May 2008 code watch

Does anyone happen to know if AP rates apply to weekends or is it just Sun thru Thurs.?

I booked my vacation for May 6-11 earlier this week. When I booked I asked my cast member had any codes been released for that specific week (just thought I'd try). He told me that there were no codes out yet, and he said there probably wouldn't be any because it was a "black out week". I don't really know how valid his statement was becuase I booked the same vacation time last year and there was a code. I hope there will be some released soon!!!

Think the CM was just making things up. Just because nothing's been released yet has nothing to do with what will be released. We're going May 11-17, not a particularly busy time (Mother's Day being the 11th is a non-issue, the crowd levels are very reasonable this time of year). At this time last year, nothing was released for our dates. Time will tell, but don't lose faith now -- give it another few weeks.:wizard:

This will be my 3rd year in a row going that week. Like others have said it isn't a super busy time so I don't really believe it.

I was hoping to take my family either the week of May 12th or May 19th and I really need some type of an AP discount!!!

Can I make a ressie online, and change it if a code comes out? Or should I call and make a ressie over the phone in order to be sure I can change it if a code comes out. :confused3

I booked an AP rate for January at Pop and did get one for a Saturday night but it was higher than the Sun/Thur rate. When/if the rates come out there is a pretty good chance they will be higher for the weekend like they were in January. Hopefully we'll know by this week.

Can this wk be the BIG wk for codes/discounts?
Lets keep our fingures crossed.
This will be me this wk:surfweb:

Does anyone remember what the AP or special code rate was for May last year?

Ok thank you yes the rate is higher on weekends regardless of how you book, rack, AAA both show higher weekend rate for me. I just seem to remember not getting AP rate for fri/sat of last ressie I did back in oct.

I think today I will book off site for our May 1-10th trip. I hate to stay off site. But, I am starting to get over it. Does Disney not see that the country is slipping into recession? Seems like they would want to fill the hotels any way they could. Are they in a bubble?

I have just decided since the crowds will be smaller, we can do all our things in the parks without the magic hours. That is usually the reason I choose to stay on site. I will miss the great pools and the transportation. But, I am almost over it. I can save alot of money staying off site. Even though I will miss it.

Just read another thread that a Visa code was released, so hopefully that means more discounts are to follow!

I remember last year there was a public code offered for the same discount - not sure though if they offered it to Visa holders and then the public later like they have with free dining - anyone remember? Also I thought the one last year included the last week of May instead of ending May 21st. Still hoping for some discount as we check in on the 20th - can't even get AAA rate for the 20th - although I was able to get AAA for 21st on.

When I called earlier about the Disney visa code the CM I spoke with said they expect AP rates anytime now. So keep your eyes open they should be coming soon. I hope!
