May 25th, 2008 West Coast - Mexico

I've really wanted to post, but I don't have anything to say right now! It's too early to do any definite planning. Too early to check the weather, plan shore excursions, etc. Sigh.

But I'm still so excited I occasionally jump up and down. =)

Hi tlynk and welcome aboard! What part of CA are you from?

Thank you. :goodvibes I'm from the around the Bay Area. I can't wait until next May. Looks like we are going to have a nice group of Diser's aboard.:)

MousseauMob and princessdaisy- you are either cruising Hawaii now or leaving very soon. :yay: Have a wonderful trip! I can't wait to hear about it when you return (and see some pics)!
We set sail in 10 days, and I think PrincessDaisy is the week before us. We actually leave next Wednesday since we are spending a few days in San Diego before we set sail. I've been frantically finalizing shore excursions, and packing, and stressing over getting my clothes back from the alteration shop - thought for awhile there that its was going to turn in to the "nekkid" cruise for me. :lmao: Luckily its all been worked out, and I have my clothes back!

Speaking of shore excursions - we booked a Dolphin Encounter at Sea Life Park on Oahu. This is the only dolphin interaction I've ever seen that allows little ones to participate. My DD(4) is SO excited! Anyway, come to find out they have a Sea Life Park in Puerto Vallarta! So, when we get back I'll be reporting back on our experience in case anyone is interested in it. We may actually do it again if it goes well this time.

Hi there:yay: What are you doing while your in SD? I'm just north. If you need anything just ask:flower3: Lot's of great things to do, which I'm sure you know:)

We have been to the Sea Life Park, and it's very nice. Wasn't able to do the dolphin then. DD's too young:angel: Should be really great. I know someone who did the Puerto Vallarta and they loved it. So, we are looking forward to that.

I've been hiding out and staying busy. Just returned from Las Vegas and seeing Josh Groban:love: Oh my, how I wish to be young again:rolleyes: I'm looking forward to next year and meeting all of you:grouphug:

Have fun on you trip!

Oh that is so good to know that Sea Life Park is nice. We're very excited about this part of the trip - well truthfully, we're very excited about the entire trip as you can imagine! :)

In SD I am realizing a dream I've had for a long time in staying at the Hotel Del Coronado. This is one of the hotels on my list of "must stay in at least once" - and even though we've been to San Diego a number of times, we just have never made it before. So I'm very excited about that - and having brunch in the Crown Room. We're doing Legoland and Sea World this trip. We may also go tour the USS Midway before we board the ship. I wish I could have fit in the Zoo, Balboa Park and the Wild Animal Park, but we just don't have enough time. Actually I wish I could have fit Disneyland in this trip also - but that's not going to happen either. :sad2: Oh well - we only have so much time.

Both the last Disney cruise we did and this Celebrity Hawaii one we are doing we did a gift exchange with the other people on the discussion board. Just a small (5.00 or 10.00 dollar limit) gift representing your home state. Out of the two, I like the way we are doing this Celebrity cruise better. Each person bringing a gift will exchange it for a gift - so you only have to bring one thing and you go home with one thing. On the last Disney cruise - we tried buying for the entire group. Granted it was a small group, but it was still stressful for last minute additions and having to run out and buy more and then packing it all. The only problem I see is on the Celebrity cruise the discussion board hosts a party onboard if they have more than 25 sign up - so there is a natural place to meet and exchange the gifts. Just something to think about as we're waiting for our fabulous cruise!

We're back from our Hawaiian cruise and I'm buried in laundry. Came home to find a letter saying that my dishwasher has been recalled for fire issues and not to use it. Then my personal desktop computer crashed and burned - it's toast! :badpc: I keep looking at the kids and asking - "All right, which one of you brought back the lava rock". :scared1: Legend has it - it's bad luck, but so far no one has confessed! :rotfl2: We had a wonderful time and realized we LOVE cruising (even when we got 25 - 30 foot waves and swells) and can't wait for our Disney cruise!

I swear by green applies now for sea sickness - munching these worked for all of us at one time or another. Helped better than the ginger. Also with the bonine - the sleepiness went away, but what I learned is that you have to start taking them a couple of days before sailing. the hour before sailing thing, didn't work well.

Never realized before that luggage can actually reproduce. We started out with 6 bags and came home 9 bags! :confused3 Of course the big blue monkey the size of DD4 that she won in Legoland before we sailed didn't help. I had to buy an extra bag to pack him in he was so big.

Food Network is airing tonight "Your Hawaiian Wedding" which was filmed on the ship we took to Hawaii, can't wait to watch it.

:welcome: Happy-At-Disney! So, glad you joined us!

:) Welcome back!

Sounds like you had a grand time:banana: we love Hawaii and I was also asking the kids & hubby NOT to bring any rocks, lava, shells back:rotfl: don't need no Kaupu;)

We are busy here getting ready for preschool graduation and Junior High graduation...whew! will be nice to relax this summer and get some Disneyland visits before our annual pass expires:idea:

I feel like I'm having serious withdrawls. Our cruise is far enough out that things aren't "hopping", and I keep checking... but alas - I have no e-friends soon to be cruise buddies posting. I think my problem is we had such a busy group for our Hawaii cruise, but after getting back there was NOTHING and our next cruise isn't for 11 monts and so the board hasn't heated up yet... thus the withdrawls :sad2:

We booked a trip to Disneyland, but it's just not quite the same. Land vacations don't seem to get the roll call groups like a cruise. Maybe because on a cruise everyone is really stuck going the same place together - so there's a bonding. You know, all in the same boat together! ;)

We've also started planning an Orlando WDW/curise and Universal trip for 2011. After we heard the news of Harry Potter world at Universal - this became a must. :lmao: So, am I nuts to try planning something that far out - okay, don't answer that - of course I'm nuts! What I really should ask - is anyone else out there nuts like that?

Add me to the nut list;) we just got back from Hawaii cruise in April and guess what? we are taking a 3 day DCL & WDW vacation this July:eek: I had to fill my DCL withdrawl and the three day fit into our vacation plans. Crazy, yes, I know...but our 7day cruise is soooo far away:rolleyes1 ;)

Cool - that's what we'll do in 2011 also, have a 3 or 4 day cruise and WDW/Universal the rest of time. Okay, I have a question (for anyone) - when you go to WDW do you go to the Magic Kingdom? I'm seriously considering just skipping the Magic Kingdom. I've been there before, but truthfully I like Disneyland so much better. So I'm considering skipping it and just focusing on Universal, Epcot, MGM, and the Animal Kingdom. Is this a bad plan?

We did Magic Kingdom once but we also like Disneyland better (and we have annual passes for DL). We usually skip MK and concentrate on our fav's Epcot, AK, MGM and the pool at the resort. We will be staying at Beach Club villa for our July trip...the pool area there is AWESOME!!

We usually plan not to do Magic Kindgom, since we go to Disneyland quite often, but at the last minute we sqeeze MK in for a 1/2 day. We spend most of our time enjoying the rest of WDW. Yes, I agree Disneyland is much better than MK, but I'd prefer to spend a week at WDW. :wizard:

Thanks, I feel much better about considering missing MK - although if we do have a bit of spare time I may go ahead and add it. I've only been to WDW once and it was 11 years ago. There is SO much to see and do there that I'm totally overwhelmed and freakin a bit about how to plan this. :scared1: Which is why I was thinking of forgoing MK - due to time limitations mostly. I know I would like to do a 3 or 4 night cruise, just so we have the chance to experience Castaway Cay. Does anyone have recommendations or suggestions on what is better a 3 or a 4 night cruise? Any other tips or recommendations would be appreciated also!

Thanks again!

Yeah - DS (12) is finally comfortable enough in the water to dive under so we can go snorkeling. We've been practicing while swimming and he's really enjoying it. I'm so excited because this means we'll be able to do some snokeling in Mexico when we go. So - here's the question. DD (5) is also doing it (there's no convincing her she's smaller/younger than her brother, she HAS to do everything he does) :rotfl: , is 5 too young for the snokeling excursions? Does anyone know the minimum age limits?

On the Eastern & Western seven days there are snorkeling excursions with a minimum age of five...so maybe on this cruise that will also be the case? Congrats to your son!:thumbsup2 He's gonna love snorkeling. My five year old just got comfortable swiming under water this summer but I don't think he would feel comfortable snorkeling in ocean but my 14 year old LOVED IT:cool1:

We just got back from a 3 day Wonder cruise last month combined w/a trip to Disney World. I really liked the Wonder ship...was a nice time and water at Castaway Cay was warm!

Hope everyone had a great summer! Sending my kids off to school next week. One starting High School and the other, Kindergarden:scared1:

My DH, and DDs (13 & almost 9 at time of cruise) will be joining your wonderful group. We did the inaugural in May 2005 and we're so excited to have the Magic return to the West Coast. We've been on several cruises and would rank the Disney Magic as our favorite.

I had a lot of fun getting caught up and reading all the posts. Sounds like a fun crowd! We just got back from doing the NCL - Pride of Hawaii (we had a great time). To be honest, we are REALLY excited about going back on the Magic!

Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Lara
