May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

I called TA about the lack of documents; she stated that even if you don't have them you will be able to get on the ship. The TA advised that DCL is almost the only cruise line that has not yet went to all electronic ticketing. That being said, not certain if this is true or if the TA was just trying to get me off the phone!

I am bringing a small rolling cooler and hope that I will be able to keep some beer chilled for DH.:thumbsup2

You must have the same TA as me ! :rotfl: At least, mine told me that our docs were in. I still have to get my butt over there to pick them up and let her know how not impressed I am with her...

Anik

I am going to head north over the border and Bipity bopity boo her in the nose for you! How dare she make you sad before this magical adventure!!!
*
All will be well!

Wow!!! I am a Mouseketeer! My DH always says that I can't SHUT UP!!!

Next question....is there a fridge in the cabins and if so, will it hold a few beer and a box of wine?

I received the cruise docs. I believe they are supposed to arrive 2 weeks prior, so many of us got ours early. You might want to call DCL because the docs contain the luggage tags/stickers. I'm sure there is a contingency plan for those who don't arrive with the luggage tags.

I don't remember a fridge in the cabin, but I'm getting old and can't remember what I did last weekend. Oh yeah, we went camping. We brought a soft-sided cooler with us last cruise and the room steward kept it filled with ice the entire cruise. We asked him to fill it with ice the first day and we never had to ask again. :stitch2:

Okay guys, I have a couple of questions I know someone out there will have the answers.
Has everyone received their cruise docs yet? We will be leaving on Sunday and as of yet not received ours. I have printed off the forms on the website so is there anything else that I will need if they don't arrive in time?:confused3

We got our cruise docs last week, so we are good to go! Hopefully yours will arrive in the next couple of days.

With regards to your 2nd question....this is what the 2007 Passporter's Field Guide to the DCL has to say: "While it may be best described as a beverage cooler, there is a small refrigerator in the sitting area of your stateroom. It's cool enough to chill your drinks (roughly 55 degrees F/ 13 degrees C). It is large enough (8"dx12"wx16.5"h, or 20.3cm.x30.5cm.x50cm.) to store several bottles of water, cans of soda/beer, and a bottle of wine or champagne. It seems to work best when it's 3/4 full. There's also an ice bucket in the room and you may request ice for it." Our experience was that it did not keep the drinks cold enough but our room steward kept our ice bucket full, so that helped. I seriously doubt it would be big enough for a box of wine, since it is only 2-3 cans deep.

Do not worry about not having your documents. Just print off what is on the DCL website and have them filled out. When you get to the port, just let them know that your docs did not arrive. No big deal at all, I would give you ours....but somehow I don't think they would appreciate it...lol!:rotfl2:

I just can hardly wait to feel those temps pouring down on me!!!

Hey, question:

If we are going to bring a bottle of vodka, some mix(club soda)on board and some water, does anyone know if I can pack that in our suitcase? As long as it isn't too much.

I haven't brought alcohol on board so I can't speak from personal experience. This is what it says on the DCL website about alcohol:

"Alcohol is permitted onboard. However, be aware that any fragile items (including bottled alcohol) must be hand-carried on board in a day bag and/or carry-on bag, the dimensions of which cannot exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep."

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/help/overview?name=ProhibitedItemsFAQLandingPage&bhcp=1

Isn't there also an issue with unopened vs. opened? :confused3 I seem to remember reading that you can bring unopened food/beverage items onboard but not opened ones.

According to the Disney Cruise website: Alcohol is permitted onboard. However, be aware that any fragile items (including bottled alcohol) must be hand-carried on board in a day bag and/or carry-on bag, the dimensions of which cannot exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep.:thumbsup2

This may pose an issue if you plan on bringing the bottle from your home and are flying in. The TSA prohibits any liquids in hand-carried baggage greater than 3 oz. Any quantity greater than 3 oz must be in your checked baggage.

Thanks for the concern, won't be an issue for us as we will arrive 3 days ahead of time so plenty of time to hit the liquor store.

But in the past, if we are just flying to Disney, we always pack a bottle of vodka in our checked baggage, nothing has ever happened.

I have yet another question for the veteran cruisers (or those who have had over a year and a half to reasearch:lmao:, no names will be mentioned:rolleyes1).
When we go to dinner (we have late dining) how chilly do the restaurants get?
Regarding temperature, I know I read something some time ago about the cabins but now I can't find it. Does each cabin have it's own control?
Thanks in advance!:)

Aren't you a riot!!!:lmao: Isn't it funny, I have read all kinds of info including bringing alcohol on board and all of a sudden this week...........I feel like I have no idea...A year and a half down the tubes!!!

Each cabin has its own control which you can put up and down. I believe that in helping it to stay cool, keeping the curtains drawn during the day would probably help. Also, your steward should be able to help you with the climate control if you are having a problem. I hate being hot when I am getting ready in the morning and actually thought about bringing a mini-fan...that is where I think that DH would draw the line!

Laura-Thanks for the info regarding the room temps...I thought they had their own controls, but I don't always trust my memory!!
As far as all of your research going down the tubes, I think it may be possibly either a case of:

A) Your so excited, you can't jam your brain with anything else :dance3:
B) Your in desperate need of a tropical drink :cloud9:
C) You've already started hitting the rum? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

In any case, WE SAIL IN 17 DAYS!!!!!! :woohoo:

(I actually shouldn't tease, I'm trying to review what I write, and it looks like maybe I've been hitting the rum!!)

Like hitting the run is a bad thing!!!!:banana::banana:

It's 5:00 somewhere!

:lmao:I think it sounds like all of us are getting a little giddy!!! My brain has officially turned to mush! I am going to spend the next couple of days trying to organize and write out all my stuff, make a folder with all our paperwork etc., that way I don't have to lay in bed thinking about it.

As for the rum...well, that will have to wait til vacation. That is only good when mixed and served with a little umbrella! I may have to break down and open up a bottle of wine tonight...slow myself down a little.

It is all the little things that are taking up my brain power. Today it dawned on me that my epipen (I have severe food allergies) is out of date, and also I will be bringing my allergy injections with me (which I inject every 5 days), for which I need a letter to carry onto the plane with me. ARGH!!! Forgot all about it! I also forgot to let DCL I need a little cooler for my serum and a sharps box! That will be tomorrows job!

Well,.... we are bringing a mini-fan; mainly for the night-noise for sleeping but also for the hotter times. Of course with an inside cabin, we won't have to worry about keeping the curtains drawn.....:rotfl:

LOL!!! Aren't you across the hall from us? If I get too hot, I am knocking on your door!!:lmao:

We are getting very giddy! The fan is a great idea! I wonder if I can smuggle on in our suitcase? I tried to bring a fan camping(6 months pregnant) and DH gave me "the look". "The Look" is what I got when he thinks I have went off the deep end. Now that I mention it, I get this look a great deal,:confused3

Costumes arrived today for two of the boys. We have Captain Hook and Jack Sparrow from Pirates and Princess Night last year; the older two want creepy costumes. POTC will never look the same! Davey Jones will be on board the Magic! And this thing that looks like a sharks head.pirate:

Still waiting for the FE's and the pillow cases to arrive. Got the kids pillowcases to leave at the desk and have autographed.

I am fighting with the printer; I cannot figure out how to make a mirror image to put things on Iron On transfer paper. Any suggestions????

Work has been awful! I blew up yet another laptop today.:surfweb: They are going to call me the Black Widow of electronics:sick::sick::sick:. Laura, you may not want me to touch that new camera you got!!:rotfl2:

Have a great night everyone! Kids are groaning about something upstairs and DH is trying to watch hockey!!:dance3:

All of my best to All!! Lisa

LOL!!! Aren't you across the hall from us? If I get too hot, I am knocking on your door!!:lmao:

LOL... We are across the hall...... a floor ABOVE you.....but you are welcome anytime.

However, if you get hot I would suggest stepping out onto your balcony and enjoy the breeze......

On second thought... maybe we will knock on YOUR door.....:rotfl2:
