May 2008--Everything's Coming Up Roses -- COMPLETE

Gosh that is cute. Wonder Pets so funny my teenage girls love that show. :rotfl:

Now that is funny!! Really, you're teens watch it! It is a really cute show.

My favorite kids tv show is still Micky Mouse Clubhouse...I'm just so traditional in that regard...and I hate the way Mickey no longer says "See Ya Real Soon" but instead says, "thanks for stopping by!" In fact, DD, too, complains, so I have to tell her, he'll say it after all the credits are rolling..

It's funny how we got used to little things like "See Ya Real Soon" it doesn't seem the same without it. Oh yes my girls will be watching that and all the other shows come summer vacation. It is so amazing how grown up they are while still being so child like.

No (haven't eaten here yet...just got a cone to go years ago...)
No (although that is a great place, too)

You really have me stumped on this fireworks one.

Any closer??

OT -- just finished another craft project for DD.

If you remember, I made a Disney Countdown Calendar that DD at first didn't like but then was really getting into it toward the end.

So I asked her if she wanted another Countdown Calendar to count the days until her birthday. She said yes and then proceeded to tell me that she wanted it to have her new favorite characters on it (sadly, none are Disney...)

Max and Ruby (every day she asks to watch this)
Blue's Clues
Dora the Explorer
Wonder Pets

and then I threw in some of Go Diego Go, too.

Notice I remembered to start with the "high" number and end at "1" this time :rotfl2: I decided to throw in 5 extra days since I had the room.
JPEG015-2.jpg

And here are the pics -- I got them off the Noggin website except for a few pictures of DD and me/dad.

JPEG014-2.jpg

That came out great

Can i say I am so glad that DS has finally grown out of Max and Ruby. He actually started talking in one word sentences like Max for a couple of months :scared1:

I just wanted to warn you:goodvibes

The "shore" to have a good meal restaurant is in Epcot...

You missed one resort -- not the poly, contemp or FW....

Max and Ruby is an interesting show...DD is definitely starting to imitate him and as you know, it's not a good thing.

At her playschool the teacher said DD turned her head and wouldn't answer...I couldn't figure out why...then that night we watched M&R and voila -- Max did it.

At meal time we have never done the "choo choo train" or "here comes the airplane"...we always tried to keep meal time and gametime separate. So what does DD do about 5 nights ago -- makes choo choo noises as she holds the spoon up to her mouth. I asked her who taught her that...she said Max and Ruby!

Grand Floridian :thumbsup2

Yes, that max and ruby is a strong influence on the kids:scared1:

Ruby is so bossy

Where are their parents

:rotfl:

1. We eat lunch at a new place...are we 'shore' to like it?

2. DD rides Test Track and Soarin' for the first time. What is her reaction?

3. Tomorrow night is Date Night. DH and I have a habit of exploring a place and being giddy like teenagers We found a new place to watch the MK fireworks and Electrical Parade. Any guesses?

1. Cape May Cafe?:confused3 And you hated it?

2. She was indifferent?

3. Narcoossee's?
Update :cool1:

I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow at 1:15pm to remove the polyp. Assuming that everything goes well, we are on schedule for a June IVF.

I could be pregnant in 3 weeks!! (of course we wouldn't know until later...but)...this is sooooo exciting!!!!!

Marshay, I hope it goes well for you. I can only imagine how much you want this. I'm really truly praying for you.

BTW, you haven't posted your trip report on Hershey Park yet, have you? I'm going on the 16th and 17th, and I wanna see those pictures!!!!

I just uploaded my Hershey pics today...will post them and send the link.

Just another update -- some of you know from other threads...

I got a call this morning that the medical building where I'm scheduled to have my surgery today has lost all power. So just waiting now to see if they will get power and can still do my surgery or not.

Our window for starting our IVF cycle this month ends tomorrow. So we may end up getting another month to prepare!

Wow -- you just got back! I so need to check out your TR. I've been so far behind on my own...How crowded was it? Guess I'll read it in your TR.

No
Sort of
No

The crowds were not the worst I've seen. Pretty darn good actually. Except for all of those people who choose to enter the parks in the middle of the ding dang afternoon to make my park more crowded.

And of course...I bow to your scrapness!

Thanks Goofyluvr for the well-wishes...I just was notified that my surgery is canceled for today...waiting to see about tomorrow.

So the good news is that I can eat something now!!!

Love the countdown calendar. Very cute.

Hope you have good news on your surgery.

The yearly pics are awesome. Love that you got one with DD in the carrier! :thumbsup2

That's all too funny b/c I was thinking that this answer only had one answer -- but you are totally correct! It would really have more than one since next door would be the same floor and same building too! I really wasn't trying to trick anyone on this question!!:rotfl2:

it's okay...just be more careful next time! ;)

So after visiting the Neverland Garden and getting our annual photo taken at the fountain, we decide to ride Journey into your Imagination. This is a cute ride and we love to spend some time playing in the building.

HOWEVER, wouldn't you know it? As soon as we sit down in the car and it moves away, I have this very uncomfortable feeling. I won't gross anyone out with the details but let me just say that I swear I wasn't going to make it!

Which brings us to Question:
2. Where are the best restrooms in Epcot and why do I say this?:scared: :scared:

I guess something I ate at Le Cellier did not agree with me (DH thought maybe it was the "rare meat syndrome" if you know what I mean...). So I frantically ask where the bathrooms are, only to find that they are completely outside the building, around the corner and behind the building. But hardly anyone knows about these restrooms since they are tucked away -- they were super clean, tons of them (I hate the ones in Epcot that are only 3 stalls like near the McD's outpost) and empty!!

Funny sidenote: as soon as I got off the ride, I headed very quickly to the first CM I saw. She, not knowing my condition, says out loud, "my, you look so serious! You're at Disney -- smile!" When I told her I needed the restroom immediately, she was like all sorry and stuff. Guess she thought I was coming up to her to complain or something...

So if anyone ever has a  moment and you are near Journey, remember! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Afterwards we took some cool photos

Now if you remember, I played volleyball since I was in 5th grade and still do play whenever I can. So when I saw this topiary, I knew exactly what I had to do:
DSC_3397.jpg

These birds were just wonderful!
DSC_3401.jpg

DD loves Pluto! Whenever she says, "mommy, make up a story!" it has to be about Mickey and Pluto.
DSC_3402.jpg

And finally the answer to our third Question
3. I make my first purchase! What is it?
a) Garden T-shirt
b) Mickey Shovel
c) Postcards
d) Sun catcher

I wanted to send out some postcards for this trip. I foolishly thought I could find them at Wal-Mart cheaper but I guess Disney holds all the licensing agreements and doesn't sell them outside of Disney (or at least not at Wal-Mart).

Then I saw these incredibly cool sun catchers. As the wind moves them around, they catch the sunlight and look like they are neon lights. It's amazing! However, they also weren't cheap. So I decided to do my splurge item on day #1 (a mistake? I usually like to think about a souvenir...) and used some of my Disney Visa Rewards on this. Now which one did I get?

DSC_3407.jpg

I got the blue and red Mickey one in the middle of the photo. As it turns out, it was the very last one and about 3 minutes after I picked it up and was still deciding if I wanted to pay $50 or so for it, someone else comes up and says they want the blue and red large Mickey -- well, that sealed it for me. No way was I putting it down and "thinking" about it.

Now it hangs outside on my deck and DD and I have a ritual that we have to touch the Mickey and say something silly like "Hi, Mickey Mouse" or "Mickey Mickey". It makes us both smile -- so it was worth it for me!

Oh, I almost forgot! I also bought DD the Epcot DVD. In Sept, I bought DD the DVD of MK and AK. We would watch these often at home to get to know the parks. So I wanted her to have the Epcot one too, now that we spent more time in Epcot!

We then rode Nemo -- DD absolutely loves this one! and then we rode the re-vamped Spaceship Earth. It was quite cute -- I like the additions.

I was thrilled that we were able to walk right on the rides so we were home by 8:45pm. Tomorrow we go to Epcot.

QUIZ TIME -- :stir: Hmmm, what can I cook up this time???

1. We eat lunch at a new place...are we 'shore' to like it?

2. DD rides Test Track and Soarin' for the first time. What is her reaction?

3. Tomorrow night is Date Night. DH and I have a habit of exploring a place and being giddy like teenagers :rolleyes1 We found a new place to watch the MK fireworks and Electrical Parade. Any guesses?

oh no! I am glad you seemed to feel better after that!

those are great pictures! I like the volleyball one!

I guessed suncatcher!

I saw those kind at the mall, we almost bought an LSU one but it was so expensive! We actually had them talked down from $40 to $30 for it, BUT that was without the twisty thing at the bottom they had it displayed with, which made it look SO much cooler!
I might have to spring for a Mickey one in WDW!! So cool!

Let's see...for your questions:

1. Coral Reef? DD loved watching the fish, but the meal was so-so

2. She was a little scared on Soarin but loved all the good smells and that made it all better. She probably didn't like the heat room in Test Track, and the speed scared her a little. But she was okay (no crying). How's that for a detailed answer?

3. Grand Floridian?

And in a bizarre twist of events, right after I finish eating breakfast, the doc's office calls me back and says my surgery is back on.:faint: But of course, since I just ate breakfast, they cannot do the surgery today.

I'm not sure whether to :rotfl2: or:furious: or:sad:

So I guess I'll just :goodvibes

Marshay I'm so sorry. What a roller coaster! :(

Marshay I'm so sorry. What a roller coaster! :(

And with a great segue like that about roller coasters -- Here's a very quick overview of Hersheypark!

www.hersheypark.com for more information.

Hersheypark has 11 roller coasters and a new waterpark area opened up last year. The newest roller coaster is called Fahrenheit and boasts:

- a 90 degree ascent for 121 ft
- a 97 degree negative drop (steepest in the entire US!)
- then inverted loops & corkscrews, Cobra element, airborne inverted S roll, airtime hills, and high speed banked curves.

Here's a link if you wish to ride it -- it was AWESOME!!!

http://www.hersheypark.com/fahrenheit/index.php

The beginning of the ride is basically going straight up a hill -- I mean you are pressed backwards so your back is parallel to the earth. If you've ever done Mission Space, you'll know what I mean. It's the same view as when the rocket takes off.

I don't have a pic of the take-off yet -- it's still on my DH's camera...will post later.

JPEG008.jpg

My DD experienced her first real roller coaster -- not a kiddie one. It's called the Trailblazer. Here's proof (she's waving at me really, she's not saying stop!)
JPEG059.jpg

Now on to something a bit calmer.

Hershey's version of the monorail
JPEG001.jpg

Getting in line for another roller coaster. Remember that this is an older amusement park (notice the grungy queue line) and oh, yeah, their child swap process is to take your child in with you on the ride and switch out at the car. This is sooooo not child friendly!!!
JPEG003.jpg

DH and BIL getting ready to ride. Meanwhile my sis and I have 2 children, all the camera gear and bags, etc, in the queue line...

JPEG006.jpg

Then we had lunch (I recommend the food court area) and off to ride my DD's favorite ride -- the Ferris Wheel.

JPEG009.jpg

Some views of the park --

JPEG013.jpg

JPEG014.jpg

JPEG040.jpg

The tall structure in the back is the famous "kissing tower". This is one of those slow rides that spin around to give you a view of the park. We didn't get on it this time but here is a pic from 2 years ago. Note the shape of the windows -- a Hershey Kiss!
JPEG041.jpg

(yes, this is my DD in 2006)

Hersheypark goes right through the town of Hershey. Note the streetlamps are in the shape of Hershey Kisses.
JPEG042.jpg

A closer look
JPEG044.jpg

Here is where all your Hershey chocolate bars are made!!!
JPEG043.jpg

Also included in your admission price is ZooAmerica. Here is a pic from the monorail.
JPEG045.jpg

Hersheypark added a whole new water park included with your admission ticket. It's called the Boardwalk. Here are some of the rides. We didn't get on the rides but did walk around the "water works" area and the "kiddie sandcastle" area. The water was a freezing temperature but DD and my nephews had a blast!

JPEG010.jpg

A dump from the water works area
JPEG020.jpg

JPEG016.jpg

Note the water park is right in the middle of all the rollercoasters, etc.
JPEG016.jpg

DD really liked some of the kiddie cars. The rides for small kids are dispersed all over the park, which is a good thing when you have varying ages in your group.

JPEG022.jpg

JPEG031.jpg

The characters at Hersheypark are different versions of their candy bars. Here is DD with her cousin and Milk Duds.
JPEG034.jpg

And I'll end with a pic of my sis and me
JPEG051.jpg

We certainly didn't have enough time to experience all of Hersheypark. It's definitely a 2 day park. Quite fun -- but I can't help to compare it to Disney and it does come up lacking...KWIM?

Hi Marshay :wave2:

I just read and got all caught up with everything. Your pics are wonderful! I love the pics at the fountain in Epcot of the different years! Sorry to hear about your "bathroom" experience :bitelip: Good to know where there is a quite clean bathroom in Epcot!

We are thinking of going to Hershey Park this summer. It's only about 4 hours from us and my brother lives in Mountville, PA which is pretty close. Thanks so much for the awesome pics and info! The pic of your DD from 2006 is ADORABLE!!!

Good luck tomorrow!
