May 25th, 2008 West Coast - Mexico

Thanks James for the number - my sister is going to need that. She's coming out of DFW also. We just did the Disneyland thing at the Grand Californian - our room had a fantastic view of the fireworks. I don't know if you've stayed there before but we LOVE this place, if you get a chance hit the Napa Rose for dinner. We're actually going to spend a couple of nights in Long Beach so we can walk to the Aquarium.

Can't believe we're going in 4 months! :dancer:

I'm planning on having a little wine party in our suite on our first sea day - so Monday afternoon sometime, haven't decided when yet. party: In 2005 we also met up first day Mickey pool side after boarding. After boarding we hit Parrot Cay for lunch then went to the Mickey pool, but an experienced dis'er told me it's better to just go to the pool and hit the buffet instead, so we might do that this time. Of course if it's too cold - the pool will be out. :cold: I'll be wearing a Dis Green Mickey paint sample in my lanyard - at least that's the plan so far.

Well, I thought I would post. Disney Cruises are so much fun my grandma and I went on Disney Magic 4 day cruise last August 2007. I am very excited and can't wait to embarke the ship come may.
Few little tips
-Bring plain white pillowcase, give to the front desk apon arrival to get characters signatures.
-Pirates night is awsome bring pirate clothes
- Don't forget to bring some arts and crafts to decorate your sateroom door

I ment to say I was on the Disney wonder. LOL!

Where are you from? How many times have you been on the Disney Cruises?

Hi All:happytv:
Sitting here watching some tele and opened up the web site.. The wine in the suite sounds pretty good for an idea. Our last cruise was in 05 and we had shirley send a basket to the room with wine and liquer we had purchased and took to her shop in Cocoa beach. But alas we were living in St. Petersburg and drove over to the site. Since we are flying out to LA from DFW we are going to limit the baggage and packing list until we get to the hotel and then try to find a Walmart or drug store for further items.. I was able to get a room on the park side for a view. We will probably be wearin our mickey green hats and last cruise I made Mickey ear pins with everyones name on it,but it realy got quite extensive with 40+ pins that I made for the DISers.. We are looking forward to this as I am diabled from the job and the DW and I had to move here when Xerox closed in St. Pete to streamline customer collection services.. Texas isn't so bad as long as you stay off the roads.hehe:scared1: Well enough said for the night.. talk more manyana.

dwonder6522, this is only our second Disney Cruise. In 2005 we did the Mexican Riviera also when the Magic came for Disneyland's 50th anniversary. We LOVED it, and have been waiting anxiously for them to come back to the West Coast ever since. I can't wait for the new ships, because I'm hoping :wizard: they'll permanently position a ship here on the west coast.

jrp, you'll love the park view - it's really beautiful - especially at night. Not sure if you knew this, but when they say "park" view they mean the California Adventure Park. The big Sun Wheel and California Screamin are really pretty lit up at night. We actually tried something different in September. We've always requested the park view, but this year we requested a Downtown Disney view. We ended a good two miles from the nearest elevator or stairs over the very corner of the big Disney store. Okay, okay, I'm exaggerating - but it SEEMED like two miles, but on the last night watching the fireworks form our balcony with the music on the tv was priceless. Especially since my little one didn't make and fell asleep. I was able to put her to bed, and keep the door open so we could hear the music (and her if she needed me) and sat on the balcony watching the beautiful fireworks which I'm sure I would have missed. Here's a couple of the pic's I took.

Of course the coolest thing is the back entrance to California Adventure Park - it's SO handy!

Hey, Exciting! Umm.... You watched the firworks at night from Disneyland while in your stateroom on the ship? How did you manage that one when the ship floats away at 4:00pm. What floor are you on, Hopefully we meet. Are you decorating your stateroom door?

No, no - sorry for any confusion I may have caused. You can't see Disneyland fireworks from the ship in San Pedro. I was discussing two different vacations. The first one was to your question about other Disney Cruises we have done - this was in June 2005. The other comment with fireworks pictures was to JRP and staying at the Grand Californian in Disneyland which we just did in September 2007.

Hi All
Thanks for the info on the fireworks from the room balcony. Yes we are going to decorate the door. Last cruise I had a different magnet for each day..I made up 2 posting magnets with sleeves on them and changed the saying and pictures. It was a lot lighter with the sheets of paper in them than a magnet sheet for everyday. It is a dreary day here above DFW as I had to put our cat (Jewels) down today.. We do have 2 other cats in the house. We are staying in a cat 10 on the cruise this time as we had a cat4 and then a cat 7. We will not have any kids with us and found that as a whole you dont spend that much time in your room-even if I am not doing real well.. We also found that we really didnt need all the items we brought for the packing list. Since we have not been on teh Mexican Riviera befor can you tell me about the weather? Is it comparable to the western cruise? We found that we mostly used shorts and bathing suits more than pants. I dont even think I am going to bring my tux(just a suit). Well I will continue looking for more post on this site and will help in any way, if I know th answer..

Mexico was warm and beautiful - perfect. Sailing out of San Pedro was cooler - although we did swim a bit that first day, and the last night sailing back to CA was down right chilly! I remember on the last night running up to deck 9 to grab something quick (chicken tenders - I think) and I was shivering. So, make sure you have some long pants as well as jackets.

If i can remember we are in the same cat, I am very excited i canot wait for this cruise i am looking forward to it more than i was in Aug when we last went on the Disney Cruise, In Aug we went on disney wonder. That explains my screen name . I think this is a great way to meet people who are sailing the same at the same time before meeting on the ship.

Ola everyone!

I can see that our thread is picking up! Are you all excited or what!! I can't believe the trip is coming up already! Where does the time GO!

We had several great trips to Disney last Dec. We go every year for the Christmas time. Plus, DD birthday is just days before. We did the character breakfast for the first time and really enjoyed it! LOVE ALL the food!

I've been taking notes of your ideas of what to do in Mexico. Keep them coming! Sure could use some of that warm sunshine right about now! Brrrrrrr....

We look forward to meeting some of you and hope you all have safe travels out to CA:goodvibes

Hey, I just found this on the web, thought of all of you:beach: mazagua.com Looks like fun. Still trying to figure out what to do:rolleyes1

I ment to say I was on the Disney wonder. LOL!

Where are you from? How many times have you been on the Disney Cruises?

This upcoming one will be my 4th, my mom's 3rd. Yep, I'm one up on her :) I got her into DCL!

EXCURSIONS - We still can't decide what to do. Plan on doing excursions in Cabo and PV, but doing our own thing in Mazatlan. Anyone have any suggestions on good excursions? Any idea how much the private villas in Cabo cost?

Hey I wont be sailing with you on May 25th, An opening for 15 Panama Canal cruise is available and that is the one we really wanted. hope you all have fun

Hi allpirate:
How arrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhh (got carried away) all of ya doing? Got my ressies for the room before and after the cruise and now just have to get my park hopper tickets from disney website.. I went by aaa here with no luck. Wen I lived in Florida there all kinds of deals. oh well..Had another shot on the oldddd back this wek and have even raked the yard... Looking forward to talking further to all here on the site--green is in.. James and D.Anne

:cool1: Woo Hoo, got a little booklet/packet in the mail from DCL called "My Cruise Travel Kit" - with the shore excursions and info about the ship! I don't know if this is a normal thing, an "already paid off" thing or a Concierge thing or what, but even though it's really just the website in print form - there was dancing in the house. :dance3: Which helped warm us up in this nasty snowstorm we're having! Have I told everyone yet - how sick of cold and snow I am... dreaming of warm sand beaches!!!!

Okay, I'm thinking Monday at 3:00pm would be a good time for a little wine reception in our stateroom. Please PM me a RSVP, so I can get a count of attendees.

We could also do the gift exchange at this time. Basically bring a little state specific gift in a bag and when your number is drawn you come and pick a gift bag (preferebly not your own)! ;) If someone would like to plan a meet for a different time and place and would like to do the gift exchange then, that is fine with me also!

Getting very excited here on: :cloud9:

WOW, you got your travel planning kit already? we have not got ours yet, I can't wait till it comes. i am getting really excited.

Hi DISers:dance3:
Having a meet and greet on monday at sea sounds like a good idea. I was trying to find a navigator for the mexican cruise but to no avail. The 3 Cabalerros I hope that you still have one from your previous west coast cruise, as if you do maybe you could e-mail a copy of them. Of course we do not want to miss the party for castaway cay members as I did ask and the rep said wven withought going to the cay they still give the gifts and still have the meet. Also a gift exchange would be a good idea and you can count on my DW and I to attend and participate in any way that we can..Party hardy and let the good times roll.. If you have the concierge you could also set up a bruch in Palo's--with 10 members we can have the back room for the brunch like we did last cruise..AAArrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhh.pirate:
James

The party sounds fun, but without knowing what else is going on, it'd be hard to RSVP!

Does anyone else here have small kids? Our kids will be 4 and almost 7 (turning 7 on the trip).
