May 2008 code watch

Well, i had already booked my trip back in Nov for May 11 - 17th (solo trip). I called today and used the general public offer, so it ended up saving my about $50 dollars on the park hopper option, and then i gained the water parks and more option, so that in its self was another $50 bucks. In my first reservation i didnt pick the water parks and more because i was only going to the water parks for one day, and $50's seemed a little extreme to me. So bottom line, the savings on the park hopper option just paid for my P&P Party ticket, and i'm now able to go to the water parks!! :) Yipee!!! Thanks disboards for giving us this information!!

Just called WDW toll-free reservation number and changed our room-only AAA reserv. for the Poly. May 11-17 to room-only AP rate.

Read that others were getting the hard sell for meal plan, but she didn't even ask me (I didn't use the package AP code, just the FJC room-only so maybe that's why). Also read that Poly. isn't included, but it is, at least a garden-view room for our dates. Lastly, Mousesavers had posted a weekend rate higher than a weekday rate, but that's not so -- triple confirmed this.
Here's our #s for the 6 nights INCLUDING TAX in case you were told you couldn't book the Poly. AP room-only rate for through May 21st:
Rack Rate = $2,681
AAA Rate = $2424
AP Rate = $2,079 -->Savings over rack rate = $602 = 22.45% (sure liked those 40% savings in the olden days). Will more than pay for my AP and DH and kids already have non-exp.tixs from last trip. Not sure if we'll buy that dining discount card, but definitely not adding a family meal plan (DS10 and DD10 still eat off the children's menu). Good luck everyone!

So I just called and I was able to get the general public code with dining plan for 5/2 - 5/10, but only could get standard room not kind bed which we are willing to pay for and had previously booked. Oh well...we saved 383 dollars when you take off the discount and take into account now having a standard room.

I am wondering if we would save money by one of us getting an annual pass with the code that is out for May. I'll have to plug the numbers. But then again, I'm

Wooohooo!!! Called just now and booked a 9 night AP rate stay at Pop for $783 which is exactly $1 cheaper then the AAA rate for an 8 night stay :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

The only downside is now I have to find something else to do in Disney for a whole extra day :woohoo: :cloud9: :cloud9:

My AAA agent told me the same thing. She said that it is still cheaper to keep my current res and use the AAA discount rather than the Disney Visa offer. We will be at the POP May 3-11 and currently have a 9 day park hopper with standard dining. Does that sound correct?

Quick question, I booked our stay at Pop for 5 nights in May using the AP code. We're thinking about adding the DP, and I've already made our ADR's just in case. However, there's a chance that we'll have to reschedule the whole vacation depending on my husband's work demands.

If I add the DP, does that change my whole reservation category to a package, so that if we need to cancel everything, I could be hit with those cancellation fees if I don't do it soon enough before we leave?

If that's the case, how soon before we leave can I add the DP to our reservations if that's the way we decide to go? We should know for sure about 2-3 weeks before our trip if things can stay the way they are or if I have to start the planning over from scratch.

and booked May 13-16. Staying at POP!:cool1: Hope its not too busy....HA!

can't tell you about your rate but check this thread to compare to my rate:

Wow, I didn't know you could rebook a flight if it went down in price! What airline are you flying? Is this true for all airlines?:confused3

I use Southwest. They are the only ones I know that let you "change" the ressie woth out penatly. There is a whole are to it. Listen in on the podcast in my siggy for these kinds of hints  the email show on 2-12 talked about SW's deals, click on email show here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-podcast/archives.htm

WHAT GENERAL PUBLIC OFFER? WHEN DID THIS COME OUT. I'M SO CONFUSED!:confused3

This was an offer that 1st went to Disney Visa card holders and then opened to the general public today. For free upgrade of Hopper and waterpark-DisneyQuest. I have 9 park days so my saving is good, it would depend how many days, people ect. for your trip to see if its a better deal for you than another discount. But right now, that is all that they had for discounts for me, better than nothing, saved me about 120.

Not sure, are you going from room only? or did you do room and park tix which is a package? I know for me I have room and tix and can add the dining no extra charge up till a week before arrival, I asked today.

After calling this morning an not getting anywhere with the CM-was only offering a $7 difference from my AAA to the Fl Rest. Discount and switching from POP to ASMovie not worth it I told him. I called back and was offered a $30 difference if I changed my dates from May 9th-11th to May 14th-16th and still stay at POP so that's almost a dinner out for DH and I so I took it.

Read your post and just thought I 'd let you know the price differance is most likely due to day of the week booked. Disney changed their prices in what they charge. I haven't figured it completely out because it's not standard for all resorts and different times of the year also, but they typically changed to Sun - Thur is the best rate, Fri a step up and Sat the highest rate.

So if you go for 7 days you will be charged for the cheapest to the highest. If you want to skip a day it would be Sat, because they charge the most money for staying that night. But when I was planning, I just couldn't justify loosing the savings you would get from one more day of park ticket for say $1 vs maybe $30 more to stay the 7th day.:woohoo:

So I guess for anyone who hasn't figured this out yet it is something to think about when you are crunching numbers. Unless of course you don't have much flexibility!

Hi,
I think I've seen min. 3 nights posted for the MYW hopper/water upgrade, but I thought somewhere I saw 5 night min.

I have the disney visa, so it doesn't matter whether I use public code or visa code, but I can only apply the upgrade if 3 nights is confirmed.

We are doing 3 nights Pop and 3 nights (dvc) Old Key West, so please tell me I can apply the upgrade for the 3 nights at pop (and then I'll get 6 or 7 day tickets).

Thanks!!

Mary

It would depend on how many in your party and how many nights. For a party of 2 you would save a fixed $ off your package with the Visa offer but with AAA you're saving 15% off the room rate. So if you are going for 9 nights and I assume 2 of them are at the higher weekend rate AAA is saving you about $150. You are paying about $100 now for park hoppers on 2 tickets so you would loose the $150 AAA savings to go with Visa and save $100. The extra $50 or so would get you Water Park and More on 2 tickets.

If you book AP with DP it IS a package and subject to those cancelation fees. I think it is $50 from 44 to 5 days out and $100 less than 5 days.

The problem with waiting is it might not be available. You can NOT just add DP to your existing reservation. You need to book a new reservation that is a package.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help. There will be 2 adults and one 2 yr old on our res. We booked the whole thing - POP and 9 day park hopper tickets. I think you may be correct though, becuase we would lose the 15% AAA disount and by the sounds of it, that is currently saving me just a little more than the Visa offer would.
Thanks

It's room only right now. We only live 4 hours away, so I invested in an annual pass this year. :)

You know what irks me?? It's 20 a night more at a value on weekends with the AP rate?? How is it rack rate is only 10/night more over the weekends but with an AP rate it is 20/night more than the weekdays.

I think that is crap, it should be equal.

Hi!
Sorry I didn't really notice your dates before. How did I miss that?:confused3 Guess I really need a Disney vacation.

Anyways....I'll be at Pop 5/4 to 5/10.:thumbsup2

Anybody eles disappointed in the ticket upgrade instead of a room discount.
Yep, I'm bummed by it, especially booking SIX rooms :scared1: and none of us planning to hop or get wet! :sad1:

I looked at the AP rates, too but would need to stay 5 nights before breaking even (assuming we won't return in 12 months time). Since 3 out of 6 rooms are only for 3 nights and 1 is for 4 nights it doesn't pay for those rooms. The other rooms are split stays to reduce the costs:
1 is for 6 nights - 2 nights ASMu and 4 nights AKL savannah
1 is for 7 nights - 4 nights off-site dirt cheap and 3 nights AKL std.

sooooooooooooo bummed! Still trying to figure out a cheaper way.
