May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

Thank you for the welcome! Would it be insane to quit my job:teacher: so that I am available to cruise?:rotfl2:

I'm playing with some more images, these aren't done by any means, but I'd appreciate some opinions! Thanks!

Love em all. Of course the fate of pirate night being in the air :( Far more creative than I could be. I will try once we get back from our May trip probably but for now I need to get that stuff together so I can print it off and be ready to go! 2 months from today!!! I best start packing.

Ellen inspired me to do a couple more designs today.

I love Shivering me timbers, but the pirate theme just doesn't fly in Alaska, does it?

Who knows if it will even exist?

Bass line yeeesss!!! And also missing the "Too Coooold!" :rotfl2:
I hated that song when I was younger (much prefer the original "Under Pressure"), but this is too funny. Thanks ppartekim! :goodvibes Now whenever I hear it, I have new words to substitute. :cool1: And I can substitute Alaska for Vanilla.

I found it when I was looking at Grouse Mountain activities. http://www.grousemountain.com/lumberjack-show

But I think I may be mistaken on the dates. When I first looked at it I saw May - October but now I see it says "May long weekend-October long weekend". I have no idea how I missed the words long weekend, but to me that sounds like Memorial Weekend to Columbus Weekend. Which means I wouldn't be able to go in Vancouver anyway because our sail date would be too early.

Thanks. We'll see what happens.

A Lumber "Jack" would be awesome. Maybe you could substitute axes for the swords? :confused3

Even if they cancel the activities I would still want a Pirate night to dress up. But that's just me. I don't mind "Shiverin' Me Timbers" for it. :rotfl:

Now remember you are talking about Canada so it isn't Columbus weekend, it would be their Thanksgiving weekend (whenever that is) and probably Victoria day in may which this year is the week before our memorial day (don't have a clue if that moves around or not. So don't lose hope, you just need to find out what their long weekends are!!

Ok people I hate working. I can't keep up with you guys!!! I asked on our current cruise's thread which is slower than this so I will ask here too. Does anyone know what time the transport will pick us up from the resort to get to the pier (PC)? I have either the 11 or 11:30 PAT I forget but we also have a breaky ADR that we could cancel and make one in our resort to make it easier if need be. When do they tell you about transport times?

I was going to respond that we have always rented a car because the DCL transports seem to come so late, but then I remembered you will have a young one with you and the DCL may be the easiest thing for you to do. Sorry I am not much help there.

We also saw the show in Ketchikan. It was fun and we did the Disney edition which basically meant they called up a couple of kids to help. We had a riot as they split the audience into to camps and you had to cheer yours on making it interactive. Are camp really took that to heart, we LOUDLY cheered ours on and BOO'd the other camp all in good fun. Our side won (mainly I think the Lumberjack/Actors pick which camp will win and well, we just played the cheer game really well).

Would we do it again... not really sure.. but probably go with "seen it, done it".. but definitely a see it once show just remember to join in the cheering fun as it adds to it.

Of Course, now all this talk of Lumberjacks is making "I'm a Lumberjack" song from Monty Python keeping popping back in my head. :rolleyes1

Liarsville is Skagway was fun.. But I figured out, I do not have the patience for panning... Claim jumping would be the life for me... :thumbsup2 The salmon roast was fabulous and the story was ok... The best part is that we booked the Disney version so we got to pan with Chip & Dale which was the highlight.

What was really interesting was that Skagway literally opened for the season the day we got there and when we boarded the ship at All-Aboard time, if you looked back a downtown it was as if they had rolled up the sidewalks and gone home it was that deserted.

In Juneau, we did the Salmon Hatchery and the Glacier tour. The Hatchery was really interesting and the Glacier was nice but cold. Downtown Juneau reminds me of a really little SF.

Ketchikan has a much bigger downtown that would be nice to have more time to stroll thru..

Cool! Thanks for the info. :goodvibes

And I have a word document that already has 9 pages of notes...:rotfl:

Wouldn't be insane. I have that same wish, but you know that silly old Reality ruins things every time. :sad2:

Oops, I didn't think about that at all. Thanks for the correction. Sorry to all the Canadians. :goodvibes

However, now the DCL one sounds more fun so hopefully it's not sold out when it's time for Silver to book PAs.

Don't get me wrong, cost is a factor, but I am going to do my best to not think about it and not let it be a deciding factor.

oh man I feel really behind! I have ZERO notes! I have only "hearted" the excursions on the webpage that I think we will explore as time gets closer. I do have some requests from a current 4 yo, but who knows how things will change as we get closer. After our trip in May on Mickey's boat, I'm betting he will ask to go to the beach...um no :beach:

I have always tried to figure this out! Either that or what kind of job do people have that they can up and move to some other country on the show House Hunters International, really, you work from home? Doing what? The police typically frown on people who do my job from home, just saying :rotfl2::eek:

no worries. I know it would certainly be cheaper!

It didn't dawn on me right away because I was thinking Seattle, don't know why. I live pretty close to the border and have a fair amount of Canadian friends which is what made me think "oh yeh!" then I checked on my calendar at work that has so many holidays from so many countries that I have no room to write anything on it some days! :rolleyes1

Ok guys, I don't work this weekend so maybe I can stay up to speed for a few days :rolleyes1

That's more than I have, I've read them, but haven't even "hearted" them or started a list yet. We did chat a bit, DD wanted to horse back ride, but DCL's restriction is 12 years old. Rather funny, since she has riding lessons weekly and is much better than I or her older brother. Who by the way after 3 hours at the Drivers License Division - finally has his license. :cool1:

Here's a chuckle for everyone! At least it makes me chuckle! :lmao:

Learning this tool (which is new to me as my old editor is not working) has been a challenge, but I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of some things.

A new license, how exciting for him and how scarey for you. I remember those days well. Our son got his license in October, car in November, wrecked it in December. Spent the next many months paying for parts and rebuilding it.

:scared1: - oh I hope he doesn't do that!

Sheesh, I can't believe I didn't take the perfect opportunity to use this little emoticon. :drive:

So cool! I love it! Definitely gave me a laugh.

I love the "lumber jack"! I would love to have this as a magnet on my door.
My son still doesn't have his license due to having a petrified mama. Sadly, his permit expires (for the third time), next month. I think I need to get over my fear and take him out driving.

I totally understand! You probably should also check that his written test results are still good. After waiting at the DLD for 2 hours to give them his road test results, and thinking we were finally done, they told us that despite the fact that is permit was still good, his written test was expired and he needed to take the written test again! That's why we were there for almost 3 hours. :sad2:

Feel free to do anything you like with the image. I probably should add some cruise specific (other than the ports) to it. I'll re-post it if I add to it.

Look at y'all, gotta get another cup of joe and :coffee:

Ice, Ice Mickey :rotfl:

9 pages of notes, :faint:

I need to get on the ball. We have talked about it and decided that we do want to pan for gold and "pay" for our trip. But we want to do the one with Characters, got see all the characters we can. We are just not sure outside of that. Cost and age is a factor. We shall see.

I do have a question, before I did a :scared: I wanted to check with y'all.

My sis and mom are booked, Can I invited them to do the FE with us without them being on here or do they need to be on here? I can enter the info for them. I need to sign up for it, DH was :confused3

I am sharing your wonderful and wise information with them.

I can't think of a good reason why your Mom and Sis shouldn't be able to participate in the FE. I'm glad they want to have some fun with us.

I say absolutely, the more the merrier!!:dance3: When I cruise with my sister, she always participates in FE's but she's not on the DIS or FB or anything. She just has me keep her up to date on things, and sign her up - but she loves participating, she just doesn't do "online" much! :goodvibes

I'm definitely making a magnet. But my mom wisely suggested I make a backup in case it gets stolen. Magnet thieves are annoying.

That's a good idea. We've only had one stolen, and unfortunately it wasn't one I could replace. We bought these adorable light up smiley magnets that I gave as FE gifts, but the place I bought them from only had the exact amount and I couldn't get more. :(

DS has pointed out that I need to clean up that Lumber Jack image a bit, especially around the dreadlocks. He's right, I was just so glad to have gotten that far, that I wanted to post it and share. Anyway, I'll re-post it once I improve it a bit for anyone that may want it.

Love the Lumber Jack. Will definitely be making a magnet out of him. I have zero pages of notes for cruises in 2014. Need to get past July 13 first and then full steam ahead!:thumbsup2.

I've never had any stolen from my door, but 2 that I gave as FE gifts were stolen. Of course I made them again and mailed the replacements once I heard, but I was irritated with the unknown culprit for a few minutes. :sad2: I'll risk losing this one knowing there's a backup at home. But any special/one-of-a-kind magnets I don't want to lose will either go on the inside of my stateroom door or stay at home.

I initially saw the pic from my phone so I thought it was dirt. LOL But now that I see it from my laptop, I can see what your DS is saying. Unless someone makes an 8x10 I think it could pass. :confused3

So glad you did share! Lumber "Jack" is awesome. Puts my thing for lumberjacks and my thing for JD together. :teacher: =

Can't wait to see the 2.0 version.

Yep, live and learn. It was my first cruise and I didn't even think about people stealing them.
