May 2011 Yo Ho Ho! Let Down Your Hair! (New 10/9 Lessons Learned #550)

Then our 2nd Disney day/dinner will be Jake & the Neverland Pirates theme.

Appetizer: Skully's Flying Fruit Salad

Entree: Captain Hook's Fresh-Hooked Fish

Sides: Izzy's Pixie Dusted (Parm cheese) mashed potatoes

Cubby's Flatbread Treasure Maps (flatbread with a black food dye "x" in the middle ...then we'll fold them up like a scroll)

Mr. Smee's seaweed (cooked greens)

Dessert: Decorate your own Gold Doubloons (sugar cookies w/icing)

Drink: Jake's Neverjuice Smoothies

Then we'll watch some J&NP shows.

Thanks! Rachel and I had a great time coming up with the menu!

Oh I can bet. Have you ever thought about doing a trip planning book with ideas of how to plan a trip involving your kids? I think it would be great.

Signing up!
As an over planner I can totally relate to you. Never tried to match outfits but that might be about to change. ;)
I love your plans so far and we might just cross each other on the Saturday at Epcot.

Travelling with the train seems like such a great idea!! It certainly adds to the fun of the trip.

Cannot wait to read more.

My good dis-friend mousescrapper has totally inspired me to do a few Disney days prior to our trip. We did this for our November 2010 trip and had:

- Splash Mountain Day
- parade and Fireworks
- MNSSHP

They were a LOT of fun (see Nov TR link below if you want to see).

So, we are going to do two more dinner/disney days in prep for this May trip.

Rachel and I planned these out this morning and I can't wait to see how they turn out.

Just read your menus and ideas

Looks like they will be blast

:goodvibes

Oh, wouldn't that be soooo cool and so much fun!?! Actually, compared to some Dissers I'm a newbie at all of this and still have much to learn from them.

But you are the 2nd person to tell me this today. We were at the park with my friend whose going with us in January and she told me I should write everything down and work on publishing a book, too.

If I was ever to get serious about the 'Disney craftiness' I'd have to learn a whole lot more and then maybe when Elizabeth enters 1st grade and I have all day to work on it, I could....

Hmmm, something to think about.

Welcome aboard! I hope to see you in Epcot. Are you going to the 3pm Dismeet at American pavilion fountains? I really hope we get in on time so I can.

I tell you, once you start coordinating or matching your outfits, it gets a bit addictive!:thumbsup2 I have fun finding outfits for all of us that will work. And if you crop or do photo albums at all, it will totally enhance your photos.

Thanks! can't wait to show you all the pics!

Well, I think that you work the trip planning into part planning. I know when the kids were little I would have loved books on that sort of thing.

Rachel will be so excited to see what Rachel sent!

going out today :goodvibes

Ok, here's the bad news...we are not going over MLK for 2 reasons.

:sad1: bummer...but hey I so get it...the dates you are going were closer to my orginal want...but we opted to go w/ the slightly busier week so we are only pulling the kids from school 2 days vs 4 days...which is tough as the kids keep getting older.

I'll get them ready for you and hopefully DC will all work out and we can visit next summer...oh that seems forever away ;)

So the 3 main attractions that are on our list for Disney are: Rapunzel, Jake & the Neverland Pirates and Magician Mickey.

Our first Disney day dinner will be at the Snuggly Duckling Restaurant and Bar. Here is the menu:

Appetizer: Flynn Rider's Cantaloupe Boats with Banana and Pineapple Lanterns

Entree (mixed in a frying pan, of course!):
Rapunel Angel Hair Pasta with Mother Gothel Beauty Sauce (alfredo sauce with some black food dye)

Stabbington Brothers Stabbing Meaty Muscle Balls

Veggies: Pascal's Camoflauge Veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots)

Rapunzel's Tower of Garlic bread

Dessert: Maximus' Apple Crumb Pie

Drink: I have a dream Punch

Then we'll have bar snacks (pop corn mixed with candy) while watching the movie.

Entree: Captain Hook's Fresh-Hooked Fish

thanks for the shout-out! loving these themed nights...so fun! We just bought Tangled on DVD and watched it over the weekend, it is very fun!

I'm here and caught up! Your trip sounds awesome and the train really intrigues me. If we had a train like that that made a stop here in GA I'd totally look into doing that but alas, we will have to stick with driving ourselves down :(

I think that's awesome that Rachel already made her autograph book. I remember the others that you have made in the past and they always look amazing. I may have to steal this idea to make Alex an autograph book for our trip in December. I wonder if he will be afraid of the characters.

And the color coordinating for each day is such a great idea! I'm starting to get to the point where I want to do something like that too now that we are a family and not just the two of us :) I think Chris might freak though LOL

yeah, I figure while we can easily pull Rachel from school for 5-6 days we will. We get 10 days in our school district, but you get a "notice" from the Child Welfare office when you go over 5 days warning you.

Yes -- you definitely tell me your DC dates and we will come and meet up with you!!

I got Tangled for Rachel but the Easter Bunny is giving that, along with the Rapunzel doll.

Yep, you see how you can totally approach a Disney trip soooo differently now that you have a child!

If Alex cries while meeting the characters, just SNAP away pictures!!

Remember this one?!

And this -- she isn't too happy to meet her. Elie is trying to pull away.

And having my own "sleeping beauty" meet the real Sleeping Beauty was adorable! She even put a big red lip-stick kiss on Elizabeth's forehead.

However, I can't make my ressies until June so we don't have our exact dates yet. But we are looking at Jan 19 - 29 (arrive in WDW on Jan 20)...so we will miss you by {sadly} one day. I just don't have enough points to add another day and don't want to take another school day (already taking 5-6 depending if the proposed moveable no-school day happens or not).

Signing on board, we'll be at the World for both of your trips - what are the odds. Will be funnier if our paths actually cross. Can't wait to read more about your trips.

Oh very cool!!!

I'm going to check out your PTR!!

Thursday, May 19th

Hoping to make RD and go to DHS to ride TSM and Star Tours if we didn't get on it earlier. Then we'll meet some characters and take the drawing class in the Animation Building.

Hoping again to be done by shortly after noon b/c Rachel and I have a belated Mother's Day surprise for Nana. I am taking her to the Grand Floridian for Garden View Tea (new). This is new for all of us but I heard some really good things about it.

DH, Elie and Papa are on their own!

Then we'll either go into MK for the parade/fireworks or head back to the room to swim/pack or shop at DTD.

Friday, May 20th
We'll go to MK. I have a surprise for Rachel and Elie -- lunch reservations at Cinderella's Royal Table!! Gosh, this is sure expensive! Thankfully, I can save 20% through my TIW card but $40+ for lunch is a lot. However, Elie is free since she is only 2 and I wanted to go before Rachel gets too old. We'll definitely dress up as princesses this day!

We have 3 things we really want to do: Meet Rapunzel (hence the title) and also the new possibly "interactive" Magician Mickey on Main Street. If the lines for Rapunzel are just way too long (most people seem to be waiting 1 hr 15 minutes), then we may try to go straight to Tom Sawyer Island to hunt for paint brushes.

Ideally, we get the first Tangled meet and greet and then go straight to TSI...but not sure if that'll happen.

rgl112016SMALL.jpg

Hoping to go back to AKV after lunch so then we can rest and finish packing. Then back to MK for one last night and the Magic, Memories & You castle show.

Ooh, I can't wait to see him. I haven't even seen any pics of him yet.

Welcome! Yeah! Maybe we'll see each other in the parks!

My DH and I did do a non-park Disney trip when we stayed at AKL. It was a fun trip and I was surprised by how much there was to do outside the parks.

Oooh, I can't wait for CRT (except that it's our last day of course). RAchel will be in Cinderella costume and Elizabeth will be in Rapunzel.:cloud9:

What is the new Garden View Tea?

And what costume is Elizabeth wearing for Rapunzel? i've had the hardest time finding something i like for rapunzel.

love your meals! that is one bad thing about not telling the kids- they can't help with the planning.

oh yeah- i just peeked through your autograph book! great job! i wish i wasn't so far behind on scrapbooking so i could justify that one. poor james is going to think i dont love him im so far back on his.

The Grand Floridian has an afternoon tea everyday in their Garden View Room. You can choose from a variety of teas, with or without food, etc. Just think girlie girl tea party! I've never done this before but have only heard good things about it. And since Mother's Day will have been the week before, I thought it would be neat to try. The most expensive option is $25 so it's rather inexpensive (for Disney)... however, I've been told that you don't get a lot of food.

We are going for the experience.

Thanks for the compliments on my autograph book! I have to work on getting some more pages but don't think that'll happen this time. Besides it's really getting VERY heavy and it's now nearly 12" tall. I think we will do it for one, maybe 2 more trips and then I'm going to have to start taking out pages for the parks. There's just too many characters!

Last year I saw on DIS that JCP had Rapunzel costumes shipped to the store for free for only $8!!!!:cool1: Can you believe it? It was too good to be true but it was. However, everyone said that the costume ran small so I only got one for Elie. They ran out of dresses within hours.

Looks like the dress in this pic

Signing on to follow along with your trip planning.

We will be at Epcot the same days as you. Maybe we will run into each other. :thumbsup2

That tea sounds fun! I'll have to put that in my "next trip" notes. I had heard of the doll tea, and the Alice tea, but not that one. Sounds like the perfect thing for a girl once she is starting to outgrow the princesses.

Would it work to only take the small part of the paper that the characters will sign, rather than the whole book. Maybe just in a small clipboard or something? I know it would be more difficult to color coordinate that part of the page but it may be easier to carry?

I actually ordered that dress! If I remember correctly there was a good coupon out then too. I knee it was running small but I had to try anyway for that price. I didn't even try it on Maya. It just looked so small. I gave it as a Christmas gift instead. she also picked out a Disney store dress from her grandma for Christmas. She picked Tiana and has been wishing she picked rapunzel ever since. So I'm just keeping my eye out.

Yep, this is specifically the Tea w/o characters or dolls (so it's cheaper :thumbsup2)

Re: autograph book, yes, that is what I do -- just take the "signing card" for characters that I haven't done yet. But we get such incredible reactions from the characters when they can see their own page ... and look through the book to see their "friends".

Here is Ariel -- she spent literally no less than 10 minutes on us looking through Rachel's "Disney ABC Book" (the book I made prior to her Autograph book). Minnie also loved it but since she is a fur character, you can't see her expression like Ariel.

And just because ... here are some of the pages from that Disney ABC book I made.

Elizabeth will get it for this year's trip. So we'll try to get more characters to sign it and Disney CM for rides that we missed when Rachel had the book.
