May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

So for the FE we need to bring something for everyone participating (according to our limits) and either deliver a gift every night, or make little gift bags with a few gifts and deliver once.? And do something separate for the kids/ teens??
Sorry for all the questions, I"m new to this.

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but you do not need to feel like you need to get a gift for every person, and certainly not every day.

One gift per stateroom, once per cruise is perfectly acceptable! It's supposed to be fun!! It's not supposed to cost you a fortune or take up too much time. You want to be enjoying your cruise, not delivering goodies every single day.:)

I totally agree:thumbsup2

Ok so goofy question, but has anyone ever booked a disney cruise through Orbitz? We've always used a travel agent but were considering trying ourselves this time? We appreciate any thoughts.

I've never tried it, but if you can get a price without being instantly "locked in"....so that you could check it against DCL's price....and if the room is guaranteed, then I guess it would work okay.

I have to find something that is eas to get my mother to do, she is not wheel chair bound, but walking is not as easy as it used to be!!

The tour to St John is doable for someone with limited mobility.
Also a taxi tour of St Thomas or Tortola. The taxi drivers love to showcase their islands and are safe.
Or you could still taxi to Coral World...both my parents have trouble walking and we still thought it was a good place to take them.

The reason I say taxi is so that you wouldn't have to wait for an excursion bus, or walk a long way to get to the excursion busses.

Are most easy to spot? We found a great one in Grand cayman one time. What is the normal charge?

There should be quite a line of them as you exit the port terminal. Most of the time you can get a great tour of the island for about $20-25. Sometimes as much as $50, if there's a lot to see and stops to make. If you taxi to Coral World, it shouldn't be more than $15.

I'd read this thread before booking and wondered if this was your alter-ego (with the DU link in your sig etc) but wimped out of asking in case i was making a massive assumption.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

pirate: Anyone looked into excursions/activities (involving sand and water!!) not sanctioned by the ship? Never been to these islands and wondering if there are things to do on your own.

Here's a link to St Thomas beaches. Magen's Bay is popular, and there's Coki and Sapphire, plus a lot of others. You can taxi to these and arrange for the driver to come back for you, but there are also always taxi's waiting at these beaches when ships are in port.

In Tortola, we're taking a taxi to Brewer's Bay.

Hey - Joanne - I think you're the same Joanne from the DVC member cruise - Tom & Ellen, here!! We booked this cruise while on the member cruise last Sept (also going on NEXT member cruise, Sept 2009) - only for this cruise (May 23-20) we are bringing our two boys. I noticed a lot of recent cruisers for this cruise coming from FL - I presume y'all are taking advantage of favorable FL Residents' rates?
