May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

Hi everyone :wave2:

I had to get a cortisone injection in my heel today, so now I'm off of my feet for a couple of days. I really just want to be able to enjoy the cruise without being in so much pain. I have to go back to the podiatrist in 3 weeks, and he said that I could get another injection right before the cruise. I hope they help. I've had these injections before, but my feet weren't this bad before. Oh well, I'm going to be optimistic. :)

That certainly does! I can't believe you get all of that (including 6 pairs of shoes?!) into one checked bag. I have to learn how to pack properly. I feel like I am more like your friend Michael :) I am leaving my laptop home too - my goal is to make this trip electronics-free. Do they supply the normal hotel size shampoo and conditioner? I like my brand and was wondering if I should bring it or not. Decisions, decisions!

They will give you as many bottles of shampoo and conditioner as you need. They're the usual size that you get in hotels, but the brand is pretty nice. I haven't used the DCL products but I've used several of the products from the WDW resorts. The brand is H2O.

Ick!! Went bathing suit shopping, 3 stores, didn't like anything.

I have 2 bathing suits from over the years, they'll have to do .. this is too stressful! LMAO!!

Maybe if I was able to stick to my diet for the next 8 weeks :D

Well I made the mistake of hobbling in to the mall that is right next to my podiatrist's office and ended up in mental pain as well as physical pain, after trying on some bathing suits. :lmao: Needless to say, I didn't buy anything. :rolleyes1 How the heck did this past year fly by so quickly? It's as if I had several months to lose weight, just a couple of weeks ago! Now the cruise is only 2 months away. Well, maybe I could go on the "Survivor" diet and lose some weight. LOL

Good luck with the foot! :)

OMG! Yeah, survivor diet - what's that ... stranded in the middle of no where with nothing! LOL

Yes, that's the diet! But I'd definitely bring my laptop with me so I could keep posting on the DIS. LOL

Umm- my usual problem with luggage isn't the amount of stuff - it is the weight. I can get about 80 pounds of stuff in a standard 27" bag. So I bought a 25 hoping it would help - not so much!! Now I have to be careful I don't hit 60 pounds. Compression bags are my best friend. Some of the shoes go in carryon, and I always wear the heaviest pair. Packing is an art I am finding out...seems I am a natural at it. My owners locker weighs about 80 pounds...they hate me :rolleyes1

the "products" you receive a 2.8 oz size of each every day (if you hide the tubes) include: H2O hemp shampoo (love it, love it, love it), H2O deep conditioner (too heavy for me to use every day -once a week usually does it!), H2O body butter (OMG!!!! NIRVANA!!!) I hoard this stuff - ask for extra and leave weight allowance to cover as many tubes as I can possibly cram into my luggage. You also receive a bar of H20 hemp soap - this stuff is very drying, but will take off sunscreen super easy and rinses very easily. I understand they use these products because they require the least amount of processing for the water reclaimation process.

I was wandering through CostCo the other day (I also HATE bathing suit shopping) and saw these awesome Speedo :scared1::scared1: suits...I was like, yea right - SPEEDO????? not this fat tushy...well, I decided since CostCo has a full return for any reason at all policy I would get one. I checked the size chart (GADS - an 18?!?!?!?#) sigh...I do NOT wear an 18. Especially since I have just lost 15 pounds. Bigger SIGH...I got it. I had to shorten the straps (I have a very short torso - all my height - what little there is, is in my legs). Voila, perfect fit, nice suit, all for 19.00. I can live with the number on the tag!

SeaSpray - good luck with the feet - My hunny massages mine every night to keep me walking at WDW or on the ship. Plantar Fascitis is just plain nasty.

I've had plantar fasciitus (can't spell it!) as well, had it for 2 years. Only thing that worked for me was the steroid injections - had to have them twice, but the second one did the trick. I lived in my crocs for 2 years, was the only thing I could confortably wear on my feet. Got some strange looks at work wearing them, as I'm a police officer! :rotfl:

Diet has gone well for me - weighed myself this morning as Friday is my weigh day, and another 3 pounds gone today, so in total that is 2 stone and 9.5 lbs gone. Someone asked on facebook how many pounds in a stone, there is 14, so I have lost 37.5 pounds. Still look awful in a swimsuit though!

Had an operation this week, only fairly minor. Glad I took my meal bars to hospital as the food was awful. So glad I was only in one night. Back to work tomorrow, only working this weekend and then I am off for 3 weeks! :)

Thanks! I've been battling plantar fasciitis for years now, off and on, but it's never been this bad. That's one great hunny that you've got there!

Hi Georgette:

I'm doing ok. Getting ready for my trip to New Jersey. I'm taking Amtrak from Boston to Metropark NJ on Tuesday.

I'll be gone for 2 weeks, but I'll have my laptop with me. I'll be staying at my niece's house in Toms River for most of the 2 weeks, but then at my sister's house in Freehold for the last few days. I'm looking forward to going, I haven't seen them since September.

Regarding the FE gifts... I'm basically going to be putting together gift bags for each cabin, and each bag will have the same items in them. Also, I'll be handing out the lime green leis on the first day. :) Not sure what day we'll distribute the FE gift bags, but probably within the first couple of days.

I had originally planned on making FE gifts, but I'll end up just buying items instead. I apologise in advance to anyone who feels that non-handmade items aren't good. Because of my current health, it's the best I can do. :guilty:

I dont think people think non crafty gifts are bad. It's the thought.

I've changed my mind 3x already lol

I don't think that anyone will think that they aren't good!!! I'm doing a mix of both. Something crafty and the rest bought!

I think most people are happy with the concept and thought, not the item. I have gotten so many useful "purchased" items...and as many cute hand made items...they are all appreciated and enjoyed!

Hi everyone!

I haven't been around in a while, but had a quick question.

I've been trying to add activities to our cruise and noticed that transportation to the parks on 5/30 gives an end time (so I chose 7:15am to be on the bus to DHS and it says the time frame is from 7:15am - 3:15pm) I thought we had all day? Do we only get that short time frame? I'm sorta bummed about that.

That's strange. Mine says 9:15am until 10:45am because that's the amount of time it takes to drive there. I am under the impression we have all day - the last shuttle out is 11:00pm from what I have read.

I think that return transportation starts at 3:30pm

Do we have to book return transportation? I'm sorta confused about how it works...

I believe you are correct ... I didn't see any time for a return bus.

I guess we just wait in line when we want to leave.

Thank you!

I clicked on the descriptions and read that the last bus from MK is 11pm so I felt better about our plans to stay for Wishes. :)
