May 25th, 2008 West Coast - Mexico

Hope everyone is keeping cool today. It is 106 here in San Diego and the humid:eek: and we are heading over to the Wild Animal Park for the "roar & snore" sleepover...we are gonna be roasting today:lmao:

I wonder if their tents have air conditioning:rolleyes1  LOL!

Have a great weekend

I LOVE the Wild Animal Park - have a great time!

Of course they do - its called "open the flap". :rotfl: Sorry, I couldn't resist. :upsidedow

But seriously, I'm sorry about the excessive heat - make sure you drink plenty of fluids. It looks like things should start cooling off nicely by Wednesday. Crossing my fingers that is true as we're headed out to So. Cal. this upcoming weekend for our Disneyland trip.

Thank you! we had a great time at the Wild Animal park:thumbsup2 The weather is SO much better now! feels like beautiful San Diego again. Hope you have a great time at Disneylandpirate:

Back from Disneyland, unpacked, and laundry mostly caught up... We had a GREAT time - really didn't want to come back, but we had to. I was able to do a number of things I've never been able to fit in - it was great.

So, now I'm ready to obsess about the cruise rather exclusively. Apologizing now to anyone I drive crazy! :lmao: So let the fun planning begin!

  1. Last Cruise we tried to play Stateroom Tag - although truthfully this didn't work so well. Our first or second day someone stole the Tag Magnet I had made and we never saw it again.
  2. We had a small group last time, so our gift exchange was something for everyone. Personally, I liked the way we did this on our Celebrity Cruise better, as we only had to buy a small token gift - related to our state or region, and then when we had a group meet, we had a drawing and exchange with everyone who chose to participate. Trying to buy for everyone got stressful for packing as well as rushing back to the store as newbies signed up. But with a single gift we can place a monetary limit and everyone who wants to particpate can - even up to the last minute with no problems.
  3. Fish Extenders - will everyone have one?
  4. Stateroom Door Decorations - whose doing them?
  5. I've never done a stateroom tour - but it sounds fun.

What other ideas does others have? Is there anything anyone would like to sign up for and take care of the planning? I've already committed to hosting a get together party so after I've figured on the "when", I'll post the information.

:surfweb:

Glad to hear you had a good time at Disney! I love Disneyland:thumbsup2 I will be making some door signs for the cruise...I had about 10 on our last seven day DCL. I believe every stateroom has the Fish Extenders where notes can be left. I never done the door tag or gift exchange but we have done a magnet exchange and that went over well.

oooohhhh a magnet exchange, that sounds like fun - so how did that work?

Some kind of exchange would be fun. I'd say don't restrict it to just magnets, though. If someone is good at a particular thing, they could make whatever it is they are good at. It'd be fun to meet some other people! We're going with some other family, but it'd great to have other people we know, especially for our kids!

Hello to all! Hope everyone is doing well. I read on a previous post that someone was looking for a hotel. It got me to thinking:rolleyes: Maybe, we should stay the night before as well. I found a web site that might be helpful.

SanPedro.com.

It has maps, hotels etc. Hope this will be of some help to others. I think most of us are some what local, but I haven't been to that harbor in some time.
I'll keep checking in on what you all come up with in regards of an exchange:cool2: Sounds fun:thumbsup2
Have a great day:goodvibes

Hi Everyone!
I am so glad to find a thread for this cruise date.
We had a great group online for our Med Cruise.
This will be our 2nd Mexican Riviera cruise. We can't wait.
We live in Northern CA, and have a Disney loving 5yo son, he'll be 6 when we sail.
We will be spending my DH's birthday (11/15) at Disneyland in a couple of weeks.

Hi everyone! Hope everyone survived the fires and your all safe.

We had friends living in our RV for the week. DH is a FF and was gone all week. He came home and slept for 2 days:upsidedow

Hello to Lynn. We will be at Disney as well. Nov-17-20!

Bye:grouphug:

Hi everyone,

This is Michael (and Wanda) and we will be on the May 25 2008 Mexican Riviera cruise. We are from Auburn, AL and have been on 3 DCL cruises. I proposed to Wanda on our second cruise and our third cruise was our honeymoon. We are traveling with friends from LA that we met on our first cruise and have cruised with ever since. We are an older couple and love to meet new people. We just got back from Disneyland, where we visited our friends, and had a great time. Wow, you guys on the West coast sure love your park!! It was beautiful with the Christmas theme! I have a whole new respect for Disneyland, having been to Disneyworld many many many times and having been partial to that park. Now, I want to see Disneyland again!!!

Anyway, hope to meet some of you guys.

Michael and Wanda

Hi everyone, to all newcomers :welcome: Things have been crazy busy around here, so I haven't posted in a bit. It shocked me to realize today, that our cruise payoff date is only 2 months away! :scared1: Guess, I better start sending the kidlets out to shovel walks for some extra cash. :rotfl:

Michael - I love DL. Don't get me wrong, DW is AWESOME! But comparing MK to DL - I have to side with DL. I'm not even sure I can explain why, but it has a more intimate feel, or maybe it's the knowledge that it was the original of all the wonderful things yet to come. I'm sure I'm not explaining this well - sorry!

Can't wait to cruise and see all you wonderful Disfolks!

Yes, I agree with you that DL is more intimate. It helped that we had our two friends and one of their families to guide us, all of whom were extremely familiar with DL and Disney. It was really special and the memories will be with us forever. I must say, Fantasmic! in DL is the real deal. I guess I have made up my mind to never make value judgements about any of the parks as they compare to each other. My past ideas of DL were based on one solo visit long ago, and they were proved magificently wrong.

The neat thing is that I often have mixed feelings about Christmas because of deaths in my family. A Disney Christmas celebration was just what I needed!! Similarly, I have mixed feelings about patriotism, but the Flag Retreat ceremony was just what I needed. Tears of joy for patriotism without politics. Wonderful! It was a very special visit.

Cruises are always special. It will be such a treat to see the Magic depart from a different port. Our emotions are always high on a cruise. We missed the Mediterranean cruises because of money and time problems. This will help make up for that!

Michael (and Wanda)

This is what we are considering for shore excursions - so far. What about everyone else?

Cabo San Lucas - Nikki Beach Escape
Sunbathe, swim or sit back and simply relax at Nikki Beach Club, a luxurious resort hotel located at the tip of the Baja peninsula. With a Mexican Buffet Lunch.

Mazatlán - Best of Mazatlán
Experience Mazatlán's finest! Watch the cliff divers take the plunge, tour the city Cathedral, and soak up the sun and surf at a local beach resort where a folklore show and a delicious Mexican lunch are only the beginning.

Puerto Vallarta - Las Caletas Hideaway
Surrender to the breathtaking natural splendor of Las Caletas — an exclusive tropical beach hideaway — where sunbathing, snorkeling and sightseeing are only the beginning.

Hey Guys! My DM (mom, 53) and I (25) will be on this cruise and we can't wait! Flying in from Michigan the day before! Staying at the Marriott by LAX on the 24th.

This will be my 4th Disney cruise, mom's 3rd. I have been on the 3-night, 4-night, and 7-night Eastern (St. Maarten and St. Thomas) and mom has been on the 3-night and 7-night Eastern (SM and ST also, with me).

Already planning the Chileno Bay Snorkeling at Cabo and the Signature Dolphin Swim at Puerto Vallarta. We have first dinner seating. Category 6 (Verandah) with possible upgrade (we'll see). Already got my Mickey luggage...and found a dress over the weekend! A little more than 4 months...

Hope to see some of you there! :)

HI All:dance3:
My DW and I are taking our 3rd cruise on the Magic out of LA. We moved out of Florida and into the great state of Texas right above DFW. We have been on the Eastern and Western cruise and we are looking forward to the Mexican Riviera with another group of DISers.. I am looking forward to talking on line and sharing info. Seeeya sooon:banana:

Just giving our thread a little *bump*

You guys - only a little over 4 months until we cruise :woohoo: It'll be here before you know it! :cloud9:

Hi all
My DW and I have booked the cruise and airfare in and out of LAX. We are staying at the Grand Californian Hotel for 3 days prior to the cruise and 1 day(night) after the cruise and this is where the tale takes a turn. I just talked to member services and guess what? No transportation is provide or available to pay for.. The onlyh thing available is from the hotel to the pier and then from the pier to the airport for 6.00 per person per. If we only use the service from the airport to the hotel it is 30.00 per.. I would anhy info that some of you may have on transport. From LAX to the hotel then from the hotel to the ship and then from the ship to Disneyland then back to LAX. This may turn into quite a fiasco..Thanks guys.

Hi All you DISers:banana:
Well I booked transport through supershuttle after talking to member services at Disney. It appers transport is not provided from the hotels, cruise ship or LAX.. The numeber for SuperShuttle is1-800-258-3826. If this number does not appear on the post you can e-mail me for the info. It was a little high but considering the distance from the areas in question, it sure is cheaper than a taxi. Next are the ressies for palo.. Its our 27th anniversary. Also have to get a hopper pass(through AAA). Is anyone trying to set up a meet yet of the green team? Last cruise we were on we set up the first day and then we had a meet at Palos in the private back room(excellent) Lets get the thread rolling, it will be here before you know it..
See Ya:grouphug:
