May 21, 2012 - Mickey's Mooseketeers Take Alaska 2012!

Wow 3 people celebrating 40th birthday! When is the actual birthday? Steve's is May 16th.

More than you ever wanted to know..... My 40th birthday present from SkierRob was a trip on the Coast Starlight to Seattle. However, we pushed the date of the trip till May so we would have longer daylight.

We had originally booked the Mexican Riviera as Port of LA is about 15 minutes from Long Beach, but as Mexico went south, we decided to switch to Alaska. Since the train was going to Seattle, combining the two into a two part Rail and Cruise Adventure seemed like a no-brainer.

So, while I'll be happy to toast a drink with Steve as a fellow 40 year old, I'm more cashing in my 40th birthday present than celebrating my 40th on the ship.

I'm also 99% sure that we will be the only two people arriving on the ship from Long Beach, CA via train.
Blue Line - Long Beach to Downtown LA
Red Line - Downtown LA to LA Union Station
Coast Starlight - LA to Seattle
Cascades - Seattle to Vancouver
Skytrain: Train station to Disney Wonder

Sounds like fun! I didn't realize we lived so close together.

For those staying at the Blue Horizon there is a free shuttle from the hotel to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain.

That's where we are staying!! We'll be sure to check on this. It is one of the things on our "To Do" list!!

Works for me! It's a great way to celebrate :)

Mine's the 13th!

Cool!

Steve decided years ago, probably right after our '08 Panama Canal Repo (the only cruise we've ever done till now) that he had to be ON a ship somewhere ON his birthday. Well it didn't totally work out that way since we'll be in San Fran, but close enough :) Then since the '08 was 15 nights we decided that 1 week wasn't enough so that's how we ended up doing B2B :)

Is there a FE list somewhere or just on the first page of the group? I have seen people make maps and mark where everyone is staying. Do you think it's worth doing that for this cruise?

I think the list will just have the deck and basic direction (mid, aft, fwd). I know we had a map in '08 but that was over 100 cabins! :rotfl2:

Can we add a room to the FE? I failed to really mention it to MIL and she seems interested :)

Sure...why not.... those that can will add her and if they can't - I am sure everyone understands. It's a cruise! :)

We're good with adding the extra cabin. We're just getting started with the cabin gifts, so now is still a good time to add another :-) We are pretty much finished with the gifts for the kiddos though, all except for the ones for whom we don't know a gender yet.

We booked late, only about 5 or 6 weeks out, for our last cruise and then we found out about the FE activity and were lucky that they let us participate. At that point, we had only a short time to put it all together, so this one seems like a leisurely stroll :-)

Sounds good to me! I mentioned it waaaay back when we booked the cruise and then I didn't again till yesterday. I think Judy was getting excited about doing it though and was looking at what to get :)

If you'll PM me your e-mail address, I'll send you the spreadsheet - and once we get closer and get all the staterooms finalized, I had planned on making a map that had the rooms marked. I know there's not many of us - but to me it sure makes it easier to deliver!

I agree with A Litl Pixie Dust - I know we have plenty of supplies to add another room (or three) with our gifts.

For those of us with children the cabin map will add an extra sense of adventure!
