May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

Hello all, this is my first post. I have been reading for a few days now. Wow, you guys are organized, this is unbelievable! Thanks for all of the great info. This will be my families second Disney cruise, we were on the Fantasy last May. We will be traveling with our 3 year old son and 5 year old daughter. My husband is a little concerned about being "disconnected" from his office while crossing the Atlantic. Does anyone know if there are satellite type phones that can be used when there is no cell service?

Personally I'm looking forward to being "disconnected" from the office for 2 weeks!

Whoop whoop! I totally cannot WAIT to put my vacation reply that includes "...traveling internationally so I will have no access to voice mail or email..."

YESSSSSS!:yay:

:dance3: THank you for organizing it!

 Yay!! Thank you so much for organizing this!! It's always a task to gather reservation numbers, names, etc etc etc to send to DCL for these sort of events. Thank you!!

You are very welcomed. It was pretty easy. I just hope I didn't come off like a nag when requesting everyone's final information. :rotfl: We should get confirmation around April 18th.

No nag at all. When you have to have a minimum number per group and everyone is relying on each other to make it work, then go dig up your DCL Reservation number, just sometimes need that extra nudge to get everything together. :goodvibes

I really appreciate you doing this. It is one of my favorite memories from before. :grouphug:

Thanks, we are having a night away for my birthday in a couple of weeks and doing two Stately homes over the two days. Looking forward to really trying it!

Well it is a Nikon camera :P

I love the phone camera pic! That rippling sky is beautiful - nice job!

Nice, night aways are always nice... Of course it's a Nikon ;)
Thanks on the phone camera pic.

I'm happy to do a couple. Love the idea of sunset shots, especially on a normal night when nothing is on. We are in the late dining........

Sounds good to me.
Looks like for evening we are looking at
20, 22, 23, 26 or 27. Those are all sea days and don't look like there is any specific evening ship activities nor Dis board evening activities.
I *think* we are late dinner (or maybe this was the cruise we where on waiting list for late dinner), I think DW wouldn't be to upset on me for missing or being late or leaving early.

I am happy to go with morning or evening - or both! We are on late dining but I would happily miss the MDR one night to participate if necessary.

Thanks for sorting us out!

If we do a early AM one I would think maybe do it early on, I tend to get lazier later the longer the cruize gone but of course part of the problem I stay up to late and drink to much so get harder and harder to get going in the AM ... LOL

The 19th is PJ breakfast, MIGHT be a idea of doing it that AM since some of you might be up early already ;) otherwise my vote for a sunrise/early session would be the 20th.

When you come up with a date/time/location to meet, just let me know and I can add to the first post - calendar :goodvibes

We will do that..

My grandson (8) told his teacher that he had to leave school a few days early to start his study-abroad program.

No worries! I think we're all really happy taht you're taking care of it. Nag away!

I'd say probably on a fairly early sea day. The best times probably would be early am or late afternoon for outdoor shoots (best light, want to avoid that harsh noon light) but I'm not a early riser so not to early LOL..
I would say we probably want to figure about an hours worth of time, maybe if we do it in the afternoon with time for a few sea sunset pictures. But part of that will also depend on when people have dinner (early or late, the early will be finishing theirs when sun sets I think). Or we can have a couple of them one for interior which is best any time really and another for exterior with good light.

So are you talking about a photowalk on board (as sea) - If so I'd be up for that. I'll be taking load anyway - Here's my a sampling of pics I took on Fantasy last May

Of course they will not show anything that is not Disney owned but they own a lot. Last year saw War horse and a few other more PG-13 and up rated movies.
They were showing Lincoln on Dream in Jan when I was onboard and I believe this is Dreamworks SKG

The more the merrier.. Keep an eye on the board here... Some very nice pictures there on flickr. Added you as a contact
Can find some of my Cruise pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/macahanc6r/sets/72157631748282233/
For some reason I not uploaded a lot from onboard the ships... Going to fix that this time around. ;)

Right but don't forget that Dreamworks have a distribution deal with Disney so that explains it (I saw Warhorse last year on a cruise it's actually not a Disney movie but rather a Dreamworks movie but one of the one in the distribution deal).

We are awaiting the Villains Night and other special entertainment onboard dates from DCL (should know at 30 days out we hope like last time). DCL has only given us the ones we posted. I think DIS Pub Crawl will be arranging the date around the other hard ticket tastings (mixology, if Champagne Girls makes, etc) - but the tastings are normally in early afternoon. You might want to hang tight possibly until we get those dates from Disney when they release the special entertainment that will be onboard.

With early mornings -- keep in mind the time change moving forward each day. From reading previous EBTA trip reports, it got to where there were fewer and fewer people making it to breakfast by the end of the crossing --- might give you good chances for less people being around because they are night-night still :) or might be something to watch out for in case folks here are night night yourself ;)

We do enjoy movies on cruises. I also saw Lincoln on the Dream in January! Is Disney Nature coming out with a film this Earth Day?

Bobbi:goodvibes

Good points on the special entertainment dates. Didn't think about that.

For early mornings uhm personally I'll be one of those that are night night and will not make it up, double so due to staying up to late (drinking) but certainly TZ change will not help AT ALL.. LOL.. Why I suggest early date if we would do a AM walk ;) But that is just me.. I might be able to make an exception for one morning ;)

Just reconfirmed the formal, semi-formal and Pirate night dates with DCL. They are still the same that we were told previously. Any other dates or special onboard entertainment being brought onboard has not been released yet. She said to check back in April. :thumbsup2

Hopefully around then we start getting confirmations of private tastings, Palo group brunches, Champagne Girls, etc to populate the calendar with, and also start hearing more of the special nights onboard. We knew them prior to our WBTA, which definitely helped planning purposes of all events. :goodvibes

One more thing I need to keep on my radar so I don't miss it again this time.... Dessert Gala!! That's the whole reason we are walking on deck four each morning, right?!?!?

Here's a former EBTA Desert Gala pics... forewarning: you will gain weight by looking at these!

Oh - Alfred and Seymour -- someone had reported communicating with them, and they would be onboard. However, their website tour dates aren't making sense (Magic with a Florida departure in June ? ).

The other question is if Charo will be onboard again.

Or what other special entertainment will be brought onboard... :) Shall we just send DCL a request list? ;)

:cheer2::cheer2: Just sent in the Palo Group Brunch Requests!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Now it's just the "hurry up and wait" for confirmation of the requests. ;)

Just FYI --- I updated post #1 with those requested dates :thumbsup2
