Today is Friday, May 9 and we head over to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Last year we skipped this park thinking there wasn't a whole lot for DD2. This year we planned a short day at DHS, nap at the room and then P&PP in the evening. A big day!!
Our goal for the day was Me: RnR and ToT. DD: Little Mermaid and Playhouse Disney. Leave the park right after lunch.
We arrived at DHS just after 9am and I immediately separate from DH/DD and headed for ToT. The wait time shows at "13 minutes!" Love it!
Meanwhile, DH gets FP for RnR. I wanted DH to get a picture of the 13 min sign but by the time he got to it, it was already 20 minutes.
A few Photopass pics
I like this one a lot -- anyone see a resemblance?? Is she starting to look like me?? Just a little bit???
So then DH rides ToT and we head over to the Little Mermaid. I heard this can be scary for little ones and yep, DD told me she "was a little scared" of Ursula and the death scene.
Here are some photos from VoTLM.
We had it timed out (along with the rest of the theater), to go straight across to Playhouse Disney as soon as the Mermaid door's open. Although we were in the back of the PH theater, this worked out well and we only waited less than 5 minutes or so.
DH and I really had a lot of fun at this show. We knew all the words and were singing and moving around like the kids. It was a ton of fun. DD really started to get into it as she realized she knew the characters. The only bad thing was that we were under the non-working bubbles, so instead of bubbles, we got drips of soap.
Then DH rode RnR. I love this take-off.
Meanwhile, DD and I hung around and saw Goliath.
The line for Handy Manny was long, so we skipped it and got this instead.
Our philosophy on characters (at least for this trip) was "if it's a short line, go for it! Otherwise, we are not waiting." I can see this changing in future trips, if DD really starts to get into them.
Then I rode RnR and DH took DD to meet Donald Duck.
Notice how DD is really watching Donald as he signs the book!
We had about 30 minutes before our lunch ADR but the shortest time on the wait board was 20 minutes for The Great Movie Ride, so we decided to see if we could eat early. Yeah! They let us in early.
Food at Play-n-Dine was wonderful. There was a great assortment and my favorites were Teriyaki & Pineapple Chicken, Antipasto Salad and the yummy chocolate mousse. Of course there was lots of entertainment and our seat was right behind where the characters dance and interact with everyone.
We met Goliath again, then June rather fast. But waiting for Leo took a while.
Then we finished eating but still hadn't met JoJo. Now we've only watched JoJo on tv a little bit...never a full show...just that 3 minute little segment.
But in DD2's mind -- JoJo was the "big cheese"! So we probably waited another 20 minutes for her. Finally ...
This buffet was extremely noisy and fun! Definitely go if you have young kids -- stay away with teens or just adults who don't appreciate the characters.
Do you think my DD had fun?? She was smiling so much -- it made for a wonderful lunch!
One of the group dances
While eating, they sang one of the popular kid songs and DD was singing along and doing the motions
A few more photopass pictures and then down for nap by 2:45pm!!
By this time DD was not in a smiling mood. We were all tired. However, I gave her a water bottle and she tried to squirt the photopass photographer with it and that made her laugh. So we got a good pic anyway!
Aaaaahhhhhhh, it's Stitch!!!
DD having fun with Daddy
A pic of the happy couple...
I think today had some of my most favorite pictures in it -- the ones from the Play and Dine lunch. DD just had unbridled fun and laughter!
Next up: The Pirate and Princess Party!
