Sarah -
I will add this to events on page one with a link to this exact post if you want to keep the sign-up list updated here :)

private mojito/martini tasting classes

there has been some interest in private mojito and martini tasting classes. BY arranging a private dis class we do have the advantage of knowing our dates for tastings rather than waiting to see what is available once on onboard. This allows us to make any changes required to existing spa/dining bookings before others.

What is the Mojito tasting?
I have linked back to a previous WBTA's cruisers trip report, who gives some detail in her trip report, the beginning of this page

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=38648818&postcount=34

Please note that payment for these tastings will be charged to your room. I will need your name and cabin/stateroom number once we get the dates. I will contact those that are on the list when we have the ok if we get the required 25 people, there is a maximum of 50 but if we go over 50 we can split into 2 groups, not that i imagine this is going to happen:)

please send me a pm if you would like to sign up:thumbsup2

Hi! There have been a flurry of posts on Facebook this week concerning the necessity of cards using pin and chip technology. Apparently European credit cards have mostly all gone to a more secure technology, and there was a media report that American Visa and MasterCard credit cards would fail to work or have failed recently in shops, kiosks, and ATMs. :scared1: Concerned, I asked at our bank and they gave me the current scoop. Here is what I posted for the Facebook contingent of our cruise boards:

For all our North American friends: I met with our banking firm here in Chicago and asked about the chip in Master Card or Visa Credit Cards. After doing some sleuthing, they told me the following: Currently, in the USA, neither Visa nor Master Card has any chip technology in the works or plans. They are taking a wait and see attitude as it plays out in European banks, with possible chip introduction here in two to three years. American Express has already has had the chip technology in select cards for a couple of years; our card already has it (I wondered what that funky square was...) She assured me that US bank debit cards will continue to work in Europe, but to take care of shielding your hand when putting in the pin number both here and abroad; they sweep their ATM machines every morning for possibility of tiny cameras added overnite. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for the words of wisdom! Yes, I totally agree that it is what you make of it. We've been through many not so savory situations on vacation (sitting on the Tarmac for six hours then flying for another 13, waiting in line only to have a ride break down as we were the next to board, etc etc.) I know WDW will be amazing during the holidays. We will definitely go left. And we are all aboard the rope drop, leave at lunch, swim (well maybe not at Christmas), nap, and go back in the evening plan.

I still prefer to go during non peak times, but we had to try it once haha.

WDW is fabby doo at Christmas we have been the last 5 years.Take warm clothing and layer for the early mornings and cooler evenings. It is always the busiest time of year to visit but it is a great place to be at that time of year, enjoy ttxx. They have closed MK a times which is usually Christmas Day, so go early if you plan to visit that day,:santa:

I agree about going early on Xmas day since we were only allowed in because we were season pass holders. They were turning every one else away and people seemed pretty upset.

Can we wear t-shirts on villains night? I bought DD a villains t-shirt at the Disney store and I have one that I want to wear...are women's fitted t-shirts allowed in the dining rooms? Like with carpi's or jeans? I've only seen a few pics but the ones I did see everyone was very dressed up. :confused3

Yep!! I am going the less dressy route this time I think

Thanks for the link. Sounds like so much fun!

as someone else said - any vacation can be a trial or a triumph - depends on the attitude of the participants. A suggestion for the parks - go early, go to resort for lunch and nap, then back in the evening. Less stress, less heat, and more nap time for us adults. I would also suggest "go left". Since the bulk of the world is right handed most tend to go to the right as they enter a venue/park/event. By going left you have fewer people initially - you cross the bubble at some point, then have less towards the end. This has helped me SO much at Epcot.

I have packing lists for all types of cruises. If I may make the following suggestions. Do not pack cotton for layering. If you are someone who gets cold easily - pack one pair of silk long johns. Silk is MUCH warmer than cotton. (Something I tell everyone - when working outside in the summer - you sweat into your cotton t-shirt and stay cool, right? Well, there ain't no pixie dust that changes cotton's properties in the winter - so you sweat and get cold.) All synthetics are warmer than cotton. Silk and wool are the warmest natural fibers (the jury is still out on bamboo). So, my suggestions include:
pack one pair silk longies
pack one sweatjacket
pack one mid weight sweater
pack a windbreaker
one pair fancy shoes
one pair sneakers
one pair flip-flops
undies for every day
blouses/tops for HALF the days (I usually pack 1 for every 4 days and do laundry)
bottoms for every THIRD day.
make sure all the colors are cross compatable. This way you can wear one top with three bottoms (three outfits!). DO THE MATH...meaning figure out exactly how many outfits you need. Where possible - use accessories to alter the outfit. Use skirts and blouses for formal nights.

I hope this helps a bit - but feel free to ask more questions. I packed for one trip that was 28 day cruise(s) plus 7 days afterwards on land, in ONE checked bag and never wore the same outfit twice. During this trip I had a total of 10 Palo appearances. Made it interesting to say the least!

Thank you for the list. Love the silk pajamas idea.

You are welcome, this is just a guide that I use of course - you will make your list specific to you of course!

Actually, I was talking about long johns - thermals - made of silk. Very thin, very lightweight. I wear them throughout the year. In summer, they wick moisture away from the skin and in winter that same property keeps one warm!

here is a link to the best price I found this morning:
http://www.campmor.com/terramar-womens-silk-long-underwear-ankle-length-pants.shtml

this store has a policy like LLBean - if there is a problem with the manufacturer - they will replace the item. Even years later!

One caveat - NEVER EVER put long johns in the dryer on heat (air dry is fine) and don't use bleach, fabric softener or other similar products. The reason long johns work is that the fibers have tiny pockets. A dryer collapses those pockets and softeners will cause the fibers to be sticky and flatten.

I have been wearing some of mine for over 10 years and they work well! Silk costs a lot, so I tend to take care of it - and it takes care of me!

Cayla

(my experience is from working outdoors for the last 28 years, wilderness camping, and white water rafting guide in upstate NY with the water being about 20 degrees usually).

Thank you for the recommendation, Cayla! I have ordered from Campmor several times, and I've been pleased with their products and service. I ordered the silk top, pants, and glove liners, as well as hiking socks and liners (not silk).

I buy lots of stuff like this from Sierra Trading Post. Great prices, plus I always have an extra 25% off or some other deal. I love my Terramar silks. I use them for snowboarding. Much more comfortable than regular long johns.

I also have Patagonia (my preferred brand) long johns that are very thin and not waffly. Perfect for packing.

Hi everyone,

I've come to a bit of a difficult decision today, I'm stepping away from this thread. I don't want to start anything else again but having read what was said over the weekend and what I've heard about what happened on FB a while back it is just a decision I have come too. I'm sorry to do this as I know I was arranging the PJ breakfast and pin trading events which I was SO excited about but my heart is not in anymore. I've been thinking about this since I read the posts from the weekend and wanted to post it before binkytell gets the FE groups sorted again.

Goofynewie, if you need my access back for the events I created on the website please PM me and let me know.

Please can you also remove my name and stateroom number from all events?

Thanks very much and enjoy the cruise everyone.

Oh dear! I was out of town over the weekend and didn't bother to read the posts I missed. (I guess I'll have to do that.) I'm sorry that what was said here was so upsetting to you. You didn't say you were cancelling the cruise, so I hope to meet you on the ship.

**I just caught up on posts, and I think you are referring to a handful of posts on Friday (March 15). I was one of the posters who thought someone else's post was misunderstood. The "issue" appears to have been forgotten as everyone moved on. Please reconsider your decision to remove yourself from events.
