May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

The FE Post on page one has been updated. Click here for a shortcut.

I know it's lengthy, but please note the **s. That's where all the new info is as well as answers to the questions that have come up on this thread.

As for the "Tea Party": how I did it last time was scheduled it for right after the group photo. The ladies came to my stateroom and the men (who actually planned their gathering first) went wherever they went. We only spent about an hour in my cabin, but it was great. I think we had 12-15 women out of the many who RSVPd. The stateroom attendants on our deck and Room Service CMs got a kick out of it because on that cruise I only had a standard inside stateroom, but somehow we all fit comfortably. Someone in our DIS group compared it to a Marx Brothers movie. :rotfl:

Welcome back, Moondaughter. It sounds like you have had your hands full lately. I hope it is all behind you and things can get back to normal for you.

Thank you! I am definitely praying for normal.

Welcome back Moondaughter, sorry things have been so rough for your family here recently. Pray everyone stays healthy :goodvibes Kat will find out about part 2 on embarkation day at the pier, whichever one it is;)

What a great surprise that is going to be. Do you plan to have video? I hope you don't have any accidental run ins at the hotel before embarkation day.

So sorry you've had quite a turbulent end and start to the year! I hope things will settle down for you now.

Where was the post about the FE groups? I can't remember exactly what I would have said but I was thinking 20 cabins the other day if that helps.

I'd love a picture! I'm a picture freak :) Tea would be fun too, again all depending on the events of the day. I'm sure my kiddo wouldn't mind having to go to the kids' club (that's is a constant request since he never made it on our 3 nighter!). Not sure I will be able to get both of us up to watch the ship come in, then again who knows as we are on the east coast so we may be up at 3 am Vancouver time :crazy2: The 3 pm one should be fine (anyone know when they usually do the DVC thing?)

I'm so afraid to say things have settled down because every time I try to say that I end up MIA from the boards for a month or 2. :scared:

BTW I used your 20 cabins as an example on the first page. :goodvibes

The DVC reception is usually on the 1st sea day around 8a or 9a. But I've only been on 3 DCL cruises so far so I'm not setting that in stone.

Welcome "Home" Moondaughter!
I am sorry to hear of your losses and know how hard it can be to get back on top of things. I am glad to hear your doing better.
I also cant believe you were able to go through all of those messages. It would make my head spin.
No rush about the FE, just curious for planning.
Sounds like my DD will have people to talk to about Supernatural.
And I LOVE Gold!! Discovered Robert when Once came on and have watched all of Stargate (not into scifi!) and love Hamish McBeth. Want to go to Scotland.
But Vancouver will be just fine!:)

My daughter will talk Supernatural with anyone! But I must warn that she majorly fangirls on Dr Who, Sherlock and Big Bang Theory more than anything else so I hope her intensity doesn't scare your daughter away. I've only seen a few episodes of Supernatural so I'm not fluent, but I do speak the "language" of the other 3 shows plus OUAT an OUATIW.

I still haven't seen Stargate, Hamish Macbeth or the Full Monty but I do like Robert Carlyle. Since Trainspotting

I'm all for a group photo. I would suggest the second sea day before we get to Sitka.

2nd sea day makes sense to me for group photo.

:grouphug: Moondaughter! Sending lots of good wishes that things stabilize.

Got an email from TA today and she also confirmed with DCL that we are sailing out of Canada place. I would imagine with a change of this magnitude DCL would be obligated to contact customers so people are not showing up at the wrong port. So I'm still feeling pretty sure the port website has a clerical error. Of course for those of us at the Pan, when we don't see her sail in, we'll know. :lmao:

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the lots of good wishes. :goodvibes

:rotfl: I'm glad the pier issue has been cleared up. Although I was planning to take a cab to and from the ship so it didn't make a difference to me other than knowing exactly where to check in so we don't miss the ship. But the hypothetical email to ask "Where are you gonna park the ship" gave me a great laugh! :lmao:

Moondaughter, you made Kat's day. She loves Shelock and Dr Who. Watch her get frustrated or out of sorts and she channels a Bristish accent. Another gift from Uncle Sam, Kat is really good at picking up accents:rolleyes:

Video..did not think about that one. Thank you. I will have to do that. As of right now, I know of one group staying/planning on the Pan. Gonna do my best to avoid family till we board. I think most of them are getting there the day before, late at night. Where as we will be a couple of days before that.

Just Paid in Full, so I guess this is really happening and we really get to go, Woohoo :cool1:

Pequele, once all the meet-ups are finalized, can we get them added to the first page--like the group photo and tea and whatever else is decided upon.

:thumbsup2

Yes ma'am! Keep me posted as well just in case I miss a post on it. So far my understanding is meet up pier at about 6am to see the captain park that puppy AT CANADA PLACE! And 3pm on embarkation day...where? Also, 2nd sea day for picture and ladies tea right?

Quick question about check in because I want to be prepared at midnight on my day. I need a cc for the account right? And anything else other than my wishes for excursions and other selections? Do I need our passport numbers? I am waiting for my son's renewal to arrive. I should have it by my check in date of Feb 23 though I think. I just don't want to have to go looking for info at midnight ;) Thanks

Yes, still planning on watching the Wonder come in. Hopefully it doesn't sail past! ;) I think we have agreed on the Promenade Lounge at 3PM for a DIS meet on embarkation day. 2nd day for tea and picture. Hopefully we can do the picture later in the afternoon before dinner. I know some may have brunch on the second sea day.

You do need a CC number at check in, you do not need passport numbers right away. You can add when you get it.

Our group met on the Magic at 3PM embarkation day. It is a good time to meet. If I don't drink tea, can I have an "Adult" beverage at the tea instead?:cool1:

Great, thank you (for all that). I will update the first thread when I get a chance (on the phone now) with the info we have and I can update as we go. I'll list TBA for times and places if we don't have anything decided yet.

Only thing we might consider (not sure as we don't have a schedule) but the 2nd night might be formal night. Personally I'd rather be in casual clothes on that 2nd sea day but I am just throwing that out there if anyone wants to be swayed by lookin' purty :)

I was actually thinking more around 2:00 - 3:00 time frame for a picture. Before we all get gussied up but after brunches are over.

Yay! Another Wholockian! Glad to have made her day. :goodvibes My daughter doesn't pick up accents, but she finds references in everything. I think I'd prefer her adopting an accent.

Gotta commemorate the surprise reactions with video. :happytv: I bet it's going to be an awesome moment.

No actual tea will be served at the "Tea Party". That's why I always put in quotes because I don't want to mislead anyone. I will be serving Mimosas (Orange or Cranberry) in paper cups from the drink station. Nothing fancy. It's all about the girl time. :chat:

And again for the non-drinkers...I don't want to scare anyone away from coming. I can make mimosas without the sparkle if needed.

2:00p sounds good to me for group photo.

Oops. I forgot about brunch. I wasn't planning on trying for one since I'd have to go stag this cruise, but hopefully everyone in this group who wants to make a reservation gets at least one -- especially Silver and non CC members. :goodvibes

To All the Ladies: As for the "Tea Party", it doesn't have to be the tied in with the group photo. It just happened to work out that way previously. I can do either 1st or 2nd sea day but I am planning for 11:30a - 12:30p time frame for the "Tea Party" since (please correct me if I'm wrong) ship activities for Adults are usually light around that time so there's not much to miss or conflict with. Unless you are fortunate enough to have a Palo Brunch at that time. In which case I say Brunch trumps "Tea Party" any day.

Yeah other Sherlock and Dr. Who fans! :yay: and how can you not with Steven Moffat involved in both. ;) BTW - for those that like Robert and Benedict they were in The Last Enemy together.

My two Doctors: ;)

That's AWESOME! Of course I've never met your son, but I am impressed by his impersonations of Capt Jack Sparrow and the 11th Doctor. I will refrain from sharing all of my excitement so I don't get flamed for turning this into a Super Fan thread. We will have lots to converse about on the cruise.

Whoooooo's ready? Just 6 hrs and 10 minutes to go :)

:yay:

So, cause my brain leaks :rolleyes1

Are we saying that we are sailing with Dr Who and Cap Jack????

If that is the case, DH better bring his DD guarding supplies ;) just in case she is tempted to join the Tardis or Black Pearl:rotfl2:

Just silver, so I have another month to wait. But everyone please post how your bookings go!

:lmao: Yep! Oh, and also Pizzaman and Breadstick Boy! http://youtu.be/jyNbXArTXuQ although, they are definitely not bringing the pizza mobile! ;)

I might be misinterpreting it, but looking at the number of stateroom categories left on our cruise it appears our ship is not very full.

That wouldn't be a bad thing.

It's early yet for a lot of schools to be out for summer vacation. Our DD's last day is 3 days before the cruise.

We booked our cruise on the day the dates were released (2/14/13) and out of curiosity the other day I priced it out to see how much it had gone up and it is exactly the same price! That tells me that there isn't a huge demand if the price hasn't risen in the year the dates have been available!

We're all pain in full too. No booking excursions yet since we're silver. 2/23 for us! We did get our Sitka excursion booked the other day though since we're doing that outside of Disney. I've been enjoying emailing with Paul, the owner over the last couple days. Makes it seem so real!

I had been looking at that as well. I was going to look again after today and see if there was even more open (after the PIF date and give them a chance to update the availability). I'd love a verandah room but at the same time I keep saying it doesn't matter because we are never in the room and I can use that money for so much more!

It is true. Here we aren't out until mid June.

I looked at that same thing. Prices. I'm ok with not having a full boat. Sad for Disney that it wouldn't be as popular with the Sitka day. Is hate to see Sitka lose Disney.

So I'm wondering with the mild weather up there, will we have any snow to look at? Will we get to sail right next to the glacier because there is no ice :)
