May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

I can ask her but I won't know until 30 days before we sail.. I think 2:00 PM or later is a safe bet for scheduling.

That's what I was thinking. If we did scavenger hunt or bunco at 1:00, if something does get scheduled, it seems to be after lunch has finished for the day and 2:00 or later... so we should be "safe" with 1:00 hopefully. :goodvibes

Bunco can go however long - one, two, three rounds - and could always be flexible with scheduling. (And making sure the CMs around us know we aren't playing for money.) Heck, my neighborhood bunco group we play for a wine bottle or toilet paper (winner, loser) and when we do chip in our dineros it goes for most buncos. hehehe.

I have some friends who will show me how to play bunco. We'll see if I can catch on!:goodvibes

Ahhhh bunco lol

A little too much alcohol at that time of day.

LOL. It *can* be played without drinking! I usually have to work after playing bunco, so my drink chose is Coke while everyone else is having wine or whatever the hostess made. Everyone just has to feel sorry for me on those nights :sad1:

Super easy to catch on! My granny is who got me started playing - she plays with her friends. Great for socialization and getting to know others. :)

I have heard a lot about it, but never played. I'm a quick learner, if you guys are willing to teach!

I added Bunco and Scavenger Hunts to calendar
Noticed we had not listed 5K for Castaway Cay so made note of that :beach:
Looked up sunrise/sunset times for cruise and posted on calendar
Since calendar was getting a little jumbled, I changed formatting that will hopefully help readability :yay:

Oh my goodness...I am a space cadet!! LOL Your post has just taught me that!!! My father is an electrical engineer...he owned his own business and taught classes at the University of Louisville. When I was younger he would pay me to type documents for him. (Great job for a kid too young to work!! :rotfl:) Anyhow he would sign them all with his name and several other letters, one set of which was CDT. His initials are CDT and he used them alot...some people called him CD, his company was called CDT and associates, all his passwords somehow included CDT...I just thought he had found a way to add them to his signature!! What a bonehead I am!! :rotfl2: It's amazing what you learn on the Disboards!!

Glad I could help solve a mystery!

Oh happy day! Two month countdown :)

Are there any updates to post one I need to make today? I will mostly be offline Tues-Sat this week so if I am quiet that is why.

private mojito/martini tasting classes

there has been some interest in private mojito and martini tasting classes. BY arranging a private dis class we do have the advantage of knowing our dates for tastings rather than waiting to see what is available once on onboard. This allows us to make any changes required to existing spa/dining bookings before others.

What is the Mojito tasting?
I have linked back to a previous WBTA's cruisers trip report, who gives some detail in her trip report, the beginning of this page

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=38648818&postcount=34

Please note that payment for these tastings will be charged to your room. I will need your name and cabin/stateroom number once we get the dates. I will contact those that are on the list when we have the ok if we get the required 25 people, there is a maximum of 50 but if we go over 50 we can split into 2 groups, not that i imagine this is going to happen:)

please send me a pm if you would like to sign up:thumbsup2

Wow so many people have signed up so quickly - you only posted this Hal an hour ago!

She was mentioned on FB as well. I think many of us read the FB page first, plus are used to having to sign up quickly or miss the event on other DCL cruises.

I probably will also sign up for martini tasting.

Oh yeah didn't think of FB - duh!

Oooh, sounds fancy! :cool2: Does that mean you write them or review them?

I don't mind being social, but not with 85 million people trying to push their way in front of my kids. We are going to brave WDW this Christmas, as we have to use our points. I'm a little scared, but I know we will love it at that time of year!
as someone else said - any vacation can be a trial or a triumph - depends on the attitude of the participants. A suggestion for the parks - go early, go to resort for lunch and nap, then back in the evening. Less stress, less heat, and more nap time for us adults. I would also suggest "go left". Since the bulk of the world is right handed most tend to go to the right as they enter a venue/park/event. By going left you have fewer people initially - you cross the bubble at some point, then have less towards the end. This has helped me SO much at Epcot.

Is there a place to find out what to pack? This is our first transatlantic cruise.
Do I need to bring ponchos?
Is it warm out to sea?
Does it get cold at sunset?
I was reading up on layering but do I start out in shorts?
Thank you for all the help. I just started reading all these threads.
Love all the information
I have packing lists for all types of cruises. If I may make the following suggestions. Do not pack cotton for layering. If you are someone who gets cold easily - pack one pair of silk long johns. Silk is MUCH warmer than cotton. (Something I tell everyone - when working outside in the summer - you sweat into your cotton t-shirt and stay cool, right? Well, there ain't no pixie dust that changes cotton's properties in the winter - so you sweat and get cold.) All synthetics are warmer than cotton. Silk and wool are the warmest natural fibers (the jury is still out on bamboo). So, my suggestions include:
pack one pair silk longies
pack one sweatjacket
pack one mid weight sweater
pack a windbreaker
one pair fancy shoes
one pair sneakers
one pair flip-flops
undies for every day
blouses/tops for HALF the days (I usually pack 1 for every 4 days and do laundry)
bottoms for every THIRD day.
make sure all the colors are cross compatable. This way you can wear one top with three bottoms (three outfits!). DO THE MATH...meaning figure out exactly how many outfits you need. Where possible - use accessories to alter the outfit. Use skirts and blouses for formal nights.

I hope this helps a bit - but feel free to ask more questions. I packed for one trip that was 28 day cruise(s) plus 7 days afterwards on land, in ONE checked bag and never wore the same outfit twice. During this trip I had a total of 10 Palo appearances. Made it interesting to say the least!

Thanks so much for the words of wisdom! Yes, I totally agree that it is what you make of it. We've been through many not so savory situations on vacation (sitting on the Tarmac for six hours then flying for another 13, waiting in line only to have a ride break down as we were the next to board, etc etc.) I know WDW will be amazing during the holidays. We will definitely go left. And we are all aboard the rope drop, leave at lunch, swim (well maybe not at Christmas), nap, and go back in the evening plan.

I still prefer to go during non peak times, but we had to try it once haha.

I have heard a lot about it, but never played. I'm a quick learner, if you guys are willing to teach!
