May 23, 2015 Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Cruise!

Hi Everyone ~ We will also be cruising on May 23. This is our first Disney Cruise and our kids first cruise ever. Our group will be myself (40), my husband (39), my mother, and my 3 sons (ages 9, 6, and 2.5). We are very excited, but I have tons of questions as it gets closer so I am just starting to use these forums to ask.
Regarding the FE - this is the first I have heard of this practice. It sounds fun, but how many people typically participate? I am concerned I will have enough to do to pack and plan for our family. But, I KNOW my boys would be into this! Does anyone have a running tally yet? Thanks!

We just booked this cruise March 31st as we were onboard the Disney Magic.

It will be me, DH, DD (21) and DS (19). We will be sailing to celebrate my daughter's college graduation. It will be the 8th Disney cruise for my husband and I, and the 6th for our kids.

Whoever would like to participate in the FE, and hasn't given your information yet, go ahead and reply with your info and I will collect it all and try to make one neat list which I will then post in this thread. Please put your stateroom number, all participants with child age, and any other notes you'd like to add (favorite characters, allergies, etc.). Thanks!

Hi everyone!! This is our first Disney cruise. We are interested in participating with the FE. I am newbie to this board, actually joined today. There are three of us sailing away with Mickey on May 23rd. This was a Christmas gift for my DD(12) GD (9) and myself. We are counting down the days!! Hope it's not to late to join in the fun!!

My husband and I are cruising with our young adult kids. We have DD(28), DS(24) and DD(18). This will be the 7th cruise for Scott and me, with the kids at 4 or 5. It is harder for young adults to meet others unless they like to party. My kids are pretty calm. I did mention your post to DD(18) and she said "don't dare set me up on a play date, that would be so awkward." Maybe we can get to know each other and arrange a way that we could just happen to meet and introduce them if they haven't already found someone to hang out with a day or so in. DD(18) is my most outgoing and sees the rest of us as socially awkward. And I can't say she is wrong, especially me and the 28 yo.

Thanks for the reply. On our last cruise our DD was 20. There was a group for 18-20 year olds, so I'm sure your 18 year old will have a lot of fun if she looks up that group. Our DD spent every evening after dinner with them and during the day while at sea. She still maintains some limited contact (facebook) with one or two of the people she met. From my best recollection, 21 year olds and above is where the organized effort to connect people of similar ages ends. Having said that, our DD is not a "drinker" but I know she'll be looking forward to dancing and other activities in the lounges and clubs after the late dinner. I'm sure our DD would like to meet all of your "kids" and they can take it from there.

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin. Other information you would like to share such as first names, ages of child participants, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM.

For those posting in this Cruise Meet thread to join a FE, since no one has posted recently about a FE for this cruise here on the DIS, please feel free to start the FE right in this thread.

There is certainly enoughf time to plan a FE for this cruise. All it takes is for someone to maintain a list of/for those participating which can easily be done in this thread. Cruise Meet threads have been doing it this way for years now here on the DIS. If anyone is interested in doing this, feel free to contact me for some suggestions.

This is meant to be a fun exchange and getting to know each other. Please do not feel as though you have to do something expensive or extravagant. Just have fun!

If you want to be added to the cruise list, please PM me with your user name, and any info you want posted on the roster. The deadline to sign up will be April 23rd, 2015. After this date I will share the completed list with everyone.

For those who are new with only a few posts, you will not be able to use the PM system until you reach 10 posts. You may go to the DIS Technical Support/Test board where you can quickly and easily post some one word (or one letter) posts to get your count up to 10.

Once you have 10 posts, you will be able to send a PM (now called "Conversation"). There will be a link at the upper right on every page to your "Inbox" and you can click on any username and a link to "Start a conversation" will be available. In addition, you will then be able to upload images and have links in your signature.

Please provide the following information, and I will keep it updated.

1- Names of each participants (ages for those under 18) (DH=Dear Husband, DW=Dear Wife, DS=Dear Son, DD=Dear Daughter)

2- Cabin # - it will have to be posted to exchange gifts.

There are no real rules for the FE except that cabins participating need to plan to give at least one gift per cabin to other participants. You can opt to distribute a gift to each participant in each cabin, some of you may offer multiple distributions but this is a personal decision.You must give a gift to each cabin on you FE list, either as a Cabin Gift or to individuals in each cabin.

Make this "Fantasy" a memory to last forever.

No, I'm sorry no else has signed up yet. I'm getting a little worried. I'm going to have a little faith that maybe the closer to cruise date more people will sign up. I am being hopeful. Will let you know what happens.
