May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

Hi everyone! Since I'm all paid in full, I think it's time for me to check in here.
Sailing solo on this one, but I know I'll see some familiar faces onboard. :)

I sailed 7 night Alaska at the end of the first season it was offered, but I'm looking forward to the slightly longer cruise and the Sitka stop. Post-cruise I'm planning on taking Amtrak back down to spend a couple of days in Seattle and then Portland afterwards.

I was on the Wonder last week and was told that Jimmy would be our cruise director for this sailing.

Can I ask a favor of a Platinum Cruiser?

I am trying to plan an independant excursion in Skagway to corespond with a Disney excursion in Skagway. Can I get one of you to confrim the time for me of 2 Disney Excursion?

I'm having a problem with the site giving me Internal Server Errors and because of that haven't been able to get into the Port Adventures to book. Yesterday morning, it did let me book Palo Brunch (Tracy Arm day), but I haven't been able to get into the reservation at all this morning to get to the Port Adventures.

Well shoot. That is not what I wanted to hear. Oh well. One way or another we will get to the ship. :( At least their providing transportation. Thanks for clearing this up! :thumbsup2

Yeh boo but at least I see shuttle mentioned. Is this just for people who park though? I wonder what times the shuttles will run?

What have people gotten for PATs who have been able to check in?

Hi! Welcome to this nutty group (hey I'm only repeating what some people's spouses have already confirmed hahaha). Which port adventures are you looking at doing?

 I booked Pan Pacific because I was so excited to be able to just go down the elevator and be at the port.

Hmmm, well looking on the bright side, sounds like I will have to sail out of Vancouver again some time. ;)

I know right? Well, the upshot for me is that when we return, I can take the elevator up to the Pan for our post cruise stay.

Me, too for both before and after! Now I guess we can take the elevator down and catch the shuttle :rotfl2:

Thanks for looking for me. sorry the site is being well a Disney site and giving internal service errors :)

I'm glad the port information is clarified. I'm sorry it is not as convenient as originally hoped. I'm glad I said something when I noticed it now so you at least have time to make plans.

The Liarsville Gold Rush Trail Camp and Salmon Bake is 8:45am

Thanks! I finally got in and booked Ketchikan (Disney Exclusive: Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour and dinner w/the Crew)
and Juneau (Whale Watching, Salmon Bake and Mendenhall Glacier - Adult Only.

I have to go back and look at Sitka and Skagway.

Now whose spouse would say a crazy thing like that ;) :rotfl2:

Oh, yea mine ::yes::

I guess I need to spread the word with my family the dock has changed but there is a shuttle. A saving grace.

DCL can get on the ball and let us know when formal/semi-formal will be. How hard is it to plan that people?? :rolleyes1

:banana::banana::banana:
Half-Full Boat

Oh wait not to excited cause I don't want that to change, I want about quarter of the Boat to know DD at least by sight:laughing:

Can I put a few more smilies in the post????

Can someone (platinum or concierge) please check the times for the Musher's Camp & Sled Dog Experience in Skagway for us? http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/c...-alaska/mushers-camp-and-sled-dog-experience/

We did get our Sitka excursion booked the other day though since we're doing that outside of Disney. I've been enjoying emailing with Paul, the owner over the last couple days. Makes it seem so real!

I need to thank you again for this link! We just booked with Paul and are SO excited. There's 6 of us, so we booked his private charter for his second tour. I'm assuming you guys have his first tour, so warm the boat up for us! :goodvibes

What are people's experiences with Disney excursions ending on time? Like if we wanted to do the Liarsville at 845am (online it says 2.5-3 hrs) and then making it to the 12pm Rail and Trail Camp?

Yep we are scheduled first thing that morning! There are 5 of us and I believe his boat can take 6 so we've pretty much filled it too!

All checked in and excursions booked. We are doing the Glacier helicopter trek in Juneau and we were hoping to do the All Aboard Steam Strain in Skagway, but it's not showing up on the list of excursions (we're going to keep checking back to see if it's still offered).

We booked Palo brunch for 10:00am on the Tracey Arm day!

I'm seeing 7 available time slots right now:
7:45am, 9:15am, 11:15am, 12:15pm, 1:15pm, 3:15pm, 3:45pm

pequele: The DCL website won't let you book excursions that close together. I forgot what the minimum "connection" time is, but I think it was somewhere around 2 hrs in between to book. The White Pass Railway and Trail Camp ends at Liarsville but doesn't seem to include the salmon bake itself. I think Liarsville had their own shuttle buses offering transport back to the ships, so if you take the early White Pass Railway time, you may be able to add on the salmon bake itself when you get to Liarsville.

When booking excursions thru DCL, when do you pay? Am I remembering that they are charged to your on-board account?

Yes, they are charged to your onboard account. I don't remember if they are charged the first day, or each day of your excursions.

Bummer, thanks. I'm not concerned about the salmon bake per se (I like it, kid not so much). I want him to get to pan with gold with Donald but I'd also like to go on one of the trips that cross the border so we can get more stamps in our passports :rotfl2: priorities! I wonder if we can do something on our own that would cross the border? Does anyone know?

I believe it is upto 3 days prior to the cruise you can make reservations and at that point they go on your shipboard account. I don't think you can cancel after that point.

Yeppers--excursions and tips are added to your on-board account. :cool1:

You can prepay tips by calling DCL prior to the cruise though if you don't want them on your account.

Can I ask for some times here too (also posted on FB but no answer yet): :flower3:

All In Skagway 1. Klondike Gold Dredge and White Pass Railway 2. White Pass Railroad & Skagway Street Car City Highlights 3. White Pass Railway and Trail Camp 4.Yukon Suspension Bridge, City and White Pass Railway.

Then in Juneau's 1. Dog Sled Summer Camp 2. Mendenhall Glacier Explorer 3. Sled Dog Discovery and Musher's Camp.

Thanks, I just wish we could see the times even if we can't book yet! Trying to plan if we can do 2 things in a day in some places.

When I got to work this morning I also had a voice mail from the lady that sent me the e-mail regarding the pier information correction last Friday. I am getting ready to go into a meeting and can't call her back right now, but I sure wonder what is up now. Also wondering why she called my office no. and not my cell no. :confused3
