on the wristbands as well.
Please explain how to reimburse for the wristband? 2 adults for that....
Gracias Amigo!! :yay:

Alright! Got you on the spreadsheet, but have an anomaly. Both you and StaceyNJ are in 9052. Now it could be they bowed out and you got their room (cool coincidence) OR one of you gave the wrong cabin number. I'm going back over the posts (sigh) to see if I made a mistake. I'll send StaceyNJ a PM and see what's up from their end

EDIT: Took a look at StaceyNJ posts and she's active on the 5/26 Bahamas meet thread, so I think she switched cruises on us. Confirming, but that looks like the problem.

EDIT AGAIN: Took StaceyNJ off our list.

Let me just say that those of u who don't have anything planned for Grand Cayman. I was just there in October and that is the most beautiful place for the clear tropical turquoise water. Most beautiful water I have ever seen. LOVED IT!!!! U guys should get out there and enjoy the beach or catamaran or something...it's too beautiful to pass up!!

Afergvip,

I have been thinking about your post and decided to book the shipwreck snorkel.:thumbsup2 I am still a bit hesitant because our youngest hates...HATES...fish in the ocean (even though that is where they live). I was thinking if the four of us go out on a boat for this tour maybe we could just take turns. One person in the water with our son and one person on the boat with Jazz.

Ultimately, I would rather do something that all 4 of us could enjoy together besides just walking through the shops at the port. Does anyone have experience with just getting to a beach on our own in GC or know where we could go to wade around in the water and the guys could through on their snorkels and play around while Jazz and I hang out on the beach? :confused3 I have read through many a thread, but I wanted feedback from our FE family.

Don't worry about it. I didn't do it the last time because I didn't really understand how much fun it could be. My girls were 5 and 6 at the time and understood that it was a special thing our friends decided to do and didn't seem upset at all. When we decided to do this cruise we reminded them about that from last time and they helped make the Gifts and have loved being a part of the experience so far. They can't wait to deliver them. Kids are more resilient than you think, if you don't make a big deal about it it won't become one. Our friends kids received so many special surprises that on the last morning at breakfast they gave a few extra things to our girls. It all works out! No worries!! Enjoy, it will be here before we know it! :)

So happy you are doing it this time!!!!:cheer2:

7 mile beach is a good choice or rum point beach. U can do 7 mile on your own. They are beautiful beaches.

There is always transportation you can take yourself right by the pier to whichever beach you want. Just make sure you are getting the reliable ones there which should have their rates posted. Lots of people do the beaches on their own.

Okeedokee... this is our first time as Fish Extender Participants... we just confirmed our cruise yesterday, so now I'm on the hunt for the right gifts! For those who have participated in the past-- please give some advice!!
I know we'll be divided into groups of 15 cabins....
Do we give gifts each day or do we have assigned days to the cabins?
We can personalize our gifts.. right?
Do we go to meet-ups for our group and give gifts to everyone there?

Plus, can someone refresh my memory on the name of our group?
Will help with personalization... gracias!!

Whew! So much to answer. Hit the link in my signature for the FE list. It's in google docs, so if you can get here, you can get there. There are tabs at the bottom. One has links to information regarding the FE Extenders. But I'm in a typing mood, so . . .

Basically you hang a "Fish Extender" outside your stateroom on the Fish or Seahorse that is used by Cast Members (CMs) to leave messages for you. The Fish Extender has pockets of some sort to hold the gifts that you'll receive. Sort of like your own shipboard mailbox. The Fish Extender can be bought (google Fish Extender and look at eBay or etsy) or there are directions for making one. They're so easy to make, even I could make one (I think).

So once you get on board and get your luggage sorted out, you hang your Fish Extender outside your door. And wait . . .

Sooner or later, someone in your group, usually accompanied by giggling younguns, will stop by and like Santa filling stockings, will leave their gifts for you. Meanwhile, you're traipsing your tired behind up and down hallways looking for the cabins on your list to deliver YOUR goodies.

You can leave just one gift per stateroom (at least one gift per stateroom) or can leave one per person or MANY per person/stateroom. You must get them delivered by noon on the last full day so that everyone has time to pack up their goodies, take down and pack their Fish Extender.

There are many threads on FE gifts on the board in the main Cruise Line forum. Some people will give gifts that are representative of their home state or country (Maple syrup from Vermont, hockey pucks from Canada :rotfl2:). Some people give cruise, pirate or Caribbean themed gifts.

The number one thing to remember is this is just for fun. Don't break the bank or stress yourself out. It's not a best gift contest.

OK, back to your questions.

  • No set time/date to deliver except to get them delivered by noon the last day.
  • Right now we have 48 cabins, so we'll have about 16 per list minus one for your own cabin. Total number of people per list will be variable, but I'll try to even it out if I can.
  • Name of group is "FANTASia Amigos!" (or Fantasia Amigos) :confused3
  • We'll be meeting somewhere on embarkation day so Diana can hand out bracelets and GET PAID!

Anything else? If I think of something, I'll put it on the spreadsheet. Really . . . take a look through some of the links . . . pictures of Fish Extenders and gift suggestions.

** yeah boss, I'm working. No, I'm not surfing that Disney Cruise forum thingy again, really! **

Yay! Glad you're in with the FE It's my first time too and looking forward to it!

I'm in charge of the wristbands and it looks like they'll be $2 ea. I ordered them and expecting them at the end of the month. Ill post a pic when they're here. So I'm not sure about what's easiest for payment. Should you all pay when you get them, or in advance. I'm ok with the first day of the cruise. What do u think?

Can I still sign up for the fish extender?! I'm cruising with a group but I'm the only one who will be doing it!

I think it would be easier to pay you when we meet up and get them if that is OK with you? Just think of all that "green" you will have to spend on the ship then.:rotfl2:
Have we decided on meeting somewhere around the family pool area? I think there is room there around the outer side with tables. Those of you who have been on the Fantasy or Dream before would know.:confused3
I don't know what time would be best but most people should be on the ship and done eating by 3:00 or 3:30pm. That would give us a little time to meet before the ship drill at 4:15.

Sure you can. Welcome! We have until the 24th before the list closes. Just think of how jealous your group will be when you get lots of goodies.:rotfl:
Here is what you need to provide for John since he is in charge of the list which can be found in his signature:

Thanks John for all of your well thought out answers about the FE!!
I am so excited to be part of this group! I am in the process of "doing my research" There was a thread with 79 pages of ideas... which was fabulous! From coasters, to scrapbooks to maple syrup, you were right, the ideas are endless!! I am well on my way now... so you should put me in YOUR group, hahahahaha! I am going the hand-crafted route, at least I have a few months to work on my projects! Thanks again for organizing all of us... you are appreciated!!
