May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

For everyone doing the B2B, don't forget that you will be doing the turnaround at Balantyne, not Canada Place. Balantyne is outside of the Downtown area and there is really nothing in that area to do/see. The only option for transportation is taxi (unless DCL is providing a shuttle) so this may be something to consider if you are planning on getting off the ship and taking in some of Vancouver!

Many posters have commented/complained that you can only charge one phone at once, when in fact there are two ways to keep multiple phones charging at the same time.

Method 1: Spare Battery Charging Slot:

Behind the main charging slot you will find another small slot with a thin metal strip on top. If you pull the battery out of the second phone and slide it in that little slot, underneath the metal strip, you will see a light go on and it will start charging. Works great for overnight charging of two phones.

Method 2: Micro-USB port

If you look at the phone and the charger in detail, you'll see that everything is powered by USB power and micro-USB ports. This is the same port type used to charge most non-Apple phones, Kindles, etc. With power strips now outlawed and outlets limited I just brought two of the Anker 5-port USB chargers that others have recommended here (these are handy at home too), along with plenty of cables. So with 10 USB charging ports at our disposal there was no problem keeping wave phones fully charged. If someone wanted to free up an extra outlet, they could charge both phones this way and get rid of the bulky charger altogether.

On a side note, we used the wave phones often since we were traveling with another family, but like others found them a little dated and clumsy to use. But they got the job done. With the Navigator App now available on all the ships and WiFi coverage pretty good, I see no reason why they couldn't just integrate text and talk into the app, which would eliminate the need for wave phones all together.

Hope this is helpful! Sorry I couldn't post links or photos to make it clearer.

 Oh my goodness! I never caught there was an extra battery slot in the back. Thank you for sharing this for silly people like me who still need to catch on.

I got mine yesterday, for both cruises, but didn't have time to go through them, so I didn't notice. I sure hope they have a Disney representative at Canada Place that is directing people to Ballantyne. Can you imagine getting there and not seeing the ship at the pier and wondering what the heck is going on?

Just finished reading the other threads, and I see we were thinking alike.

You have to read closely but it's on page 10 of the travel booklet. It's in bold mid page and says " Port of Vancouver address for 5/24 voyage ... ". There was an email I think that had more information that included the times for the shuttle from Canada Place to Ballantyne

Mine is on Page 9 of the Booklet towards the bottom of the page, but it still says Port of Vancouver 999 Canada Place. So I too hope for the sake of any passengers who show up at Canada Place that there is a CM directing them to Ballantyne or there might be some pissed off cruisers. Especially those with later PATs trying to make the ship on time.

Anybody want to take bets on whether or not we leave Vancouver on time? ;)

does anyone know more about the pixar pals party?

Basically it's a bunch of Pixar characters who meet in the Atrium and disburse throughout the atrium for pictures and some dancing. It lasts about 45 minutes.

my GTY status has landed me on deck 5 with a big window. Super excited.

I missed this before. YAY! Deck 5 is getting to be as popular for this group as Deck 7. :goodvibes And Yay big window for you! :thumbsup2 Glad you got what you wanted.

:rotfl: I bet a Mickey Bar we will be delayed. Thank goodness the next 2 days are sea days so the ship has time to catch up with the hypothetical delay.

And so far it's still scheduled for May 30 (Day 7) at 4:30p.

When I called DCL before they said you get a chance to see many Pixar characters that you wouldn't necessarily see in the parks :thumbsup2

On our Pixar cruise in 2012 we saw:

Mr. & Mrs. Incredible and Frozone
Mr. Fredericksen, Dug and Russell
Flik and Ata
Remy and Emile
Woody, Jessie and Buzz
Mike and Sully

Nice! Glad you got that so fast. We get to sit here and wait still for our VGT room still :faint:

I am NOT taking that bet! :rotfl2:

For anyone looking for a FB invite, you can PM me with your email address (that is how someone you aren't friends with will be able to find you and invite you). Other people already in the group can invite people they know as well directly from friends list or I believe also via email search. But please send me your email if you are requesting to join. Thanks :surfweb:

Forgot to post that we received our cruise documents Tuesday. Still waiting impatiently for our IGT room to be assigned.

30 Days til we all sail!!!!!

We got our documentation about a week ago, assigned Room 6148, Cat. 06A. Can't wait to see Beautiful Alaska. Although I'm still struggling with what clothes to bring. Being from Middle Georgia, I don't own a raincoat, which I guess I will need to buy.

Me either!

As long as I am on the ship, I don't really care what time we leave, well, maybe except that the shops can't open until we leave, but there is plenty of time for shopping later on.

I just want to go under the Lions Gate Bridge before our early dining time.

Disney gave us ponchos when we went on excursions two years ago in Alaska. You will definitely need a raincoat.

I'm in ATL :thumbsup2 I'm packing my parka, gloves, hats, scarfs, boots and rain ponchos from Disney. Big Winter Jacket, many thick heavy socks, and layers.

But that is because it has been in the 80s here all week. Meaning, I am going to be cold even if the weather is 65 there, :rotfl2: but especially on the glaciers.

Not sure if everyone got one, but I just received an email from DCL about Canadian Immigration changing. The program for direct immigration if you are on a cruise (something like that) no longer exists so if you were planning on using that, you can't, you have to go through the same ol immigration and customs lines as everyone. I believe it was only for people arriving that day and going from airport directly to port.

I posted the email on FB but can't here via phone. If anyone has questions feel free to ask and I can forward you my email.
