May 21, 2012 - Mickey's Mooseketeers Take Alaska 2012!

LOL we weren't so much part of the group having only joined in May, barely 3mo before the cruise! We did a couple of group things, but mostly did our own thing.

Has anyone started planning their excursions yet? I just picked up a couple guidebooks to help with my research.

The only MUST do for us is the train. Will probably wait to see what Disney wants for it vs booking direct.

We booked this cruise, too. We are really excited about seeing Alaska. We are thinking of flying into and out of Seattle and taking the train to Vancover. We have just started looking into our options. I will have to read this whole thread to see what others are doing/suggesting!!
I look forward to meeting everyone!!

Welcome to all who are joining us!

Send me your info in a PM and I will add you to page 1.

Hi Barbara-

I think we've cruised with you before. Didn't you Double Dip on the Magic in 2009?

Michelle

How exciting!! We had our whole family with us then. This time, it is just my DH, me, and our two friends that cruise with us. We are on deck 2 again, too! We will be looking forward to seeing you.

Hi, there. I'm from Massillon!! Have you decided what you're going to do about transportation? We'll probably fly into SEA the day before and then take the train to Vancouver in the morning, but I'm not sure about where we'll stay in SEA. I don't know if it would be best to stay at a hotel near the Amtrak station or stay near the airport. Not sure about shuttles, taxis, etc.

This is all very new to us and I'm pretty sure that it will be a one time thing. We would like to really try to fit in a lot of stuff to see before and after the cruise. My husband is looking at attractions and schedules for us. There is so much to choose from!!

Hi Leslie. While I'm sure airport hotel is cheapest option, Seattle has fantastic public transit from the airport to downtown. The light rail runs every few minutes direct from airport. Unless you're getting in late, I'd suggest stay downtown. Once you're downtown, it's all very walkable or even ride an authentic Alwig monorail from downtown to Seattle Center. (What Disney fan doesn't love monorails.)

Has anyone looked into/have suggestions for hotels in Vancouver or Seattle for pre/post stays? We'll be in Vancouver for 2 nights before the cruise and Seattle for 1 or 2 nights after (we haven't booked our flights home yet).

And if I can piggy-back a request for a pre-cruise Seattle hotel that's close to the Amtrac station, I would be oh-so-grateful!!

Hello everyone!!

DH and I will be joining you as we take on Alaska! Thank you to A Little Pixie Dust for all her help.

We might have seen some of you before if you were on Panama Canal in January.

We've both done Alaska before - but it was on two different cruise lines years ago with our respective families.

Words cannot express how excited we are and we look forward to geting to know everyone over the next few months!

Hi Shoshie! Welcome to our cruise!!

And - just a moment of bragging if I may, but exactly 5 months from now our flight should be on final descent into Seattle!!! :dance3::yay:

Since Disney has announced cancellation of MR cruises Dec 2012, it may be that 2012 will be the last Disney cruises to Alaska too. So glad we are booked now for these cruises.

I was wondering if that meant they were going to move to Hawaii during the winter. It'll be interesting to see what they announce when they finally get around to announcing 2013!

According to the port calendar, the Wonder is scheduled for Grand Caymen during the winter months. Glad we booked this for 2012. Disappointed that they are already taking the ship from the West Coast. :(
