May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

The 2013 itineraries for the Magic and Wonder were announced today....with no NYC planned for next spring/summer.

Me too! I'm so glad we booked out of NY this year. We can't wait to sail past the Statue of Liberty. I'm getting butterflies just thinking about it!

Its been a while since i've checked in, but wanted to let you know what is happening.

DH had to take a HUGE 35% pay cut back in Sept. We thought we would be able to pay off the cruise even with his cut, but we were not. :sad2: So I kept waiting for the 2013 dates to come out...but when they did there was no NY :sad1::sad1:

So I called today to just rebook a dummy date..so we could keep our reservation active. The cast member found one of the cheapest dates she could which was January 26th 2013. And the cabin was approx the same price as what we had already....then she asked why we were moving our date. I told her about hubbys job..she asked if I was leery about returning to the seas I told her not with Disney she then told me to hold on

she comes back and says she "up graded" our cabins from deck 6 to deck 8 and instead of adjoining cabins she got us connecting cabins :thumbsup2 Then she says "would you like the price?" I say "yes" and she quotes me a MUCH lower cabin price then what we had AND what their website says it should be. Lower by $1500 on cabin number one and $2000 on the second.:eek: I was silent for a second and she says "Thank you for continuing to sail with Disney"

Now weather she discounted them so much because of the recent cruise ship disaster or for hubbys job I'm not sure, but now there is zero doubt that we can't go. So next Jan we will be sailing to Pureto Rico :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: I'm sad we won't be with all of you and seeing Mrs. Liberty, but at least we get to visit Mickey after all :lovestruc:lovestruc

I was trying to update my cabin on FE List but I couldn't do it. Can you add in that we are in cabin 6036. We also have cabin 6038 but we are only going to put the fe on one door since we only have a family one.

:cool1:

Email states you can take a bus back from WDW at 11pm. The latest bus. Says we leave or need to be onboard by 1130pm. We dont leave at that time? Says its 90 minute ride. I think less but thats okay.

Whos to say we will be back if last bus is 11?
I am never sure why Disney quotes 90 minutes - the ride is more like 60 minutes in the worst traffic. I usually can make the drive in 45 or a little more. Yes, they will most likely take attendance when boarding and call the ship - When I was in St Petersburg we were 2 hours :scared1: late, the ship left late because we were on DCL authorized transport.

Can anyone tell me if the Photopass exists on the cruises? I've always liked using that service when we go to the parks and thought it would be convenient on the ship as well.
There is a photo company that is onboard - they are NOT DCL employees (cast members) but are very nice and friendly. I have had them use my camera while onboard, but not while on shore...go figure. The same person will do it one time and not the next, very hit and miss.

Is the FE thread up to date? :)
It is now...I was away over the weekend, sorry :(

Hi! Could I join in on the FE list? Please tell me what info you need from me! Thanks :)
Check the link in my signature for the list for this cruise, PM me the information on the spreadsheet and I will add it. Welcome aboard!!!

Hey gang.....man, I haven't been on the boards for months!! Need to start getting ready for the May cruise as our 120 day window opens this week.

Aidan is a boy.
Delaney is a girl.

I promise I'll be better about keeping up to date from now on!!!
Got the genders done - boy did I miss the boat on that one!

Congrats on the awesome upgrade, sorry you will not be sailing with us...another time, maybe. Good luck with the income change that is always tough. I will remove you from the FE list.

The list is a locked read only list, I saw what happened on another cruise where everyone had edit privledges - the list is still messed up! I have added your cabin number. If you want both cabins on the FE list I will put a second line in, or if you have more children in the second cabin I can add their names to the primary cabin to ensure enough items are delivered if folks are doing gender/age specific gifts. Just let me know :)

Thanks for updating our cabin number! No need to add any more names, you've got us all listed!

The boards are so slow right now! It's crazy how long it's taking for pages to load.

Let us know what you end up booking! I can't wait until February 25th when I'm able to book Palo and excursions. :surfweb:

Hi everyone!

I figured I'd join this thread now that we've officially booked (yay!).

I do have some questions about the Disney World day... is DCL providing buses for free to the parks or do we need to pay for the transportation? Also, since food isn't included, does anyone know if it's ok to take some snacks off the ship for the kids?

Thanks!

Welcome!! :welcome: Let me know if you'd like to be added to the list of cruisers in the first post. :)

Congrats on the excellent booking rate, but I'm sorry you won't be sailing with us. Have a great time on your cruise. :sunny:

Any Montrealers cruising on this date???

:welcome: Welcome to the thread for this cruise. :)

Is everyone OK with closing the list at the 30 day mark? If so, that will make the list closed as of April 25.

As of now the number of cabins is under 20, so we are on a single list. If this swells to over 40, I will split the list in half, folks can be on half or whole.

My question is this....
split by deck or fore/aft if the group swells?

just a general question, I personally will do the whole list, but others may choose to do a smaller group.

Whichever you'd prefer.

I've never done a FE before, so I have no point of reference.

I've already bought gifts and making some as well. Either I'll have too many or not enough LOL

The 30 day mark sounds good to me. I guess I assumed that the first 20 cabins would be a group, and then the next 20 would be a group, but the idea of splitting by deck or fore/aft makes sense too! :)

I am OK with closing the list at the 30 day mark. I am fine going by deck, or by fore/aft...I would probably do the whole list anyway.

Things are starting to come together. We had the 120 day window, so now all of our reservations are done. We have scheduled a Palo brunch, a Palo dinner, a couple's choice spa treatment, dolphin encounter at Blue Lagoon, Stingrays and Parasailing at Castaway Cay. We also selected the transportation for WDW. And yesterday I found t-shirts for the kids to wear at pirate night. We got them from the National Aquarium in Baltimore...they are skull and cross bones made out of glow in the dark sharks. Now we just have to find something for the grown ups.

Closing at 30 days to go is fine with me. I will probably do the whole group as well if it goes over 20 cabins, am well on the way to getting my FE gifts sorted out!

I'm so jealous :3dglasses

I'd have to make final payment, plus being a first time cruiser, have to wait my turn :)

I don't think we are doing Palo ..

Couples spa sounds nice... wonder if my hubbie will do it ;)

I know my gf wants to get something done onboard, massage or nice facial would be awesome!

Stingrays .. NICE!! did that in Grand Cayman and loved it!!!

I think I might see if my son wants to do it with me, as my husband freaked last time - he's not a good snorkeler, well he doesn't have the breathing down pat, he's a mouth snorer! LOL ;)

We did the dolphin encounter at blue lagoon a few years ago. my boys loved it and the area was really nice. it was a good relaxing day!

:goodvibes

I'm also good with closing at the 30 day mark, and I probably would also do the whole list unless it got gigantic!

I highly recommend the Stingray adventure at Castaway Cay for families with children. We did it last year with our daughters (then ages 8 & 5). Snorkeling is not required because they get the stingrays to come up to you in knee deep water and a very controlled environment. My 5 y/o was afraid, but we were surprised that she got right in there and liked petting the rays. The 8 y/o was feeding and petting them, also snorkeling around trying to pet them after the controlled encounter was over. It was a great experience for everyone in the family.

Congrats on getting all of those bookings!!! :yay: I hope that we're able to get Palo brunch and dinner because my DS20 has been waiting for many years to be old enough to dine there, and he'll be with his DGF on this cruise, so I know we'll all have a great time.

I'm going back and forth between doing the Couples' Spa Villa or a cabana on Serenity Bay. Then again, depending on finances, we might not do either one. LOL

If your husband isn't the best swimmer, I'd recommend the Stingray encounter on Castaway Cay. I did that in 2006 and it was fun. I was kind of afraid to do any of the stingray excursions on the other islands because they're out in the open ocean, and I knew that Disney trims the stingers/barbs on the stingrays on their island, so it's safe to pet them. (The barbs grow back, just like our fingernails do, so it doesn't hurt the stingray to have them trimmed very short).

We're considering doing the Blue Lagoon Beach Day so it's nice to hear that the area itself is nice. :)

Just wanted to add that I recommend it, too. For kids, or adults like me who wanted to pet stingrays without having to worry about water that was too rough/choppy, or getting stung.
