May 2010 Trips!

Everyone is updated and we are at 97 DISers. Only 3 to go until we get to 100!
And congrats to you Reddog1134!

Only 2 days until we leave! I am finishing all the laundry now and will start packing in later this evening! :cool1:

I want to stake out a good spot for my son and I to see the Remember fireworks probably on Friday May 7th. Anyone want to meet up? For the first time it will be just me and my son (turning 7 next week). It would be nice to have a Disboarder or a few to chat with and take turns saving the spot if anyone needs a bathroom break.

My wife and (14 month old) daughter and I are going to Disneyland May 29 - June 1!!!!

We're staying at Paradise Pier...which as WDW vets excites us because we'll be in "the Bubble". Yes, it's a smaller bubble but it's still the Bubble. :wizard:

We so can't wait to show Disneyland to our daughter. Last time she was at Disneyland, she was 3 months. We've taken her to WDW recently and she has such a fun time with the characters, attractions and sights! So we can't wait to see her excitement at Disneyland!!

So this trip is to celebrate our daughter's 1 year birthday!

We just got back yesterday afternoon. Had a blast on this trip. Crowds were light after Sunday and the weather was great. A little breezy at times, but that kept it cool. We even walked onto Pirates and Indy Wednesday! We also took a Hidden Mickey book and found lots of Hidden Mickeys. That added an extra, fun twist to our trip.
We loved HOJOs and would stay there again. Don't know if I would pay for a premium room again, but the staff was great and the walk was quick. DH loved the coffee too.
I will be posting pictures later today or tomorrow of the room and view on the hotel photo thread and maybe a photo or two on here later.

So we are planning on either returning in November or traveling to WDW early next year. I have to run numbers as it gets closer and WDW releases 2011 rates in August...

Have a great day. Oh and we are up to 98 DISers!

I just returned from my girls weekend yesterday. Weather was prefect, if a little hot (coming from rainy Oregon it was hot. LOL). We had a GREAT time, though it was odd to go without any kids. My best friend and I got lots and lots done and crowds were very light Thursday, getting heavier as it progressed towards the weekend. Saturday it was pretty busy, but by then we'd rode the rides we really wanted to and utilized fastpass on ones we wanted to ride again. We also did stuff like the shows and had several fun trips to the Animation Academy. In all, we got lots done and had a great time.

Yeah!!! And coming from Vancouver? I should get with you to learn more about your home...since we'll be there next June for the Disney Alaska cruise! party: We plan to spend a day or two either before or after the cruise to sight-see since I don't know when we'll make it out to Vancouver again.

And a trip to Disneyland for your mom's 50th birthday? Awesome!!

See ya in Disneyland!!!!! :cool1:

Sure ya!!! Vancouver is beautiful!!! Lots to see. Disney Cruise huh? That sounds like a blast. Havent been on one of those yet, but I hear once you cruise it is hard to not go back to cruising. .... And yep... Mum's 50th trip. She knows she is going, but she doesnt know the "ENTIRE" family is going to celebrate her for the week. They are randomly going to bump into her in the park, and throw in some added perks. Give her a tiara, sash, birthday button, then we all take her to Medieval times Dinner and tournament, Goofy's kitchen that week, and also to Sandiego Zoo. She has no idea.

We were there last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It was a great trip. Lines were very short, weather was fabulous. I love going in May! No more June trips for me. The only down side was that 15 year old has now decided he is 'OVER' DL. He stayed in the hotel most of the time. Kind of sad but my husband and I had fun anyway. I waited less than 5 mins for a water side table at BB and heard the lady next to me brag that she didnt even have ressies and waited about 5 mins for a water side table as well. Cafe Orleans never filled up for lunch while we were seated. It was amazing! Can't wait to go back in March!:yay:

Was there stilll a wall around Cafe Orleans? I read somewhere on the boards there was awhile back. When I called to make my PS for next week the CM said she didn't have an answer to my question... I hope its gone. My favorite is to sit there and people watch while eating the best sandwich in the world! :)

That's great to hear! We will be there this Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sun. I know the weekend will be more crowded, but I'm hoping it will be like what you experienced the first couple of days! :goodvibes I'm glad you had a nice trip.

I'm sorry your 15 year old is 'OVER' DL. :sad2: My 18 year old can take it or leave it. (She's not coming with us) DH needs at least 5 years inbetween trips (He's not coming with us) My almost 15 year old is the biggest DL fan I know! (Besides me) and my 8 year old loves it too! We are taking my Mom this time. She hasn't been to DL in 22 years. She's excited! :)

As of last week there was a wall around the walls of the restaurant. You can still sit outside and people watch as the wall is not around the railing!

Just back! This was our best trip to DL ever. Only could have been better if it were longer!
We were in DCA on Friday, using our Volunteer vouchers. (yay free entrance) We stayed from opening till 8pm or so, to go to DTD for dinner. Ate at Tortilla Joes. EXCELLENT! Super service, almost no wait!
Did DL on Sat. Missed rope drop, as it took us a bit longer this day as will had my DGS use his voucher this day, and mom couldn't find his birth cert. No worries, they had to let a supervisor take over and do it, but they were very nice, and gave us no trouble. Rode everything that we hoped to, weather was awesome, lines from 5-20min, or we used fastpass. Stayed till 11:30 to get all we could out of one day.
Lots of teenagers, (they were well behaved!!) seemed really crowded, but very manageable if you used fastpass. Rides like SplMt were 100 min standby, other big ones 45-90 min at times. If we couldn't do FP, we checked back at a different time and did well.
I'm ready to go again, and my DGD3 has been asking since the day we left, if we could go back.:goodvibes

We were there Saturday and had similar experiences. LOTS of band and choir kids there and just overall big crowds. It was our last day so we had done the big rides and focused on the less-busy activities. That went well.

We were also there last week for my daughter's first trip. It was wonderful!!! We walked on to every ride Wednesday and Thursday. Friday was a little busier and then Saturday seemed pretty busy. We had a great time though. Stayed at Paradise Pier and it was great too.

Aloha!

We were there Friday and Saturday (5/7 & 5/8) too. In fact, DD12 was there for her middle school band & choir competition (though we didn't happen to see her all day long!). Glad to hear they were well behaved. I think the fact that they were representing their schools (and wearing the school t-shirts) along with the threat of being benched at DL kept them in line.

The weather was perfect! It seemed crowded, but a lot of the rides were under 10 minuntes wait. The big "E" ticket rides had 40 minute waits or longer. I think the closure of Big Thunder made for lines at other rides to be longer.

The walls were still up around Cafe Orleans Friday when we were there. It didnt change the experience for me. I was worried about the walls up before we went. The wall around ROA were down by then too and that would have been more of a factor to me.

Ok the Disneyland spiral has begun for me as I knew it would. I am now planning on going in Oct for my Bday with my mom, just the two of us. We were planning on going in March already for my neice and nephews first trips. Looks like I finally have a reason for an annual pass! I AM SO EXCITED!! Of course my husband thinks I am nuts...but whats new.
