May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

:worship::worship::worship:

Thank you, I just signed up my sis, niece and Mom for the FE group. They, my niece will have a blast.

Does anyone know if we can fly with handwarmers? You know the ones that are a chemical reaction, you break.

That's more than I have, I've read them, but haven't even "hearted" them or started a list yet. We did chat a bit, DD wanted to horse back ride, but DCL's restriction is 12 years old. Rather funny, since she has riding lessons weekly and is much better than I or her older brother. Who by the way after 3 hours at the Drivers License Division - finally has his license. :cool1:

Here's a chuckle for everyone! At least it makes me chuckle! :lmao:

Learning this tool (which is new to me as my old editor is not working) has been a challenge, but I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of some things.
:surfweb:

yeh on having another driver in the house! Ok maybe not haha. I hope they raise the driving age to 45 by the time my son is 16 ahaha.

I LOVE LUMBER JACK!!! Forget all this talk about a magnet, heck I wanna make a life size image for the door! :rotfl2:

I'm definitely making a magnet. But my mom wisely suggested I make a backup in case it gets stolen. Magnet thieves are annoying.

is it wrong to put spikes on the magnets to prevent this :rolleyes1

I've never had any stolen from my door, but 2 that I gave as FE gifts were stolen. Of course I made them again and mailed the replacements once I heard, but I was irritated with the unknown culprit for a few minutes. :sad2: I'll risk losing this one knowing there's a backup at home. But any special/one-of-a-kind magnets I don't want to lose will either go on the inside of my stateroom door or stay at home.

I initially saw the pic from my phone so I thought it was dirt. LOL But now that I see it from my laptop, I can see what your DS is saying. Unless someone makes an 8x10 I think it could pass. :confused3

So glad you did share! Lumber "Jack" is awesome. Puts my thing for lumberjacks and my thing for JD together. :teacher: =

Can't wait to see the 2.0 version.

again 8x10....pshh I want life size! :confused3

Wondering about the handwarmers myself. Is there a new disposable style available now? The ones we used to use when my son was little were the type you had to boil to use again. I wouldn't imagine those would be much use to take on a cruise, so there has to be something new out now for people to want to take them on this trip. Please tell me what is out there now. Thanks.

Oh most definitely. There are little packets (for gloves and socks) that you buy and then activate by snapping. Bout the size of a condiment packet. Which got me to thinking. I often fly with Thermacare heat wraps and have no problem. However I THINK the hand/footwarmers are gel so it may be different. But at least you can wrap yourself in Thermacare patches ahahaha.

Cool and where do you get these, like at a Gander Mountain or REI or Bass ProShop or something similiar? Do they come in a box of x amount or sold individually?

I imagine they would have them but I have seen em in use and also at places like Walmart in the checkout aisle. Remember we would more likely have em anywhere in our stores being from New Hampshire but what sections you would typically find em in, I don't know. I'm on my phone but I can see if I can find some links (of course it is spring now, well sort of so I am not sure the luck I'd have finding anything now).

Ooh yeh google "hand warmers" and I get samples on the right side of my page like I'm talking about. Looks like amazon, staples, sports authority. Lots of places.

Yeah, we really don't have much need for those too much here in the south. I think I still have some of those old, have to boil them types in a drawer somewhere.

I don't know some of my friends down there freeze when it is below 50 :lmao: Looks like best bet will be online then. Like I said when I googled "hand warmers" tons of em for sale came up from all sorts of "reputable" sellers. Not sure if I can post this here or not but for example: http://www.walmart.com/ip/15935572?...1=g&wl2=&wl3=21486607510&wl4=&wl5=pla&veh=sem

and those are the ones that are like Thermacare patches so I imagine you wouldn't have an issue flying with them!:cold: You may even be able to carry em on with your knives :joker:

Geez, I leave for a few days and 2 more pages get added to the thread. You guys are making me look bad with your spreadsheets and 9 pages of notes! ;)

Okay, back from 2 1/2 wonderful days in Disneyland! Now, after I get through our guests and the wedding I can start focusing on Alaska!

Ellen, love the Lumber "Jack". I definitely want to borrow that image for a magnet. Great job! :thumbsup2

Not sure where y'all would get them but.....I would stop by Uncle Sam's supply store and buy some :upsidedow DH has used them when he has done training during the winter in VA. We will be getting some other winter supplies from there. Maybe binos also.

I freeze at 70 :lmao: Gonna need lots of hand wamers and I was planning on packing them into checked luggaged. Not carrying them with my knife :sad2:, whoever decided on that change was :scared: Did not think about shipping it to the ship. How soon could we mail something to the ship? How soon before we sail does the ship get there?

The current itinerary shows the Wonder arriving in Vancouver at 8:00 a.m. and leaving Vancouver at 4:00 that afternoon.

And if I mail a box, will they hold it there? How would that work? Kinda understand how it would work to PC but I thought the address for the ships route through Orlando/PC. Am I wrong about that? I have to mail it really early from here to get there because it is on a space available basis. Mail here can take from 2-12 weeks depending on the seasson:crazy2:

Just started my spreadsheet, got one for packing. My first ever :scared: One started for excursions. DH is going to think I have totally lost it. Not that I really had :rotfl:

Whoo, I missed a lot!

I thought about that. But I'll really have to hunt someone down if they messed with it.

I don't think it's wrong. As long as there is only a magnet to hold it to the door I don't think DCL would have a problem. :rotfl2:

I was thinking of writing a nasty message in silver sharpie on the back of the to any would be thieves. Maybe it would get returned before they got five feet away from my door. :confused3

Not too sure about hand warmers being allowed, but I have used Grabber in the past at work and they're non-toxic. Never looked at the actual ingredients though to see what they're actually made of.

Chrissy, I am boarding in San Diego and doing the California Coast cruise and then staying on for Alaska. I was thinking about shipping my box of stuff (FE, maybe some wine, etc.) to the hotel where we are staying prior to boarding in California. Not sure just where we will be staying, but I will call them first to make sure it is ok to ship to the hotel. We often ship to our hotel at WDW, but then, that is Disney, so I am not sure how a non-Disney hotel would respond. I then plan take a collapsible duffel in my luggage to use to take the stuff on board. It will be easier to transport than a box.

When I have done magnets in the past, I have always put my cabin no. somewhere on the magnet that it would not be easy to cut out, like in the middle, doesn't usually mess with the design too much, but keeps anyone from wanting it for their own.

That's a whole lot nicer then pequele's spikes or my nasty messages. Great idea! Thank you! Maybe a life size poster is possible after all. LOL

My daughter is a Forester and I get her them for her christmas stocking. I buy them at Wal Mart. You can look for them in the hunting and camping section. Sometimes they have them at the check out registers.

Thanks for the idea. I will have to look into that. That might be my best option and adding the FE gifts just makes it even more worth it:thumbsup2

Spikes, nasty message and cabin number........:thumbsup2 All that helps to prevent losing the maganets.

Lightning strike: Christmas gift to the kids:upsidedow
