May 18, 2013 MAGIC EBTA - Who is with us?

We thougth about renting the tux last year but decided against it. Pat just took one suit for all of the formal and semi-formal nights with different ties. IMO I thought the formal night was a little less formal than what you normally see proabably due to packing issues. I took one black dress for those nights. Some were still really formal but I noticed a lot of people scaled it down. Casual nights were pretty casual as we didn't have room to pack dinner and day clothes so we doubled up. We didn't wear shorts to dinner but we did wear jeans and so did several others.

Welcome!!! We are Bob & Valerie, from San Francisco.

We have done the WBTA but not the EBTA, we too were hoping to do the WBTA, with a B2B on the med before. When they didn't post a WB and we read the ship most likely would be in dry dock before coming home, we decided to book the EBTA.

We loved by Gilbralter and Madeira.

Hope to get to know you before this wonderful adventure.

Val & Bob

I think you lose an hour a day for 6 days in a row on the EBTA. It's a killer. Alot of bleary eyed cruisers:idea:

Heres a link to a website where people have very kindly scanned them in....there is 14 nights worth of navigators from the WBTA in September 2010. Gives us some idea of the activities for the sea days. Me and my DB spent a happy hour or so pouring over these and trying to work out how we would fit it all in :)

Hopefully this will save you some work Heather :)

Hello! Good to see you. Hope you stay with us. We did this cruise back in May 11 and it was a great time. With my school schedule, September cruises are out of the question for me. Good to see you are doing well and still Cruising....

I was dreading the "loosing an hour" but we really didn't notice last year. Probably because I napped at the pool each day LOL. And as far as the flight goes, that was a big concern for me last year but it turned out really good because we were tired and Hannah and I slept most of the flight home because we were tired, Pat watched movies. I think if we had to fly first we would be so antsy it would seem like a never-ending flight for us. I can't imagine adjusting to an 8 hour time change in one day and setting sail. It took us 3 days to adjust once we got home from the jet-lag. I think I would rather adjust once home than while on vacation. We were all waking up at 2am raiding the fridge LOL. It was nice that we came home on Memorial day weekend last year.

I agree the "loosing an hour" was not an issue. Also, I didn't even notice the length of the flight home either. We were tired when we got home but relaxed from a nice trip. This will be a good destressing cruise.

If you can get the time off work, why not do both. I met people doing this in 2011 and their airfare worked out great. They just booked a roundtrip from Barcelona to whereever leaving in May and coming back in September. It took the bite out of the airfare cost. I am cruising over and hopefully cruising back on the Queen Elizabeth. They haven't released the 2013 schedule yet.

Welcome Tammy and Karl!!!

Karl, you missed out on a fun bunch last year! Pat and I knew we had seen you on the boards last time but thought you left for another cruise. Hope you get to go this time!

Tammy, glad to see you back! There are a few of us back from 2011.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! We're another week closer!

Thanks, I hadn't thought about booking a RT FROM Barcelona. Alot of time the RT is cheaper then a one way.

We have our TA asking about the 2013 schedule for the Queen Mary 2 to see about coming home that way. We have to decide if we want to be gone that long.

I'll update the spreadsheet today.

:goodvibes Were booked, but, it might work out too expensive, Im not sure, anybody like to say whether Dallas is worth visiting or not? We enjoyed our rcl cruise SO much last year, not sure decisions decisions.

Lynne, I hope you join our cruise.

I am sure if there are any Texans on the boards they can tell you all about Dallas. I have been there.

Instead of visiting Dallas before the cruise, about the same distance away (actually about a 100 miles closer but longer to drive from) is New Orleans. You would love New Orleans, it is so much fun. It would be a 5hours drive to Galveston. Houston, Texas is about an hour from Galveston, that is where you would fly into. We most likely will go to the Houston Space Center - since we will be there.

I was so hoping DCL would put a ship in New Orleans. If they aren't going to leave one here in California I would love to have one in NO. We can tell you some of the most fun places in NO, It has everything.

I am definitely looking at doing this. I think it is the Queen Mary that I am looking at, I may have gotten confused. I want to do a Princess cruise to the greek islands after the TA, and then fly to london and cruise back home. I know, I am crazy. LOL.

I wish I had the time (& $) - after the TA we're taking our grandson on a 3 week tour of Italy and stop in Greece to visit family. ah well - maybe someday!
