May 2008 code watch

They just changed this year where you, the passholder, have to be in the room. Stinks, doesn't it? I think i'm right on this.

if you're talking about the 7:00 closings at MK.......i feel your pain! HOWEVER, not to give you false hope, but there's a rumor that those could be for pirate and princess parties!!! so that's a good thing! that is if you're interested in going to one. there was some speculation that it could be for grad nights, but those are scheduled for april 18, 19, 25 and 26, so i think that theory has been shot down. hopefully they'll announce next month whether or not these are pirate and princess parties!

We've never been to a P&PP. What makes them so great? We enjoyed the MNSSHP, but thought MVMCP was a nightmare the last time we went to them. However, we went to those solely to enjoy the special holiday activities. We didn't ride any rides. Our DS(15) wouldn't be into the P&P thing, so if we go to that party, it would be to try to ride more with shorter lines. Do you know, if the lines are indeed that much shorter? TIA

i haven't been to one either but i want to go, one, to see the parade (which features tinker bell.....an exciting thing for me), two, to see the fireworks (everyone says they're really good) and, three, to be able to ride some of the rides with no lines and participate in some of the cool stuff they have going on there. i'm not really interested in the candy and necklaces they give out. here's some more info for you:

Subscribing :) I'll be staying at CSR from 4/30 ~ 5/6 for the Minnie Marathon Weekend with my DD16. :dance3: :dance3:

Subbing! We haven't booked yet, but we're about 90% sure we're going to book the AKL for May 10-17. I'm hoping that a good code comes out because that is one expensive place to stay!

If you go w/ an experienced Disney TA, the advantage is that they will know the special promos & GP codes as soon as they come out and apply them to your trip. If you go on your own, by the time you find out about a code, it may be sold out.

So how does one go about finding a true experienced Disney TA who WILL know and apply promo codes quickly a trip? I'm sure if I walked into any travel agency and said I wanted to book an expensive Disney trip, they would all be "experts." However, how do I know, besides word of mouth, who the good ones are? Most everyone I know just books their own vacations online or through resorts themselves, so I wouldn't even know who to ask IRL.

WOW, I can't believe how much this thread has grown! I posted on page 2 and have not been on the boards since.I have lots of reading to catch up on. We were only planning to go to WDW for a couple of days and go to US/IOA and seaworld the rest of our vacations since were going to WDW 10 days over thanksgiving but my wonderful DH said we might as well go ahead and by annual passes since were going at least twice in 08 so that means more days at disney in may than we planned:cool1: SO now I hope they come out with AP room rates. I told my DH not to get me any christmas presents because AP is the best thing I could think of.Now let hope for some good airfair.
Laura
P.S I have a feeling that if we get the AP will go more than just twice in 08:thumbsup2

So we are going May 6th-14, if we book soon before a code is out, and then a code is released do we just call them with the code and they will take of off the end cost?

Yes..as long as your ressies match what the discount is...i.e...AP room only, Disney Visa package..etc.

But most importantly there needs to be availability with the code at that resort, for that room type, for those dates. Sometimes adjustments have to be made with your dates, resort or room type (view etc.) to make the code work for your existing ressie. The discount is by no means automatically taken off your current ressie.
It seems availability gets more limited each year. Alot of codes come out from email and postcard pins first, then sometimes to Disney Visa card holders, then finally a few days later to the general public. (See most recent release of codes).

Good luck and have a great trip:wizard:

Where does one sign up to receive the "right" emails? I signed up for something on the disney site after I ordered my free planning dvd. Is that the only source of the lucky email addys?

At the top of this page, on the right side there is a tab "discounts". Keep watching here!:goodvibes

Since I was such a GREAT "travel agent" for my DSis and her family for their trip last month, my DBil has asked me to help them with their 5/08 trip (he now has the WDW "fever" :)!!). They are hoping to stay at WL (their favorite resort) for 10 days after my DNiece and her friend get out of school 5/23 (barring no snow days :confused3 ). Here's hoping for some good discounts for everyone  !

I would recommend Dreams Unlimited. They specialize in Disney vacations and are very, very helpful. I am using them for my trip and have been extremely pleased with them so far. :)

I booked a package w/DP through an AAA agent which saved me 15% (?) on the room portion of the package. If a code comes out for May that offers free hopper and water parks and my agent applies it to my package will she add back on the 15% I saved on the room?
