May 2008--Everything's Coming Up Roses -- COMPLETE

Chapter 2 - Meet Me in MK

Today is Saturday, May 3 in the evening.

We wake up around 5pm, take quick showers and head to the Magic Kingdom.

I am so excited. You know how at the start of your trip you are just bubbling over with excitement? Nothing can get you down -- not the crowds or the weather or anything. I love that feeling.

So I tried to see if I could keep that attitude the whole time. I remember reading a thread on the DIS that said something like, "there are enough threads out there complaining about kids and people and everything but why not CHOOSE to have a great vacation and show kindness to those you meet, esp the ones you want to yell at".

Then on the plane I read this article on SW magazine about how a man (let's call him Fred)was at Starbucks and he ordered his coffee and moved forward, but didn't move forward enough so that the person behind him could place his order. That person (Dave) got all upset and started honking his horn and shouting at Fred.

So what does Fred do? He tells the Starbucks person that he would like to pay for his own drink and the drink of the person behind him.

WOW!!!

Would you do that? I certainly wouldn't ever think of that!

And guess what? Dave then paid for the person behind him and so on and so on. Starbucks said that it lasted for something like 5 or 8 hours?

All because one person decided to respond with kindness to someone that was "having a bad day".

OK, so back on track. I know everyone at WDW is in a hurry and strollers are hard to negotiate and those in wheelchairs or scooters have difficulty getting around and people stop in the middle of the walkway, etc. But I'm going to TRY to not let it bother me this trip. Do I make it? Or do I bottle it all inside me and explode?;)

So we get to MK around 6pm and I call ahead to find out where my parents are. I told them to find a seat along Main Street so that when we walk by, DD will find them as a surprise. We told her that Nana and Papa would be there but didn't say where or when.

I asked DH to get a picture of DD first looking at the castle...well, she really wasn't quite impressed...but look at the kid behind my DD!!

Walking down Main Street...although I never really spend lots of time on Main Street, this walk down MS defines MK and maybe even all of WDW for me...
DSC_3082.jpg

No, not a picture of me from behind!!! Note these are the new Mickey shirts we made this year. You can also see my large green DIS Mickey on the stroller.
DSC_3084.jpg

DD is finally excited and wants to get out of the stroller!! Who does she see?? Is it Cinderella? Is it Mickey Mouse??
DSC_3086.jpg

Nope!! Even better -- it's Papa and Nana
DSC_3088.jpg

DSC_3090.jpg

So we walk further down Main Street ... doesn't everyone (including the driver) look really B_O_R_E_D in this car??? :rotfl:
DSC_3092.jpg

I love the pictures of your DD and how excited she was to see her Grandparents. The pictures are all really nice. I have always wanted to go to Disneyworld, right now your pictures will keep me happy.

Michele

Oh my goodness, that poor little one in the stroller behind you! She was the first thing I noticed! Looks like she wasn't having a good day.

Your shirts look fantastic, and I love the large DIS on your stroller!!:thumbsup2

Oh Marshay...your DD is absolutely beautiful! I'd pay good money for lips like that! ;)

So we decide to eat at the Noodle Bowl Station since it is only open from 5pm to 9pm. Food was fine for fast food Asian.

Then we get a Fastpass for Buzz Lightyear and ride TTA. My DD LOVES TTA!!
DSC_3096.jpg

There were a bunch of teens in one of the cars going in the opposite direction as us -- they shouted out "Marco!" So we responded with "Polo!" We all had a good laugh.

My DH brought along some iGlow stuff -- it's basically glow in the dark gel and really pretty cool. We put some of it in our hair and I put it on my shirt to make a MH. Here is a picture of it inside the Space Mountain part of TTA. This is with the flash
DSC_3123.jpg

And here is it glowing in the dark! Cooooooool!!
DSC_3103.jpg

Some more random pictures while on TTA:

(For those in Sharkey's thread -- this picture reminds me of what the Ghost did to the film "sit down")
DSC_3109.jpg

Just some more cool photos

Going through Space Mountain
DSC_3112.jpg

I like looking at Tomorrowland
DSC_3121.jpg

DSC_3136.jpg

DSC_3143.jpg

Gotta love these guys!
DSC_3128.jpg

I like seeing the castle and tomorrowland in the same picture -- looks like something is out of place...
DSC_3138.jpg

And my favorite Disney thing is the castle (this is a hint for something that I get later on in the trip!)
DSC_3149.jpg

Well, it's almost time for our Buzz Lightyear ride so I go to get a FastPass for Space Mountain if there are any left! We have 5 minutes before I can get another FP so I just explore the area. Then I notice that there is a long line for Space Mountain but it is not for the ride -- it's for the FASTPASS!!!

Yes, this is a new thing for me (Answer to previous quiz...). I have never stood in a line for a Fast Pass before. I may have had one or two people in front of me -- but never 15-20 people before!! Wow! I was fearful that this was an omen of how busy the parks were going to be.

So I get in line thinking that by the time my next FP is available, it'll be 5 minutes -- and sure enough it was. Also somone else handed me 5 Fastpasses for Space Mountain so I was able to play "mini CMO (Chief Magic Official) and spread the magic to others since I couldn't use all 5 of them.

Then off to ride Buzz Lightyear! I'm sure you've seen this HM while in line before...
DSC_3160.jpg

Then a quick ride on Space Mountain before the parade started. My parents were kind enough to take DD to see the parade while we rode SM.

Then we watched SpectroMagic (our only time we saw this the entire 10 days...I always like this parade)

Notice that these first characters got a face lift! They used to wear these somewhat scary white masks.
DSC_3173.jpg

I didn't know that you can see Chip & Dale's face in the piano mirror

DSC_3214.jpg

Chernobog is probably my favorite villian. He is from Night on Bald Mountain in Fantasia. I was so thrilled to see him in this parade. His wings open up and close and he looks scary!
DSC_3224.jpg

Isn't he cool!
DSC_3226.jpg

DSC_3227.jpg

Then on to Peter Pan, Pooh and Dumbo. You can ignore my look on this ride and just see how much my DD loves it!
DSC_3249.jpg

Also, Disney no longer had the Dumbo car out next to the ride. You used to be able to sit in it and take a picture as if you were on the ride. Boo!!

We got to go on Cinderella's Carousel (it would close for refurbishment the next day - May 4).
DSC_3250.jpg

DSC_3256.jpg

Then off to IASW. My DD remembers 3 of the dolls from this ride and always imitates them when we talk about them.

the cheetah whose head nods up and down
DSC_3284.jpg

the hawaiian hula dancers whose arms go up and down
DSC_3289.jpg

and the playpus who pretend to throw an egg at you (whose arms go back and forth)
DSC_3292.jpg

We stayed for the Wishes Fireworks and then we rode the ferry back to TTC (previously took the monorail over and I had ridden it in the front on prior trips).

Our parking lot was Grumpy 118 (thought of you MadBrad!).

Also, I met a Disser (KerriG) today.

Bedtime was around midnight but I really enjoyed my night.

Tomorrow we check into BCV and eat one of our "great" meals. So it's QUIZ TIME:

1. Since my parents checked into BCV studio about 5 days prior, how close will we be to them?
a) Next door
b) Across the hall
c) Same floor
d) Same building

2. Where are the best restrooms in Epcot and why do I say this?:scared: :scared:

3. I make my first purchase! What is it?
a) Garden T-shirt
b) Mickey Shovel
c) Postcards
d) Sun catcher

What kind of camera do you have? Those are some good pics!

And that shirt is sooooo neat!

and for your quiz:

1. I vote a...for good luck!
2. Hmmmm...I have no idea. Somewhere not crowded. In the baby staion?
3. I vote a...I don't know why!

Poor little girl in the stroller behind your dd

I love how excited DD was to see her grandparents:lovestruc

I never saw that hidden Mickey in que for Buzz lightyear!!!

Love your pic like the SIT DOWN., SIT DOWN picture from my thread:thumbsup2

Your expression on Dumbo is great:rotfl:

Looks like you had a great day

I like the glow in dark stuff you put on your tshirt.......how cool

Thanks for giving us an update before you leave:goodvibes

Oh, and I'm sad about the scary clown guys. I liked those creepy guys!

I love the pictures of your DD and how excited she was to see her Grandparents. The pictures are all really nice. I have always wanted to go to Disneyworld, right now your pictures will keep me happy.

Michele

Thanks -- I really liked how the camera captures her pulling her arms out b/c she wants to give nana/papa a hug!

When you get to WDW -- you'll wonder what took you so long to visit!

Oh my goodness, that poor little one in the stroller behind you! She was the first thing I noticed! Looks like she wasn't having a good day.

Your shirts look fantastic, and I love the large DIS on your stroller!!:thumbsup2

Thanks! About 1/2 way through the trip, I put the large DIS and the small DIS MH on my Baggalini. That made it quite obvious and many folks came up to say hi once they saw that! (Pics to follow)

Oh Marshay...your DD is absolutely beautiful! I'd pay good money for lips like that! ;)

Too funny! Yeah, I think she is a cutie - esp when I put her in pig tails -- oops, I mean Dumbo ears. About 3 weeks for WDW she went through this phase where we had to call her Dumbo!

What kind of camera do you have? Those are some good pics!

Camera is my DH's and he spent $$$$ on it. I'll try to ask him. All of the good pics will be on his camera! I have a Canon PowerShot SD800 IS and we get some good ones on there too but it doesn't compare to his.

One of your answers is correct!:thumbsup2

First, I will take the quiz

1. C Same Floor
2. Sunshine Seasons.........DD has an accident with her food and makes a mess on her self

3. C Post cards

am i close :teacher:

One of your answers is correct -- esp since I made it a trick question with more than one correct answer!! :lmao: You know I got to do something to keep you all jumping!

Thanks! I may be able to get one more update in tomorrow...I decided to leave on Thursday. OK, now I better get packing!

I love the pictures but I shall bow out of the questions from lack of knowledge. I love the glow in the dark polka dots.

Michele
:laundy:

great update and pics.

thankfully you were only in that hotel for one night and not the entire trip.

MK sounded like lots of fun.

I guess...

1. Since my parents checked into BCV studio about 5 days prior, how close will we be to them?

d) Same building

2. Where are the best restrooms in Epcot and why do I say this?

Hm I 'm a real newbie when it comes to Epcot. In the Land area, and because they are cleanest? :confused3

3. I make my first purchase! What is it?

c) Postcards

Love Love Love the pics. My favorite is of Chip and Dale in the piano mirror. And of course DD on the Dumbo ride. Booo! to them taking out the outside Dumbo.

Yep -- I hate to be in a place where you have to say, it was ok b/c it was cheap, esp when $65 is not really cheap.

Thank! When watching the parade I never noticed that you can see their face in the mirror.

And you got one answer correct!

I'm enjoying your trip report so far. I was wondering about Dumbo, when we went to Disneyland they had a Dumbo near the ride where you could pose for pictures and I never saw one at WDW so I just assumed they never had one. Too bad they took it out.
Can't wait to read more.:goodvibes

It was definitely there in Sept (see photos) ... maybe they are going to refurb it? Or maybe they take it out for larger crowds?!

From Sept report

Here is DD having fun

What lovely photos!! I especially liked the TTA ones. That's a family favorite!! The pictures were like riding right here at home!

Thought I'd take a stab at the questions.

1. Same floor
2. Uk, because that is mine, not sure why.
3. Suncatcher 'cause you look like a suncatcher type of girl. (that's good.):)

Hey, welcome aboard!! One of the best things about TTA -- no lines and you get to sit down!

You got one of the answers correct, which completes the question that had 2 answers to it (yeah, I'm soooo tricky :rotfl2: )

Hmmm, I have to try the UK restrooms...haven't "done" them yet! :rotfl:
