May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

Please see my post (from page 65 on 2/10) from my TA regarding her discussion with Luiz (and his contact information) regarding the shuttle from Canada Place to Ballantyne and how it WILL be available to all even without parking for free and without reservations needed.

Oops! I did miss that post. Sorry about that. I skimmed a page or 2 (or 5) trying to quickly catch up on the thread. I was going by the letter I had in my hand and what the DVC rep explained when I called in. I think I'm just going to stick with cabbing it so I can be on my own time, but hopefully many of you who want to will be able to take advantage of the free shuttle. :goodvibes

We were on deck 5 on wonder in oct and loved it!

Yay! Good to know. I only picked deck 5 because I wanted to try out one of the SPRs. I stopped doing a verandah because I'm hardly ever in my stateroom so it wasn't worth it for me, but I learned after having an 11C on my Med Cruise that I at least need a window even if it includes a view of a railing.

I put a request in to join FB group as well. I know it is hard to keep track of bigger groups. I am starting to research airfare, but I might wait until March to book the airfare.

I need to figure out which hotel has a free shuttle to the new pier.

To be honest, until Dec I was fully booked to travel to Morocco and ride through the Sahara Desert. Now instead, I will be on a glacier in Alaska. That pretty much sums up my 2014. :lmao:

I approved some people this morning over there (I didn't start that group, someone else did and then he left the cruise and put me as admin. Thankfully there is nothing more there than keeping up with people who want to join the page when it comes to adminning stuff there!). So you should be good there. Let me know if not.

What changed your mind (and hemispheres)?

Deleted, responded in the wrong place. :headache:

Uh ok haha

I'm going to believe there is more that Disney will communicate to us about the pier and shuttle as it gets closer. I figure that they just delivered the initial info as a heads up and more will probably be made available in our packets when they ship those out. I didn't think they meant ressie for the shuttle (like ME) but for the car parking as that was always mentioned that you needed a reservation to park at Canada Place. Good to know the shuttles are just that...shuttles when you get there I guess. I only wish we knew the hours they would run.

My crazy life :lmao: I book my vacations over a year (18mo) in advance. So I was booked to Spain, Morocco and Portugal. So excited  I went to Australia and Fiji for Thanksgiving, came back in Dec to find out my son was invited to play soccer in Amsterdam with Ajax for 2 weeks in April. So I changed to the week Alaska cruise because I thought going to Amsterdam for two weeks then heading back to Europe for almost a month 2 months later was a bit much.

I just got back off the 4 day Dream and ended up being iced out of ATL (I got off Thursday) so I was stuck in Disney and I got a call from my son's coach that he was invited to play in the Cayman Islands on Monday with Swindon.:eek: Airfare was insane, plus the added cost of being stuck in WDW. I just thought saving the $1500 will come in handy with all the other expenses I wasn't expecting. So I made the 2nd switch. :thumbsup2

For the record, anyone that thinks their teenage daughter is really expensive, hasn't met my 13yo son. :rotfl2:

:drive: Finally reserved parking! Now just anxiously waiting until I can start reserving/booking with DCL! :hyper:

 Working on FE's and ran out of the main Alaska themed component, went online to order more and they are all gone!!!! Totally sold out!!! With no indication that they will get more stock in.:sad::sad:

I read it the same way, that the ressie was for parking, but the shuttles were from the cruise terminal and not the parking. I was thinking they will just have an area with signs near the cruise terminal for the shuttles and people directing the hoards. But I think you may be right and they will include more details in our cruise documents. I also think the shuttles may be running later than I'd like to get to the port, so I think we'll be taking a taxi. Although we may change our mind depending upon the details.

Wow, now that is some serious frequent flier! ;)

Hi everyone! We just switched to this cruise from the 6/30 cruise!! The gt rates were just too great to pass up. It will be me-Kristina 29 and Paul 29. So looking forward to 9 lovely days!!

He sounds like a rock star soccer player. :cool1: I bet you're a proud mom (despite the expense)

I plan my vacations a year to 18 months in advance also because I only have specific windows of time that I can travel. Thank goodness for the invention of trip insurance. :rotfl:

Deck 5 is our favorite on the classic ships

Cool! I'm beginning to get excited about life on deck 5. Do share what makes it your favorite?

Do you have a favorite deck on the newer ships. I've only been on the Fantasy once (Deck 7) and not yet on the Dream so I'm interested in other opinions.

Hello everyone. We just booked an igt! So excited to be planning our first Alaska Cruise! It will be myself (Nichole), my hubby Brad, my daughter Kailyn (14) and my son Joshua (11). We sail out on our anniversary! Off to join the fish extender group!

Dang! That's awesome the opportunities he has but if that is at 13, wonder what it will be like when he is 16 ;) At least you likely won't have to pay for college if he goes pro or the very least he gets a full ride. :rotfl:

Hi to both of you!! Welcome.

I don't know if we were talking here about the small refunds that some of us got or not, but I called DCL today to find out if they could tell me which card my refund was issued to (worried it was a gift card) and the CM said the refund was for reduced taxes.

I still don't see a refund anywhere. I'm going to have to call em.

Well, for the Alaskan cruise, my refund was only a little over $11, for the California Coast it was $25+. The amount may have to do with when you booked and what you were charged at the time--just thinking out loud.

He's already asked me for my car when he turns 16. :lmao:

I am proud, but not because of soccer as much because he's not afraid to work his butt off to get there. If he falls short of his goals, it isn't from lack of effort.

I have been using travelex for my travel insurance. Which company do you prefer? So far, I have never needed it, but that just means I'm due to have something go wrong.

What is everyone planning for their "pre trip"? I'm thinking about flying in the day of the cruise. Is everyone staying over night or are some planing on flying in that morning as well?

I booked opening day but then on the 13th (or was it the 14th) got my upgrade. I think you guys were talking about refunds before the day I upgraded so I was thinking that would have already processed before the upgrade but maybe not and it was just absorbed in the change of price?

:drive: oh well, good reason to buy a new one for yourself :lmao:

I believe quite a few are coming in prior to the cruise, I think many (who aren't on the B2B up the coast) are coming the day before. Sounds like many of us are at the Pan Pacific at Canada Place though some may have changed after we heard about Ballantyne.
