May 2008 code watch

great idea! We had friends stay at the Dolphin and they loved it. Think of what you can do with the extra 1348$. If you don't have anything in mind you can donate it to my vacation fund:rotfl: :rotfl:

Well by looks of your screen name you have 2 DD's, I have 3 so I'm guessing they will eat up that $1348 pretty quickly.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi all,

One last question, how crowded is Memorial Day wkend?

According to the Unofficial Guide to WDW, it's not as crowded as Christmas....but still pretty scary.

If you buy the UG, you can access their website and look up crowd expectations for each day of your trip. It will really help you to make the most out of a peak season trip.

We went in May 2006 over Memorial Day and I don't remember it being too bad but definitely busier then early-mid May.

Well I too got sick of waiting and bit the bullet today. Made my ressie for 5/23 - 5/31 at WL, we've never stayed there and I'm actually kind of excited. According to the CM I spoke with they fully expect AP rates to be released within the next 2 weeks. The way he kept talking they will DEFINATELY be released soon. He never used the word IF he just kept say WHEN they are released just call back and we'll adjust your ressie.

Wasn't there also a Disney Visa code and then a public code released for May last year? I know we stayed at the WL..we had a pin code mailer..and then I remember calling about Disney Visa code that was released..and it was the same rate I was already paying so I didn't switch.

Yes there was and that's the one I have been waiting on. I think it had come out earlier than this last year.:confused3

Really, I seem to remember it being around the second or third week of February.

I saw it maybe on mousesavers? I'll have to double check but I want to say it was like the last week in Jan.07, but ya know I am not getting any younger.:rotfl: :rotfl:

I have 3 rms at AKL & another 3 at POR booked for 5/3-5/6... along with MYW base tix (1day) and the DDP for all 14 of us. The $200/rm deposit was paid to AAA for all 6 rms before Christmas. Insurance was also purchased from AAA for all 6 rms at the time of booking.

:surfweb: So, IF/WHEN there's a code for May, is it as easy as having my AAA TA ask for a credit (I'm sure I'll spend the difference as I'm planning a b'day dinner party for 18 ppl)? I was thinking I would definitely need to CANCEL the existing reservations and make new ones all over again (thereby losing the trip insurance I purchased).

Anyone?

I've never booked, and then had to apply a code through AAA. I do know that the number of discounts are usually limited..so you have to get on it pretty quickly. Meaning you can't be waiting days for an agent to call you back..that sort of thing. You've got to me on this like "white on rice" ;) ..so to speak. However when a reservation is made as a package through AAA, it's only the agent that can change it, you can't do it yourself. I would contact your agent now..and let them know that you want them checking for a discount code, and anticipate that there may be one for the time period you are going, and you do the same. I'm sure someone else with actual experience with booking AAA will be along to give you more info.

Hi everyone!

So I just found the watch thread....beginning to wonder what the prospects are like for a May discount code! Any words of comfort?

Joining in as well..we are looking for a May code to get one night room before we go over to BCV....last year we went on Priceline and to my surprise got the DTD Lake Buena Vista Resort for that one night but this time I'm hoping to use a code for a Disney Value instead.

Thanks for starting the thread!:goodvibes

I booked my vacation for May 6-11 earlier this week. When I booked I asked my cast member had any codes been released for that specific week (just thought I'd try). He told me that there were no codes out yet, and he said there probably wouldn't be any because it was a "black out week". I don't really know how valid his statement was becuase I booked the same vacation time last year and there was a code. I hope there will be some released soon!!!

Any idea why it's a "black out week"? We have reservations for that same week and are on the fence about whether to cancel.

Who really knows. Only reason I wonder about codes that week is because it seems most of the 40% and 20% pin codes that most have been posting show that week blacked out. May 11th is Mother's day. I wonder if they think booking will be high enough not to offer discounts? I currently have a AAA package/w dining for the 7th to the 12th. I'm looking forward to the May discounts coming out so I can see what the AP rate will be and I can caculate things and decided on the best for me. I'd gladly drop dining plan if the numbers added up better with ap room only.

Good Luck Everyone.

Like I said in my last post Mother's Day is May 11th. I don't know if that would be the reason. I'm not concerned about it being overly crowded looking at the park hours. Most nights (except for the weekend) the MK closes at 9pm

How will we find out if there's a code? We're going the last week in May.

Welcome! We'll be there that week as well. I'm guessing that codes will come out sometime this week based on last year. Watch this post at 6 am each morning... or you could get a travel agent to watch it for you.

I'm using Dreams Unlimited (sponsor of DIs Boards) and I'm very impressed with their service and best of all it's FREE.

Good luck getting an awesome rate!

:goodvibes I am also waiting for a code for May1st-6th. Here is hoping it is real soon as I am getting nervous. Shirley
