May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

I may have done it.

I would like to join the group, I am a beginner.... point and shoot. I got a Canon power shoot s3 two years ago for Alaska and got some great shots for what I know. My favorite was my whale tail shot, very proud of it.

Cool, I added your name to the list as well...

Eje G: Thank you for organizing the photo walks. I have a suggestion that would be a fun addition to the photo walks -- "My Best Shots."

My Best Shots allows each person to bring up to three prints of their bests photos to show others. While we are waiting for a sunrise or sunset, we can share prints, which are easier to view than displaying photos on a small camera screen. Any size print is fine (4x6, 5x7, 8x10). For those wanting to improve their photography skills, peer review is invaluable. Because the photo walk is the main emphasis, everyone must follow the three photo limit. No one wants to see 200 photos from someone's last vacation.

My Best Shots is a great tool for learning, and inspires others to get out and shoot.

Any thoughts?

Woody

My pleasure in getting things pulled together, at least this walk don't get as disastrous attendance as the Scott Kelby World Wide Photowalk that I lead here in our little town last year. ;)

Hmm the My best shot is a cool idea. Of course if the pictures are on a tablet than wouldn't need to print them out since the viewing area is larger than a small 4x6 print ;)
We could possibly meet up (the once interested) just one day in the Cove Cafe and discuss photography and look at pictures and do some feedback on the images. BTW if your or anyone else is on Twitter (or G+) every week there is a #PhotographyChat being held Wed 3pm EST. Generally there are 5 questions on the topic of the day, than there are 5 photos for a feedback session. It's open for anyone and there are numerous really good photographers partaking in the chat, some are pro but most are not pro's in the sense they make a full time living of it but non the less doesn't mean that they are not great ;) The chat is trying to get the Photography Chat G+ community involved as a alternative medium. (btw I'm one of the co-hosts)

So great suggestions there..

I am happy for the 20th for sunrise/early session as that is the CC day isn't it? Happy to do even 3 walks, sunrise, sunset and maybe even night?

This is becoming more popular then I thought when I first suggested it :goodvibes

Is it really bad I want to do ALL of the tastings?? :rotfl:

You will never stop wanting lenses or other accessories.....I could sit here and spend £10,000 on camera equipment in a heartbeat and not have half the stuff I want.

I think 20th would be great for a sunrise/early session. I will put that down as one of the walks times. Will figure out where approximately we will be and what time sunrise is for that day and post the date and time.

Sure getting popular, hope you don't mind me taking the stick and running with it and getting things moving.

ALL of the tastings.. uhm no, guess we will be seeing a lot of each others than ;)

Uhm. I could probably spend that money on a single lens.. :P 600mm f/4 or the 400mm f/2.8 OOps... Expensive hobby for sure (my other hobby/passion is Corvette's ;) )

My first car when I was 16 was a 62 corvette with red interior.

I added Photo Walk to list of events in Post # 1 along with event organizer and link to specific post for details that will be kept updated.

About to run an errand but will go back through the thread later from the past few days to make sure I didn't miss any other updates :goodvibes

Thanks Mandy appreciate it very much.

Not a problem! I also added sunrise Photo Walk to the first post as well :thumbsup2

Hey there! Any homeschoolers headed out on the 2013 EBTA?

Hello! :goodvibes I would not be surprised at all if there are --- we had several on our WBTA previously. I have also been telling several homeschool families I work with about this cruise - hoping some will be able to join. Are you going to be on the cruise? We have a new rollcall link updated on post #1 of this thread.

Hi there,

I have a great memory of the kids sitting up on 10 deck forward to midships when various kids were supervised by Youth Activities doing classes, however they were all kept seperate from each other. I was lying not to far away sunbathing and I had to chuckle these kids doing schooling slap bang in the middle of the atlantic whilst everyone else was sunbathing.

Evening Everyone,

I can't help thinking that this EBTA cruise will be the quietest TA crossing DCL have ever done, certainly the WBTA's are more popular, however the lack of chat on the boards and the fact that the cruise does not depart from Port Canaveral and of course the time of year for school kids. It could good for those hoping for upgrades and easy to get spa appointments and such, however it is noticeable when you get on board.

Is anyone else thinking the same thing?

I remember that as well! In fact, one family had asked if I could tutor Algebra during the cruise (that's my normal job - tutoring middle/high school math). They ended up deciding to enjoy the cruise instead, but I was thinking "how cool" it would be to be tutoring math in the middle of the Atlantic! :thumbsup2 (Yes, nerd alert here!) By the way... March 14 is "Happy Pi Day" in honor of 3.14 pi :)

Completely agree. Considering we have a plethora of choices for Palo brunch, dinner, nursery, spa by the time we lowly silver folks could book things - very different from WBTA. Cabanas were all gone, but that was the only thing I noticed. Several have dropped off the rollcall around PIF date.

I don't think it's a bad thing at all. We already have had one blow-up a couple of months back, and those on Facebook and DISboards seem such a great group now. :cheer2: I hope the cruise is not quite full and that everyone has space to stretch out! THis is our first TA and now I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you! :grouphug:

I need to change the hotel in Barcelona. I mistakenly put the address, not the name of the hotel on the new page!

I don't think Stevie was implying it would be bad... just quiet in comparison to the WBTA cruises he has been on with DCL. Compared to the one we were on, yes, this EBTA is definitely quiet in comparison, and also quiet in comparison to WBTA 2014 thread/FB. With fewer people onboard our EBTA, hopefully the kiddos will have even more attention from CMs and characters, adults have more room to spread out, and the upgrade fairy is placing pixie dust upon many who booked GTY cabins. :goodvibes It's a really nice thing to walk around on Castaway Cay and have a plethora of choices of lounge chairs or hammocks to choose from :beach:
