May 2011: The kids are getting 3rd visit surprise! Now w/pics!

After all the discussion, the kids and I decided to go to mcalisters today before the grocery store. I didn't knowit was kids eat free day! What a bargain! The pot roast spud is still on the menu here.

Our Kids Eat Free day is Wednesdays.

I'm glad that they have the Pot Roast Spud still on your menu. I had the Harvest Chicken Chicken Salad Salad (wow, that's a mouthful) or something like that. It was a chicken salad on a salad and a spud. Maybe they'll fix the new menu soon and put it back. :confused3

Glad you got a bargain though! I love Kids Eat Free days at places!

Right now, the only consistent places (that I know of) is McAlister's on Wednesday and IHOP everyday. I usually get emailed coupons for Chili's for Tuesday nights.

I usually do the Pick 2 combo, with a sandwich and a Pot Roast spud. The Pot Roast Spud is gone. The whole dinner menu is gone. Lots of things were just gone. The menu was VERY limited - and just had item names, not descriptions. I was NOT happy. (The Big Nasty spud was okay.)

That does bite the big one. I would be very disappointed, too, if all the menu had changed and my favorites were gone. I didn't know McAllister's had Kids Eat Free. I don't think the one here does.:sad2:

I realized today that because of this phone-call waiting I've been having to do, I haven't volunteered much at the school, and I haven't gone in for my hair to be cut. :sad2: I started to go in today, but feared Murphy's Law. I'm worried that when they call (if they call) that I won't have much time to prep for the callback - and if I miss the call, I might miss the job. They didn't give me much time the first time they called, and was only doing interviews on that one day ... so I can see them calling and asking if I can be there within a few hours or first thing the next day. And I'm worried if I miss the call, I can't confirm and will miss out. :headache:

I agree with your DH. You just have to start doing your regular schedule and hopefully won't miss being able to call them back if they do call. This waiting around is getting to me and I cannot imagine what you must be going through. It is hard to put your life on hold for a phone call, but I am sure I would do the same exact thing if I were in your shoes. I am glad you that you at least have your vacation nailed down. :cool1:

DH told me to just forget all about the job. And I'm ready to follow his advice. I searched the Classifieds today, and there was two listings that sounded okay, but it was "fax your resume to this random phone number" or "send your email to this random @ gmail address". I want to know where I'm applying for before I send in my resume. Any company that can't claim their own name on the classified isn't one I'd like to work for.

I agree that a company that isn't even advertise their own company isn't any place that anyone would like to work. A company that is on the up and up would want to advertise their name while also looking for quality candidates.

I'm ready to bring out my foot spa and have a spa day with DD. We could both use it. :thumbsup2

I think you definitely do! You and DD need some quality time together!

Thanks for the awesome words, TK.:flower3: I appreciate you hanging in there with me. :worship:

 Aww! Thanks Lidian! You know I am always here with an open eye....:lmao: if you ever need to write.....:lmao: :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I remember from another post you had mentioned that you like "Witches and Warlocks" or something on that order. Have you ever played "Magic the Gathering"?

Ours has a HUGE banner hanging advertising to bring the kids in on Wednesday.

I'm so relieved about the vacation. It has taken a massive weight off my shoulders. I'll eventually get back to my daily schedule ... but can't force myself to do it just yet. :lmao:

I agree that a company that isn't even advertise their own company isn't any place that anyone would like to work. A company that is on the up and up would want to advertise their name while also looking for quality candidates.

Iknowright?! I mean, I get that classifieds are limited on space, but if you're truly seeking professional individuals, you gotta be up front with what company you're representing. There's too many scam companies out there, and that's what these look like if they don't want to say "send your resume to XYZ Inc c/o HR Dept 123 Main St". PO Box 123 doesn't cut it for me.

Wait a minute ... did they rearrange the smilies? I couldn't find the cranky face one.

No, thank YOU, TK (and everyone else for that matter). :grouphug:

Witches and Warlocks .. that sounds like it would be a fun game. If you invent it, hook me up with a cheap copy, mkay? ;)

I play World of Warcraft .. but DH has played Magic the Gathering before. He still has cards, but no one to play with. :rotfl2: (I've never played, it never interested me. Why? Do you play?)

No, Thank you! Miss Lidian!!!;)

HAAAA! :lmao: Yes, I will definitely include you in my new game creation. It does sound fun, doesn't it???
No, hubs plays "Magic the Gathering" and taught DD to play, as well. Yes, we are geeks, too! :rotfl2: Too bad our hubs don't live closer they could be Magic buddies. :rotfl:

I think I screwed up with mulching my flowers too early.....ugggghhh! :sad2: I was just researching it and it said, not to mulch until first signs of green new growth popping from the ground. Duh! I guess it would need some sunlight. :sad2: I will have to get out there pronto and remove a lot of the mulch. I guess I can just move it to the area that we were needing to mulch. All that work for nothing and now I have created even more work. ( this is my mad face!!!! :rotfl2:)
I guess you can tell I don't have have a green thumb either. Live and learn!!! I won't make that rookie mistake again.
:confused3

It does stink that you guys aren't nearby. DH really could use some M:tG friends to play with. Just recently we went to our mall and another new game shop has opened (they keep popping up, but never last). It has lots of tables setup for people to play M:tG and Munchkin, as well as any table-top RP game (card or dice). I haven't table-top RP'ed in years, but I do think it would be fun to get a group going. All of our friends we used to game with moved away after high school. :sad2: The ones that stuck around aren't into the geeky stuff. :rotfl:

But anyway, back on topic ... DH wanted to check it out, and I could just see in his eyes that he was in his own version of WDW while checking out this store. He even commented that he wished he had someone to play with. I told him that he should just lurk the store and wait for a group to come in, or talk to the clerk to see if he has any leads on when gamers show and if anyone was looking for a new friend. But he's shy and didn't want to. He wouldn't have been comfortable playing with strangers anyway. Plus, DH is one of those people that you either love him or hate him - there's no middle ground on how you feel about my DH. :lmao: So he'd probably get stuck with the group that hated him anyway.

At least its something else we can throw on the list for when you guys come visit the Smokies! We can make a play date for our DH's. :lmao:

We went to IHOP the other night and we always ask for a specific server (he's the only one there that actually takes care of his tables). I had my phone sitting out and he noticed it. He pointed to it and asked questions, and amazingly, he GOT my phone reference. So he practically sat down and we talked anime and then it went into games, and DH's face even lit up. I told him that he should have given the waiter his number so they could go hang out sometime, but he thought it would be too weird. I don't remember what our server was playing, Warhammer 40k maybe?, but it was definitely something DH was wanting to play but had no one to play with. I thought it would have been nice for him to meet up with this guy and play. We really do like this server - and if he's not working when we go to IHOP we don't stay - we go somewhere else to eat. (Everytime we've stayed, I've always had to complain to their corporate office about our visit.)

Wow ... here I am rambling. I really should go get my first cup of coffee and get started on the housework! :scared1:

I'm sorry that you may have to redo some of your flowers. I hope that you can fix it pretty easily and not have to work hard on it. I don't know anything about gardening, so no helpful advice here. I figure when I'm ready to get a nice garden going, I'll pay someone to come set it up and instruct me on caring for it. :lmao: It might be the only way we have a flower in our yard. Then again, I'm okay without flowers, because they attract bees and bees sting, and then I blow up like a balloon and have to go to the ER. But they sure are pretty to look at and I'd love to have fresh flowers on our table every now and then.

G'luck with your gardening! Lemme know how it pans out for you! Can't wait to see pretty pictures of it!!

OMG, it is so crazy that you guys are talking about WoW and M:tG. I used to go to a friends house every sunday in my early 20's to play M:tG and had a great time doing it. I haven't played in years but recently found my old cards and was teaching my son how to play. Ahh, it brought back memories.:)\

I play warcraft once at the same house with about five of us linked through computers. It was a lot of fun, but being a newbie they basically left me alone. I have been thinking to try WoW but have to figure out if it is in by budget. Maybe I will look into it more after Disney.:confused3

I am still hoping that you get a call soon from that job lidian, but I beginning to agree with your DH. They are putting you through a lot of stress when you should be looking foward to your trip to disney.

:goodvibes for your Monday!!

:rotfl:That is great that you guys have made friends with the IHOP server. I think the next step is having him over for a game night. :lmao:
Too bad we don't live closer. I am sure DH would love to have someone to play Magic with. Dh also plays a lot of other nerdy games, too, I will have to have him give me a list. :rotfl2: He has tried to teach me Magic but I am just not that into it. I just don't get it. :confused3 He also plays some Zombie game. Jay was watching him play it and had nightmares. :scared1: No more Zombie games for Jay.

Well, I already moved a lot of the mulch. Jay and I was out there at 8am trying to get it moved over while Kay was waiting for the bus. He found some ants and was taking food from them. He said, "Momma, the ants are carrying seeds or something!" and then came over to show me what one was carrying in it's mouth.:lmao: While moving the mulch, I noticed a Dahlia bulb in the shovel..... I put it back where I thought it went, but who knows??? I will be surprise if anything will bloom at all. I have really made a mess of it. I will keep my eyes crossed that something happens, since I have every other body part crossed for you! :lmao: Pics will definitely be taken. We can get a good laugh out of it anyway. :rotfl:

Now, I need to try to get a handle on this house. How does just one weekend make our house look like a tornado has hit it???
I have soooo much laundry!:scared1:

New plans for WDW....Hubs has decided to rent a SUV after all. He thinks if we get a new model it will probably be more fuel efficient. :cool1: And that way I don't have to put all the mileage on my Jeep, since we will be driving down toward the Florida Keys after Disney. That equals a lot of xtra mileage. We will be spending about $300 for 2 weeks for a mid size SUV with his discount. :woohoo: Anything to save gas! :lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Now if that wasn't a run-on sentence, I dunno what is.

I've never played Warcraft (but I'd like to), but I love World of Warcraft. If you ever try WoW, lemme know! If you need a server, you can come join the one I'm on - I can PM you details. We have a great guild, and I'm not just biased. It really is a great guild.

Thank you for the kind words, Corrine. I'm not even thinking about the job... much. :lmao:

I really do think DH should give our IHOP server his number the next time we're in. I think it would be great for him. We don't get out much, so we haven't made many friends around here (remember, most of our friends moved away after HS), and now another one of his BFFs is moving away. The last local friend he has, well, they don't get to talk much. That's a long story, and not suitable for a Disney forum.

But yeah, I think it would do him some good. The server knows us by names, he always asks what we want, just in case we want something different, but he knows exactly what we eat and drink and he spends a lot of time talking to us and getting to know us better. I think DH hanging out with him and his friends would be a great thing. Maybe next time. :thumbsup2

What zombie game? If its Plants vs Zombies - DS loves it! DD and DS both play it on DH's PC - DH put it on my old laptop, but its not on my new one. If its another zombie game, I dunno - but I'm sure DH plays it. He plays EVERYTHING. I'm not kidding. I check out bank statement online, and he buys at least 4 new games a month. :scared1: I'm happy with my WoW and Sims.

So were the ants stealing your newly planted seedlings? That was cute that Jay was playing with them. :lmao:

Glad you moved the mulch. I'm sure you'll have a GORGEOUS garden in no time! I can't wait to see pics and be jealous! :goodvibes

My fingers and everything else is crossed for your pretty new flowers to bloom and all your neighbors to pester you for tips on an amazing garden. :thumbsup2

I dunno why the weekends always makes a house look like its gone through a natural disaster. I was thinking the same thing myself. If you need laundry done, just toss it into my new WORKING washing machine. That sucker will hold a TON of clothes. I was shocked that it held at least 3x more clothes than my old one! You just have to put your own clothes away. :laundy:

Glad to hear about the SUV rental! That sounds awesome and what a SUPER deal! We still haven't decided what we'll do about our drive down. I'm really hoping my dad will loan us his SUV (he has a 4-Runner) and we've loved having it the past two drives down. But since dad is working again and taking care of Granny, I'm not sure if he'll be able to spare his SUV. Granny would struggle to get in/out of my little car ... and I've yet to tell dad we're going back. I'm just not looking forward to the lecture on "there are better things to spend your money on" and "you should be saving up to buy X, Y, and Z things". :sad2: I know he means well, and he's partly right, but the kids are only young once and memories last a lifetime. These WDW trips are more important to us than silly objects. I dunno what dad will say when I finally buy into DVC. :rotfl2:

Ugh, I am not sleeping well, and its really starting to show. I have no attention span, and I can't seem to stay on topic ... or even remember if there was a topic. I should grab more coffee or something... :surfweb:

Where is everybody??? I really need to check out Corinne's trivia. I love the way she puts the tips on the bottom. So many things I need to check when I get to Disney, like the Cinderella castle and mosiac of the step sisters.....so neat!!

Well, it looks like it is the Lidian and mtgirl29 show!!!

You make me laugh!!! :rotfl2: You posts are so humorous!!!!

I agree IHOP guy sound pretty cool!:thumbsup2 It is really hard to find great servers and for him to have an awesome personality, too. Sounds like a winning situation. When you have him over for game night maybe he could serve up the snacks and refill the drinks, too. That is sooo bad, but I had to write it....the devil made me do it!!. :wizard:
The zombie game is called, "Left for Dead 2". He also likes "Portal", "Metal of Honor", "Dragon Age" and "Team Fortress 2". Does your hubs play any of those?

I am not sure what the ants were eating, but Jay was having a little too much fun tormenting them. He lets them crawl around on him. I don't even know if ants bite???? I need to google that. He also found some red blood mites in there. He was squishing them so it left red marks. Total boy!! Sounds like I need to spray the garden with some bug b gone, but I don't want to kill my flowers. I am sure it is good to have those critters in there. :scared1: :confused3

Wow! 3x more clothes in the washing machine. That rocks!!! I stuff mine so full, sometimes I wonder if it gets throughly clean. I have about 2 more loads to do. The dryer drum seems much larger than the washers.

You haven't told your dad, yet? He and Granny may want to come along. :lmao: I agree with creating memories and boy what memories you will have with this being a surprise to the kiddos. Do you think your dad may spill the beans, if he knew? My parents were the same way, they were savers and we never went on vacation when I was a kid. We did a lot of camping. I never flew in a plane until I was 25 and the first time I saw the ocean I was 19. I didn't go to Disney until I was 34.
I am sooo wanting to get in on the DVC. My old dentist was a member and she loved it! I love those new villas that they just built in 2009.

 Sorry to hear that you aren't sleeping well. I hope they call soon! I guess more coffee will have to do in the mean time. :goodvibes

:goodvibes

Eventually I'll find the mosiacs at the castle. Maybe. :lmao:

I smell a DISMeet trip for us moms to just go in search of these hidden treasures!

Do you think IHOP guy would mind serving up the snacks and beverages? I mean, I'd be totally cool if you think he'd be up for it. :rotfl2:

DH plays all of those games. Is your DH getting Portal 2 tomorrow? I even play Dragon Age, but not the expansion or DA:2. Just the first one. Even if I just typed out shortened names of DH's games, when I hit post, it would tell me I'm over the character limit. :rotfl: He seriously has TOO many games. I know DH is anxious for Portal 2, but he's whining about the price. "I paid less than $10 for the original Portal, and now they're making me pony up $60 for Portal 2?! And I can't even get it on my D2D account where I have a permanent 15% off!!!" :sad2:

As far as ants go, I know some bite ... but not sure which ones. DH even has a game that's all ant educational and stuff and he could tell you. (A winged ant was in the car and I flipped out because I didn't know what it was, so he was educating us all about ants.)

In my case, my washer is bigger than my dryer now. :rotfl: Now I need to upgrade my dryer so it can hold a full load from my washer. I'm having to run it through the dryer 1.5x now just to get the clothes dry since its so full.

I know dad wants to see Disney, so I'm hoping that in a year or two, I can get him down there with us. He promised to take mom before I was born, so we took her with us in 2009. It was our first trip. (Well, technically I saw MGM and Epcot in '93 on a school trip, but we were kids and didn't fully "get" touring the parks, so we missed so much. And really, all I remember is seeing Joey Lawrence at MGM.)

I have never been on a plane, and I had never seen the beach before our trip in 2009 - we went to Ormond Beach. We did camp a lot when we were going up. We'd go to Fall Creek Falls every July - we were ALWAYS there for the 4th. Our last trip was very ... memorable. And because of it, I've not really had the heart to go back.

And to be honest, I've barely been out of TN.

Maybe you can find some bug spray that just kills the bad bugs and leaves the good ones alone - and the flowers? I dunno anything about that stuff ... so I'm no help.

I think I'm going to start my own version of trivia ... stealing other people's ideas. B'wahahahaha!

I'm going to be an idea thief and steal other's ideas for now. B'wahahahaha! No, you can't have them back. ;)

To start, I'm going to share my Countdown App with you:
Years: 0.09
Weeks: 4.68
Days: 32.78
Hours: 786.71
Minutes: 47202.41

Otherwise, 4 weeks, 4 days, 18 hours, and 42 minutes until we pile into the car and :drive: down to WDW!:banana::banana:

I decided I'd do my own version of trivia. You can't cheat on this one, because while its Disney related, its about my family! (Favorite characters, rides, etc.) Sure, some of the answers may be in earlier posts, but here's how the game will work.

I'll ask the question and give multiple choice answers. You have to guess and explain why you chose that response.

THEN, you have to answer the question about yourself. I'll do this 2-3x a week or so until we leave. That will give people who don't live on here (really, I can quit anytime I want :lmao:) a chance to respond. Ready to play?

What is DS(5)'s favorite Disney show?

A. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
B. Handy Manny
C. Phineas & Ferb
D. Special Agent Oso
E. Fish Hooks

What is your favorite (or one of your kid's favorite) Disney TV show?

I won't be guessing at the trivia answers, but I'll answer in regards to myself! I absolutely love P&F. I really like Wizards of Waverly place, too. And you can never go wrong with the Hot Dog dance. :lmao: But to be honest, I think one of my favorite shows is Good Luck, Charlie. So really, I can't go wrong watching Disney TV ... but some shows I just tolerate (like Hannah Montana - great concept, poorly executed IMO). GL,C is really cute. I think the cast is great and Charilie is just sooo adorable! I will confess, I haven't seen the new episodes lately, and I blame DD for it. She's supposed to keep track of when its on. :rotfl2:

I would have to guess your DS's favorite show is P&F, also. As for my kiddos they like P&F, too. DS also likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I really like The Suite Life. Is that on the Disney Channel? :lmao: Have you seen the commerical for Lemonaid Mouth? The songs sound fabulous. We may have to pick that one for our trip. :thumbsup2

Cute game that you have going on. I'm going to pass on participating because 1) my kids are 25 and almost 23 and don't watch Disney anymore. :sad1: and 2) I must admit, I've never seen any of those shows myself. :scared1:

But I'll look forward to reading everyone else's answers and see how they do. :goodvibes

It's actually an app I have on my iPhone. I can view my countdown timer in a couple of different ways (and countdown multiple things).

Suite Life of Zack and Cody (and Suite Life on Deck) is a cute show. I've seen almost all of those as well (thanks to DD). I know she came home the other night furious that she missed an episode. :confused3

I've not heard of Lemonade Mouth. But we've had the TV off (mostly). My DVR runs, and I catch up on my shows while kids are at school, but once they're home, I try to keep the TV off until they get their chores and homework done. Guess I'll have to go check it out!

I'll rope you in on something. :lmao: Surely I'll have a question or two you can play along with. ;)

hmmmm- i think i'm going to have to go with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse- because you have Donald on your ticker.

as for my favorite- I like Good Luck Charlie, Wizards, and Jonas a lot. I also have no problem with Hannah, Suite Life, Suite life on deck, raven... well, its probably easier to list my least favorite:rotfl: i really wanted to like Shake it up. but there is something about it that bothers me. the behaviors and sarcasm aren't always what i want to show my kids. its probably not any worse than hannah, but it stands out to me more. i have to admit i was sad when hannah montana went off the air. i think it was more the nostalgia of watching her grow up rather than missing the acting though:rotfl2:

lemonaid mouth is a new movie with Briget Mendler from Charlie. we missed it last weekend, and are planning to watch it this weekend when they replay it.

I really do NOT like Shake It Up. I think its boring, lame, and I don't want my kids watching it. The show really makes it hard for me to like the girls if they move on to other things - as I can't stand the characters. I would much rather my kids watch HM than SIU anyday. At least you have BRC as comedic relief... and I do miss Olly-pop. :lmao: (Speaking of which, I didn't care for his new show. :guilty: ) I had forgotten about Raven's show - and the spin off. I loved That's So Raven. The spinoff with her "dad" and "brother" was cute, but not as good as her show.

I really loved the concept, but I didn't care for Miley being cast. And she wasn't the first choice. :sad2: I do think the writers did a good job, as the show was entertaining ... but she has not been a positive influence for DD. And yes, it is hard to see her grow up and the show cancelled - but knowing her poor influence has helped me past that stage.

I set my DVR to record Lemonade Mouth this weekend. I love Bridget Mendler - she's really sweet and talented. I miss her being on Wizards.

Immatation is the biggest form of flatery. Plus I think you one upped me, all my trivia I got from a book.:)

I am going to go out on a limb and say D. Special Agent Oso

I admitadly have Wizards of Waverly Place and Good Luck Charlie scheduled on my Tivo. I also tapped Lemondade Mouth (for the kids of course:lmao:) I really enjoyed the music. My DS 8 really likes Phineas and Ferb and The Suite Life On Deck. My younger to kids seem to really like the Jake and the Neverland Pirates, other shows on Disney Junior!:woohoo:

We haven't seen Jake yet. :( DS goes to school, so the TV goes off. Maybe we'll get to catch it after schools out. His last day is May 13th, so he'll have time to watch it before we go to WDW! :thumbsup2

I really should add WoWP and GLC added to the DVR, but DH already complains that I have too many programs listed. Plus, it stays around 60% full anyway. :lmao:

What is DS(5)'s favorite Disney show?

A. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
B. Handy Manny
C. Phineas & Ferb
D. Special Agent Oso
E. Fish Hooks

What is your favorite (or one of your kid's favorite) Disney TV show?

The correct answer is C. Phineas & Ferb. DS goes absolutely NUTS over P&F. He goes nuts over Donald, too ... and I do think Donald would be classified as his favorite character, but he just doesn't care much for the new MMCH shows. :sad1:

Before my iPhone, I had a cellphone charm on my Rant. What was depicted on my cellphone charm (purchased at the Disney store at DTD)?

A. Cinderella
B. Cinderella's Castle
C. Snow White
D. The Evil Queen (from Snow White)
E. Eeyore
F. Lightning McQueen

Do you have any Disney charms, wallpapers, etc on your phone? If so, what are they and why?

Today has been busy. Both kids had Easter parties and Egg Hunts at school today. I was only able to attend DS's - his teacher needed mommies more than DD's. Several.... issues came up, and I truly felt bad for DS's teacher.

Anyway, they made bunny rabbit cupcakes, a foam (flat) egg with their picture on it, an egg wreath, and chick footprints. They also made other crafts throughout the week, but I was on picture egg and chick footprint duty. Then they hunted for eggs and had a party (cupcakes, chips, egg gummies, and kool-aid).

While I was helping DS's teacher, my TA called. I HAVE MICKEY MAIL! She said my Disney documents were in and ready to be picked up. She also said that the odds of us finding a hotel on the beach (with what DH wants) is slim to none. So now I'm a bit aggravated at DH because he won't tell me what beach(es) so I can have the TA get us a room booked. I'm going to be really mad if we have to drive to the beach instead of sit on a balcony and enjoy it.

He's the one that really wants the beach, so I don't know why he's dragging his feet on this. :confused3 Now I'm afraid he's just going to change his mind and make us drive back to TN on the 27th.

Tonight, we have our Spring Carnival. I'll be working the Moonwalk bounce for a bit tonight, then I'll have plenty of time to spend with the kids afterwards. I always try to give some of my time for the school, but I make sure I have time to spare for the kids. I was sad I didn't get to see DD's activities today, but I can't be in two places at once. :sad2:

Still no word on the job front. Last I heard, they hadn't filled the position or called anyone in for 2nd interviews and the Division President had been in/out of the office the past few weeks making scheduling difficult. I haven't given up hope, but I have given up wondering and worrying.

I'll try to post pictures later of the activities. :thumbsup2
