May 2008 code watch

I know a lot of people are not happy with this offer, but we booked at rack rate and that's what we expected to pay. We were able to take advantage of the MYW with the DDP and get our park hoppers and water park fun for free. We had originally booked DDP, PH and WPF anyway. We had paid our deposit already. So we were already booked before this came along. We did not have to change anything on our reservations (King bed room, standard view at CSR) to get the deal.

In the end it dropped our total by just over $200 bucks. Were staying from May 16th-25th and they had no problem with that even though the deal was through the 22nd. I guess because we're there already it's fine. Point being we expected to pay full price and we end up saving $200 bucks and don't have to change anything, I'm happy with that!:goodvibes

You know what irks me?? It's 20 a night more at a value on weekends with the AP rate?? How is it rack rate is only 10/night more over the weekends but with an AP rate it is 20/night more than the weekdays.

When I called Disney Reservations to change my March/April reservations to take advantage of the AP rate, the weekend price I was charged was only $10 more than the weeknight price ($74/night weeknights and $84/night weekends before tax). This was different from what I found on the Passholders site. Call and check on your rates.

in case you haven't seen this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1514391 you can list your ADRs for May and they'll be added to the top of the thread (post #2 I believe). You can then see who else will be dining at the same restaurant as you at the same time.

just an idea......:surfweb:

Thanks! I hadn't seen this before and just posted mine...looks like only one of mine overlaps with somebody else -- so far!

Has anyone been able to get AP rate for May 13-16 at Cr for Magic Kingdom View in Tower.

Travel agent said it wasn't availble, but I was just wondering if anyone was able to get Ap rate for these dates in this type of room.

Thanks,
Jennifer
I got AP rate for CR, but not MK view. I took garden view. I was thrilled to get CR!

I originally booked the Pop in January for 2 adults and 2 teens with the dining package for $3106. This was with a perferred room. We are going May 6th thru the 13th. I called yesterday and was able to use the Disney Visa code and get a rate of $2806. This is with a standard room. We decided to save the $500. We may have to walk a little more at the Pop but for us, $500 is worth it.:cheer2:

I just used the AP rate this am for May 10-16th @ the POLY. Got a rate of $358 the 1st nite-a sat. and the rest @ $308. Pretty good I think;and more than payed for my AP. Hope this helps!

We Are A Group Of 16 We Were Planing On Using The Water Parks And The Hopper So This Is A Nice Savings But We We're Told We Would Have To Change From Csr To Por Does Anybody Have Any Info On This We Are Going In Early May Thanks

We are also going in early May and staying at POFQ. My travel agent contacted me on Thursday saying if we wanted the free Water Parks and More option, we would have to change resorts because it wasn't being offered for POFQ standard rooms at that time. I asked her why and she said the availability for the offer was poor because it isn't offered everywhere...she said Disney had already reached targeted occupancy levels for certain room types at certain hotels, so it wasn't going to be offered there. She asked me if I wanted to switch hotels and I said no. Yesterday morning, she emailed me saying the deal had just opened up for us. So, maybe once people cancel their reservations and there is less occupancy, the deal becomes more available? I'm not sure but that is how it was explained to me. Hope this helps!!

just got off the phone

May 20th & 21st @ AKL std for $164 a night - rack rate is $275.

I got moved with all the construction last year and this great deal just keeps making up for it. No if only we could get codes for the rest of my stay. Any clue if/when we can expect codes for the 22 - 27th.

There might not be any discounts for May 22 - 27th since that is Memorial Day weekend. Good luck though.

Agreed, most likely that weekend will be blacked-out of any codes. MLK weekend was blacked-out too. I suspect we will see more and more holiday weekends excluded from any discounts.

Our last two trips to the WL have been during this time period. Last May we came in on the Saturday before Memorial Day weekend..and left the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. We had a discounted rate for the entire week. This year we wanted to arrive on Sunday and leave the following Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. There is no public or Visa Code that gives anything off the room rate, so we were considering the AP rate as we have a trip to FW in August. Only they are pricing the days out as weekend AP, and then AP mon-Wed...and then holiday back to rack rates of some $330.00 a night from Thurs. to Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. It's NO bargain. Nothing like what we've been able to save in the past. Between the seperate pricing for weekends, and then the holiday. It doesn't pay.
Going earlier in the month is a problem as I have one in college and she's not finished by that time..and the other in high school who can't miss more than four days of school at one time. The week prior to Memorial Day was pefectly suited to us..as he had that Fri. off, and my daughter was done with college. Looks as if we aren't going. It's hard as the kids get older to get everyone together at the same time with their various schedules. I'm so annoyed that this week is now blacked out.

I am booked at the CSR, 5/15-5/20. This is my first stay at the CSR so I am excited about trying a new resort. I got an AP rate of $783.00 for my 5 nights.

If I call CRO to book a room only with an AP rate, do you have to give a AP number when you book or is that upon checkin? I have the Poly booked for May 19 with a AAA rate. Just wondered how booking would work if I don't have my AP passes yet.

The discounts have definately changed this year. They also took away an AP's priviledge of being able to book up to three rooms with the AP rate. Now it is one room per AP, kinda stinks when trying to help out family that might only get to go once every few years. I have also noticed that there are more black-out dates on the resort discounts so far this year and wonder how they'll do peak season. We don't go during peak season but I wonder if they'll black out the entire season from AP and FL resident discounts.

Just tried to get AP rate for the Poly GV in mid-May...no AP rate available. Guess I can keep calling back.

That's funny! I tried for an AP discount at either PORS or CSR two days ago and was told neither was available. He did offer POFQ and CBR. I took POFQ and will be there May 3rd-10th. I asked him if it would do any good to check back later in case someone cancelled a room at PORS. He said no, that the problem wasn't that rooms were not available at PORS, just that only a few AP rate rooms had been released for certain resorts and that PORS and CSR were not among them for my dates. However, he had plenty of rooms for the rate at POFQ and CBR.
