Chapter 2 - Meet Me in MK
Today is Saturday, May 3 in the evening.
We wake up around 5pm, take quick showers and head to the Magic Kingdom.
I am so excited. You know how at the start of your trip you are just bubbling over with excitement? Nothing can get you down -- not the crowds or the weather or anything. I love that feeling.
So I tried to see if I could keep that attitude the whole time. I remember reading a thread on the DIS that said something like, "there are enough threads out there complaining about kids and people and everything but why not CHOOSE to have a great vacation and show kindness to those you meet, esp the ones you want to yell at".
Then on the plane I read this article on SW magazine about how a man (let's call him Fred)was at Starbucks and he ordered his coffee and moved forward, but didn't move forward enough so that the person behind him could place his order. That person (Dave) got all upset and started honking his horn and shouting at Fred.
So what does Fred do? He tells the Starbucks person that he would like to pay for his own drink and the drink of the person behind him.
WOW!!!
Would you do that? I certainly wouldn't ever think of that!
And guess what? Dave then paid for the person behind him and so on and so on. Starbucks said that it lasted for something like 5 or 8 hours?
All because one person decided to respond with kindness to someone that was "having a bad day".
OK, so back on track. I know everyone at WDW is in a hurry and strollers are hard to negotiate and those in wheelchairs or scooters have difficulty getting around and people stop in the middle of the walkway, etc. But I'm going to TRY to not let it bother me this trip. Do I make it? Or do I bottle it all inside me and explode?
So we get to MK around 6pm and I call ahead to find out where my parents are. I told them to find a seat along Main Street so that when we walk by, DD will find them as a surprise. We told her that Nana and Papa would be there but didn't say where or when.
I asked DH to get a picture of DD first looking at the castle...well, she really wasn't quite impressed...but look at the kid behind my DD!!
Walking down Main Street...although I never really spend lots of time on Main Street, this walk down MS defines MK and maybe even all of WDW for me...
No, not a picture of me from behind!!! Note these are the new Mickey shirts we made this year. You can also see my large green DIS Mickey on the stroller.
DD is finally excited and wants to get out of the stroller!! Who does she see?? Is it Cinderella? Is it Mickey Mouse??
Nope!! Even better -- it's Papa and Nana
So we walk further down Main Street ... doesn't everyone (including the driver) look really B_O_R_E_D in this car???
