May 2011: The kids are getting 3rd visit surprise! Now w/pics!

So we were in the car and I brought up our trip. (We talk in code when the kiddos are around.)

I asked him what kind of car he wanted me to reserve and he didn't care. (Does anyone have experience with renting a car that they can share? We're looking to rent a car to drive down and back with, but we've never rented one before.)

Anyway, he was all :confused3 about the car and I asked if he was still wanting to drive back on Friday - and if so, if he's done the math to make sure he wouldn't hit rush hour traffic anywhere since it would be a Friday. He said, "You know, maybe we should just leave out Saturday morning.":banana::banana:

So ... we'll take Friday and be lazy. Maybe we'll hit a waterpark. I asked if he wanted to do SWW and he said NO. I asked him where my geek was that I married. :sad2: He just didn't want to deal with the crowds.

Now I have to see if there's anything else going on that Friday.

I'm also reconsidering our TS for Epcot. And now I'll have to add in another TS meal! I was thinking about 1900 Park Fare for Friday ... but not 100% on that.

Anyway, we currently have Coral Reef for Epcot ... but I think I'd rather eat in WS. We did Chefs de France last year and Akershush the year before. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe we'll eat in UK. :confused3 I really don't know. Nothing wrong with Coral Reef, but we can eat seafood at home ... and I think I'd rather broaden our taste buds.

So anyway.... my TO DO list now is check Disney's schedules for Friday. See if I need to add an extra park ticket for the evening. Call the TA and have her extend our vacation by one day. Reserve a car. Not to mention ... :laundy:

So I just had to use that emoticon.

First off, Happy Birthday Seth and Granny!!! :thumbsup2
Loved the chocolate ice-cream on his lips and mouth....:lmao: It reminds me of my own kids....:rotfl:
Also, loved all the food pics! One thing you will have to know about me is, I am ALL about the food. I will have to make sure to take some good pics of my plates on this upcoming trip and hopefully, the food will still be on them. :rotfl2:
That is great you all are renting a car. I wish we could, but DH works in IT at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and they changed the employee discount program and he thinks it is a rip now.....so we will be driving our own car. :sad1:
One tip I can give you about car rentals is that mini vans tend to be more expensive to rent for some reason. So you might want to go with a SUV or larger car (if you have lots of luggage).
:lovestruc Loved your latest posts, as always! Cannot wait to read more! :worship:

Okay, so in 2009, when I was searching for QS places for AK to eat at, I marked FTBBQ off instantly. As we were there and walked past it, it made my mouth water. So we ate there in 2010 (I could never get those delicious smells out of my head). It was... YUM! And I don't care what DH and the kids want to eat this year, I'm eating at FTBBQ (with or without them :rotfl:). So how is it in comparison to FlameTree?

Honestly....I'm not sure. :confused3 I got the ribs at FTBBQ and a bbq baked potato at J&N.

He had a good birthday overall. He got a lot of Thomas stuff (puzzles, two different "take along" packs, a game) and lots of lego-like stuff. The package said 5+ on it, but he lost most of the pieces before we even got home. :confused3 He also got quite a few hot wheels items, and a Mario backpack-thing. It was very girly ... it was basically a huge plush Mario that you can wear on your back (with a tiny zipper pocket to stick stuff in).

DS will get presents from mom and dad on Tuesday when we go out for his birthday dinner (he gets to pick the restaurant - right now, its Burger King :lmao:). He's looking forward to school on Tuesday, too. In the Pre-K program, the birthday child gets to be "the big cheese" for the day (line leader, helps with the calendar, checks the weather, leads songs and stuff, etc). They call the school principal "the master big cheese", which is adorable. I only wish that it was on Wednesday - that's when DD's classroom comes to the Pre-K room and reads to the kids. It would have been nice for big sis to visit his class on his birthday. :thumbsup2

Anyway, celebration is done. Up next: FOOD!

Happy Birthday Seth and Granny! I love that Granny turned 5 again. :lmao: Very cute cookie cake! Glad that he had a great birthday! That is too cute about getting to be the "big cheese" at school!

WOOHOO for an extra day!! :dance3:I don't blame you for not wanting to eat something at Epcot that you could eat at home. Have you ever tried Biergarten? DH loves it. (I'm not really a fan, but I'm not big on buffets unless it's breakfast food. :rolleyes1) Or there's always Le Cellier!

Whatever do you mean? :lmao:

Also, loved all the food pics! One thing you will have to know about me is, I am ALL about the food. I will have to make sure to take some good pics of my plates on this upcoming trip and hopefully, the food will still be on them. :rotfl2:

I'm the same way. Every meal (except Cali Grill), I had my camera right there ... but I was soo about the food, I dove in and thought about a picture afterwards. And when I did remember, DH gave me the cranky face when I told him to not touch his plate so I could take a pic of it. :rotfl:

I was checking prices again, and they've all gone up! :scared1: So I'm not sure what we'll do. I'd like to see if my dad will swap cars with me for the week, but I've not mentioned to him that we're going yet. He doesn't get Disney and making memories ... so I like to avoid the lecture for as long as possible. :headache: Plus, he's got a big mouth, and if I tell him, he'll let it slip around the kids. (He's very forgetful, and will just forget that it was a surprise - not do it to be mean.) So I'll probably put a hold on a car, but hopefully we won't need it. The less money I spend on something like renting a car, the more money I can spend on Disney junk we don't need! :lmao:

A BBQ baked potato sounds good right now ...

Happy Birthday Seth and Granny! I love that Granny turned 5 again. :lmao: Very cute cookie cake! Glad that he had a great birthday! That is too cute about getting to be the "big cheese" at school!

Thank you! I think Great American Cookie Company does nice last minute work (since DS refused to decide what he wanted)!

I actually haven't scouted menus. When I originally was booking ADRs, we couldn't agree on anything in WSC, so we decided on Coral Reef. And I don't want to shell out 2 TS credits for a steak. :sad2: But we may look at Biergarten. I think we were going to originally eat at UK and then DH said no ... but not quite sure why.

I tried to load up this thread on my phone, and it seemed to do well for viewing. I didn't try to reply, or load the main DIS threads, but it seemed to be okay. So I may play with it more when I'm out.

I think the Neely's own Memphis. :rotfl: I didn't realize how big their franchise was! I just watch their shows on FN channel and they crack me up - especially when they disagree. They are soo sweet on camera and their arguments are honey-coated. LOVE IT! I actually tried one of their recipes for Thanksgiving (I think it was the cranberry sauce) and it was YUM!

If we ever make it out West, we'll have to try one of the places you mentioned. :thumbsup2

responding is hit or miss, i think. i have to put my finger somewhere on the reponse area and drag it down SLOWLY until i get to the bottom to leave my response. but it works.

i figured out how to turn signatures off. go to user cp, then on the left find edit options. scroll down to thread display options and there you can turn off signatures, avatars, or pictures. i haven't tried it on here, but on another board i am on it really helped spead up the page loading when i turned signatures off.

and happy birthday to your family!!

:rotfl: Yep, I am sure the family won't be a bit happy about me snapping pics of every meal before they can even take a bite. I have asked DD to help me remember. I have noticed that DD is really getting that teenager attitude, lately and she is only 9. I think I may have my hands full with her. I just hope she let's loose and has some fun in Disney and leaves the "tude" behind.

I know!!! Right!!...between the gas prices and rental car prices and everything else it is going to drive us all to the poor house. :scared1: Something definitely has to give soon.

My sis just got a brand new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee this past weekend. I was trying to convince her that she needs to have it broken in and we will gladly help her out with that in May on our trip to Florida. :lmao: She wasn't diggin' it. :sad2:

I received my Disney order today. Will be posting pics on my thread soon.:banana::banana:

Well, you could always do a late lunch at LC and it would only be 1 TS credit. :thumbsup2 We also really like Teppan Edo...but it's very similar to Wasabi, which we can eat at home anytime, so.....

I meant to say earlier that there is a great app for getting on the boards on your phone - it's the DIS app, it's called eTicket WDW. It's $5.99, but it has maps, park hours, a place to browse details of all the shows and attractions at each park, plus access to the boards.

Thanks for the info! That will really be helpful when I'm not on WIFI! :thumbsup2

Oh thank goodness I am not alone! :worship: I thought DD jumped from 8 to 14. Maybe if you make it a game, she'll get into it. I think I'll let DD take pics of her own food (she loves to use my camera), and that might help keep the 'tude at bay, and she will be sure to help us remember. :lmao:

But if you don't test her new Jeep, how will she ever know if it will handle driving to FL? :confused3 :lmao:

Tell her your friends on the DISboards back up your science project. :thumbsup2

I saw your pics! You got some awesome loots! I'm a bit jealous. :rotfl:

Well, you could always do a late lunch at LC and it would only be 1 TS credit. :thumbsup2 We also really like Teppan Edo...but it's very similar to Wasabi, which we can eat at home anytime, so.....

We've skipped Teppan because it did seem too much like Wasabi's. I think we'll just sift through the WSC TS places and pick something. (Odds are, Le Cellier is booked anyway. :lmao:) The more I think about it, though, the more I want to try something out of my comfort zone. (Even if I don't like it, we can always grab a snack afterwards.) So we might try something more daring. Who knows. I'll have to see what DH thinks.

I'm actually tracking eTicket to see if they run a sale. I'm frugal when it comes to apps for the phone. Outside of DISboards, it didn't seem to offer anything I don't already have for free. Do you have it? Is it really worth $6? I wish you could have like a 24 hour free trial for some of these apps. :lmao:

I love it! I use it just about every day. But I'm an admitted app-addict. :rotfl:

Okay, so its not really in stone ... but I did write it in sharpie, does that count?

Dates: May 22 - 27

22nd: Arrival day
Lunch: Depending on what time we arrive in FL... if after 11, we'll grab a McD's or something outside of the WDW resort area; if before 11, we'll snag lunch at Cafe Rix or Peppermarket
Dinner: 6:00 Wolfgang Puck

23rd: Hollywood Studios
Lunch: Backlot Express, Pizza Planet, or Studio Catering Company
Dinner: 6:45 50's Prime Time Cafe

24th: Animal Kingdom
Lunch: Flame Tree BBQ
Dinner: 6:30 Maya Grill

25th: Magic Kingdom
Lunch: Columbia Harbour House, Cosmic Ray's, or Pecos Bill
Dinner: 5:35 Tony's Town Square

26th: Epcot
Lunch: Lotus Blossom Cafe, Sunshine Seasons, Tangierine Cafe, Yakitori House, or Yorkshire County Fish Shop
Dinner: 5:30 Biergarten

27th: Check-out day
Depending on how we feel (and weather), we may lunch at the resort or possibly DTD. If we do DTD, it will be Wolfgang Pucks, Rainforest Cafe, or Earl of Sandwich.

NOTES:
So I know I said we were going to extend our stay, but there was no availability at CSR. :confused3 The CM said we could move to another resort, but we couldn't add a day for CSR. So I called DH and asked what he wanted to do. He was adamant on staying at CSR. I asked if he wanted me to book a room only for the night (but stated that we would not be guaranteed to keep our room - even though we probably would, just not guaranteed). He said he'd rather drive over to the beach instead. So it looks like we'll probably check-out late on Friday and play in the pool some, then drive over to the beach (or possibly go to a WP). I dunno what DH is going to do. :confused3

Anyway, back to food. Some of the options for QS that we listed above, we've had before. I'd like to try new things, but we may really be in the mood for something, so didn't want to exclude it. :thumbsup2

My goal is to have lunch around 11 or 11:30ish so we can be in and out before the crowds hit and hopefully stand in smaller lines for rides.

We'll do breakfast in the room (granola bar or poptart) or hit a bakery inside the park early (muffin or danish or something).

We'll probably grab a snack (to share) around 2ish (like a pretzel or something). We may get icecream at some point in the day as well. I have to have my Mickey Bar!

What's your favorite places to dine and why?

DH's is Wolfgang Pucks and Rainforest Cafe. He loves the food and the decor. Wolfgang's is a must for each trip.

Mine is Wolfgang Pucks and Cosmic Ray's. Wolfgang's sushi is soo yummy. And I love the little show at Cosmic Ray's. :thumbsup2

Your plans sounds great! And I think a Sharpie counts....:rotfl:

Happy Bday, Seth!!!! Are you having another celebration today?

Took Jay in for blood test to see about his peanut allergy today and his Allergist heard a heart murmur. I then immediately made an appt. with his Pediatrician and found that he has an Innocent Murmur. Which is very common, but still.....I am going to go totally gray or lose my hair from all of this stress. The doc referred him to a Pediatric Cardiologist just to ease my fears. I tell you it is always something. He was diagnosed with a Silent Murmur when he was born, but it apparently went away then the peanut allergy, then hospitalization for severe asthma and now this again.....:sad2: I have definitely had my share of stress. I have to make sure his heart is okay before we go to Disney and I make him ride some scary rides. :rolleyes1

Noticed you were going to eat off site before arriving at Disney. So, do you notice when eating off site that every place you go to has those dang balloon people making balloon animals and such. People floating around trying to make a buck or two making balloon items for your kiddos??? I was kind of impressed when we ate a some pizza place and they had them there, but DS fell on the way out the door and popped his balloon sword that we tipped the guy $5 for....THESE PEOPLE ARE EVERYWHERE!!!....so now we try to avoid eye contact....Chili's and IHOP right off of park property had those crazy balloon people there, too, and they are pretty pushy. Of course, the kiddos want one everytime, but it was getting kind of old. Okay, I am off my soapbox. :lmao:

So they couldn't guarantee you another night in your room at CSR???? That is crazy! But the beach will definitely be fun. Which beach are you guys planning on going to? We are staying in Ft Myers a week after our Disney trip. I will need it to rest up, from the Drill Sargeant (DH) pushing us to do and see everything while there.

That stinks about not being able to add another night but then again it IS Memorial Day weekend. No possible way to add it to the beginning of the vacation, right?

As far as favorite restaurants, honestly, the only time I had a full stay we ate at Coral Reef and Teppan Edo. The rest of the time was pretty much last minute dinner in the food court at POP. Teppan Edo was a great show but the food was as good as the good hibachi place by home so nothing new for us. Coral Reef wasn't amazing for food but the atmosphere was terrific.

Happy Bday, Seth!!!! Are you having another celebration today?

Thank you! We took him out for dinner (his choice). He originally picked Burger King, but we convinced him a table-service restaurant would be better and he went with Chili's. He didn't want any of their desserts, so we took him to Marble Slab afterwards. :goodvibes

Oh wow! I'm sure that its totally nothing! Fingers are crossed and you guys are in my thoughts! DS had a murmur when he was little, but they never sent him to a specialist. He was less than a year old when the pediatrician said she couldn't hear it anymore (and hasn't heard it since). I'm praying its absolutely nothing ... and that they didn't really hear a murmur, it was just extra noise in the stethoscope! Please keep us posted okay? How did his allergy test go?

We've never eaten off-site before. Last year, we arrived before 11, so we ate at DTD. The year before, we stopped at McD's for a late breakfast not long after we hit the FL border and then went to DTD for an early dinner (I guess we skipped lunch that day).

So I imagine it will be a McD's or BK (something unhealthy I'm sure) if we stop before arriving at the resort. However, if we make good time, we'll be at the resort before lunchtime. But it also depends on how long the kids sleep in the car. We don't want to wake them for breakfast because its hard on them to sit patiently in the car. Plus we have to stop for extra bio breaks. :lmao: But if we stop closer to the resort, I'll keep the balloon people in mind. Thanks for the heads up! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure what beach we'll go to. I've only been to Ormond Beach (in 2009). This is all DH's area of expertise. I was sad that it won't be at WDW, but relaxing at the beach won't be too bad. Granted, the beach is not relaxing for me......

I had never been to the beach ... so as soon as I stepped into the ocean, something touched me. :scared1: I'm sure it was just a fish or something ... but I never made it back to the water the rest of the week. I enjoyed the pool, however! Plus, I was afraid a wave would take the kids waaaaay out, so I was a bit nervous with the kids near the water. The only time I was relaxed was when the kids and I were poolside. :lmao: But I will admit, it was beautiful to watch the sunrise over the ocean and see dolphins playing. (We had an awesome view from our room, so that first cup of coffee was just breathtaking!)

We can't add a day before because DH will be Best Man in his BFF's wedding on Saturday (which they are honeymooning at WDW). So we do the wedding, get a couple hours of sleep, then jump into the car and drive down. :drive:

So yeah, it was probably booked because of the holiday coming up ... but it just bites that it was only CSR and DH didn't want to move to a different resort.

I want to try Teppan Edo, but I'm afraid that it will be the same food we can get around here - and probably a similar show. We canceled Coral Reef because we just got a new seafood place here (which was good), and if we do a day at the beach, we'll have seafood there instead! :thumbsup2

I LOVE Chili's!!! Here in our area they were offering a "kid's eat free'' special with an adult entree yesterday. I tried to talk Jay into eating there while we waited to get into his pediatrician and it was an absolute "no" from him. He has this crazy knack of knowing when I might be saving money and goes the other direction.....:rotfl:
Allergy test went great. The phlebotomist (sp?) was totally geared up for him to freak out or wiggle around during the blood draw. The tech had me hold him like a straight jacket and then an assist came in and held his arm and talked to him to keep him distracted. All that wasn't needed because he didn't even flinch. I told him what to expect and last year he was so good during the draw and also with his flu shot. I knew there wouldn't be a problem! :thumbsup2 He tested at a 6 last year and it has to be 5 and under for them to do a food challenge at the Children's Hospital. Under 2 to do it at the dr. office. I hope he can do a challenge and on the other hand I am scared for him to do a challenge. :scared1: I saw his reaction when he was 13 months to a tiny bite of peanut butter and it scared me to death. He puffed up, broke out in hives, vomited, diahrrea (tmi) crying and screaming. It was horrible. I gave him a benadryl and rushed him to the er. I never want to see him go thru that again. Scary stuff!!! I have so many new wrinkles from this precious boy in the 5 years he has been alive. We find out the result to his blood test Mon. or Tues.
Thanks for asking!
I pray this heart murmur is nothing. I have to have him checked out and make sure his ticker is okay before I make him ride TOT in Disney. :lmao:
Getting ready now for his bday celebration tonight. Cake is made and hubs is picking up White Castles  for dinner. I will post pics of the cake and plates and such on my thread here in a few. :cool1::cool1:

We used the Kids Eat Free last night at Chili's. :lmao: It was better than Burger King.

Glad to hear that the blood draw was easy! My kiddos flip out if they think someone is coming near them with a needle. Every I mention doctor, DD tears up and whines that she doesn't want to be poked with a needle. :sad2:

I can't imagine how awful it was to see him puff up and suffer. :( The only bad reaction we had was when DD turned out to be allergic to an antibiotic they put her on. She was on it for a few days and then she broke out in hives and a rash (I had never seen hives before). Took her to a walk-in (it was a Saturday) and they fixed her all up.

I'll be anxiously awaiting for you to hear back on the allergy test. Here's hoping for a low number and that the challenge goes perfect! :thumbsup2

I have faith that everything will be fine and he'll be sitting next to you on ToT! (Can my DD ride with you guys as well? :lmao: Then I don't have to be the first mom to stand in line crying and begging for a chicken exit.)

Loved your cake! Hope your burgers are good! :thumbsup2

Most definitely your DD could ride with us if we ever went at the same time. She sounds like my kind of girl.:thumbsup2 Kay was a dare devil at age 5 the first time we went to WDW. In 2009 she seemed much more apprehensive. :confused3 She went down a water slide this past summer that was like 3 stories tall. The ones that go straight down that you have to cross your arms and such, but she gets nervous about TOT? She is still braver than her brother, though. He is nervous about most rides. I think Mike (hubs) ruined him with those dang teacups.....:lmao:
How is your gal doing with her asthma? Is it getting any better? Did they ever find out if it was caused by an allergy or exertion?

I am going to try to stay positive with DS's issues. It will all work out....it always does. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger....RIGHT?

I will post some pics from Jay's celebration tonight on my thread. He seemed excited about the bike, but once we helped him get on it he wanted off and said he could ride it when he was 10? :confused3 He seemed nervous on it. I am really going to have to work with him. A little extra push may be in order to get him to ride. :rolleyes1

I can handle any ride so long as its not ToT!!! I think it stems a lot from being in an "elevator". I got trapped in one at my last job (it would break down all the time), so maybe if it wasn't "elevator" themed, I'd do better. :lmao: I mean, I'm terrified of heights, but I've rode some really tall coasters and they don't phase me one bit. :confused3

That water slide sounded like a wedgie waiting to happen. :rotfl2: I've not done a water slide (outside of one in a raft) in probably 10 years. I was hoping to hit one of the WDW WPs this year, but doesn't look like it will happen.

DS is pretty apprehensive on rides. He's already told me he's not big enough for roller coasters (but he loves BTMRR) when we were planning our Six Flags trip. I think I can put DD on anything now and she'll be happy! So I'm thankful to have a riding buddy because DH won't do anything with hills, flips, or wild turns. If its considered "thrill", he'll pass. (He'll ride BTMRR, and log flume rides, but that's really about it.)

Her asthma is under control, so long as she doesn't miss a breathing treatment. And its both that's triggering it. If she plays outside, she has to take an additional treatment, and she's having to do a treatment after most days at Gym.

And yes, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger! I'm a firm believer that nothing isn't thrown at us that we can't overcome. :thumbsup2

If we lived closer, I'd suggest a bike play-date and maybe he'll feel "pressured" to ride to keep up with Seth. :lmao: I'm sure he'll get over his fears (whatever they are) in time. Has he explained what exactly it is that bothers him with the bike?
