~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
Wow -- can't believe you are just now reading them. In an odd way, I am jealous! They are so amazing. I am re-reading them now (2nd time) and am on the 4th. Amanda is right -- Midnight Sun, wow, what an amazing read but wait until you are done with the 4. They are GREAT GREAT books and yes, Cinda, very very addictive. I have yet to see the movie but will probably NetFlix it for next weekend. We will definitely discuss on the ship!
Mati - I totally agree about being a bit jealous! I loved it when a friend from work got hooked because she would come up to me after sneaking :rolleyes1 in a chapter a lunch. It was ALWAYS an OMG expression on her face & a 20 min fallow up conversation. She was on book 1 when I was on book 3 and I was always busting to tell her too much!
:rotfl:Do I hear a DIS Twilight discussion group forming for a poolside chat? lol:rotfl:
Sonya - You'll have to read all 4 because it gets a little blurry as to what happened when & if we start talking about it we may blab! :hyper2:
Agreed -- Sonya honey, READ up!!!!! We want you ALL done on the ship PLUS we DON'T want your nose in a book the whole time either and all four books are hard to put down, not just the first.
I need to go to Stephanie Meyer's website and read the extra short stories! Oh my...didn't know they existed!!!!
Ok, speaking of which -- need to go read more of Book 4 (again). :)
I would love to discuss Twilight with others. My group at work really isn't into the books so talking with others about it would be fun.
I love Edward, but totally feel for Jacob....:rolleyes1
Hi everyone
Has anyone read Twilight?! I am half way through it and completely addicted!! Is it wrong to be in love with a human-eating book character?! Anyway, am thinkong of buying the sequels for on vacation . . . are they any good?
YES,YES,YES..... I do have to say New moon was a little bit better than twilight in my opinion. Buy them bring them but be aware that you will not want to put it down. You might miss out on the fun on the cruise..:). I lust let twilight and new moon to my friend and she is addicted. I am going to pick up eclipse when I go to Borders. Such a good and easy read and Edward... vampire or not yummmy no pun intended:banana:
really! I had a hard time with New Moon. I liked it, but most of the time i was just.... oops.. can't say. Not going to spoil it.
You all are quite the readers. I've never been much into reading although I wish I was, I mostly stick to magazines!
I would think we will be at the terminal between 10 and 10:30. Have any of you been there before 10? If you get there early can you still park in the lots? Do they make you wait outside until 10 before you can go in the terminals? I can't remember a thing from the cruise 8 years ago about checking in!
Lynsey - Dempsey rides dirt bikes and races Supercross/Motocross. He has always had a Kawasaki but switched to Honda a few years ago!
It looks like the men on the cruise will have something to "bond" over, I don't think my hubby will have a problem through. Where I'm more "reserved" around people I don't know well he is very outgoing. I always say that he can strike up a conversation with a rock. :rotfl:
the TA saying we could drop the cat 11 for a cat 12 gty and take any chances with it. any thoughts on this, any one had a similar experience? thanks
Wow, that's crazy you got your stateroom assigned so early. I guess if you take your chances with a gty 12 and don't get upgraded it wouldn't be that much difference between an 11 or 12, but you would have a chance to get higher. Hmmm, I really don't know!
Speaking of the bands, They arrived yesterday. I'll try to post a photo soon! They look good. The writing is a bit hard to read since they are not filled in, but they do GLOW! I checked!:thumbsup2
Yay! I can't wait to see them, so exciting. This is silly but I was actually thinking of year a lime green tank top I have to the terminal that day. :thumbsup2
You all are quite the readers. I've never been much into reading although I wish I was, I mostly stick to magazines!
I've never been into reading at all. I think that Twightlight was the first book that I've ever read cover to cover. I was on a bussiness trip last year when I read it after a coworker told me about it. I read the entire series in about three weeks. DH thought that I was crazy (he also thinks that about me now with this cruise). You should pick it up. Ok, enough Twighlight talk from me. I can really get carried away.
I'll send it to you via Facebook. :-) I have the movie (no the acting is not so great). I really don't like the actress because a) she is a just ok actress & b) she ALWAYS acts like she's so above doing this movie or her fans...I think someone needs to remind her that people tripped over themselves to be in her role & she needs to be a bit more appreciative of her blessings seeing how her paycheck for the next movie is like $10 mil!
Anyway... I can bring the dvd if you want me to so you can see it.
DITTO!! I can NOT stand Kirsten Stewart...don't bite the hand that feeds you $10 mil a movie!!!
I have strong opinions about the movie only because it messes up the set up for the 2nd book/movie. You can read my rant on my Facebook in my notes.
Just watched the movie today and burned it :rolleyes:
Wish she would continue writing Midnight Sun...but I know for a fact that she is refusing. (my friend from DL was her guide and discussed it with her)
Bummer cause it was so good..
Forget Edward......:cloud9::love:TEAM CARLISLE!!!:cloud9::love:
I want to re-read the books on the cruise for a 4th time, but they will take up too much luggage space.
Since I do have to work and be on call two weekends prior to the cruise (not including this weekend), I figure I'd better not read these books for now!
Here's a confession about my vacation reading...popcorn::
Vacation is the only time I read gossip publications (US, National Enquirer, Sun, and things of that nature)! It's like a treat for me! When we were kids, we took a 2 week roadtrip every other year for vacation. While driving very long distances, we would take turns reading the stories from the National Enquirer. Now, as an adult, I still have this "thing" for reading junk on vacation! (Probably because it's mindless, and my day to day responsibilities can be kind of heavy on the brain!)
So, I will probably pick up some magazines and maybe one book for vacation when I shop this weekend. But...it will not be a book with sequels! (On our last cruise, I took along my board review books and that made for lovely cruise reading... Being weird, I took the boards on the Thursday after we got home from the cruise. So, studying on the ship wasn't a choice!)
As for the shirt, I was thinking about doing that too. I found a Disigner who made something for Adam and I that he has agreed to wear. However, he won't wear it in any bright color (except white). So...either we wear white/gray shirts together or he wears those colors and I pick another. Decisions, decisions...:confused:
We are having two weeks in Orlando first, so fly out on May 2nd. Thats only 2 weeks away . . . I feel faint!
WooHoo! You are getting close!
OK I need help!!!! :confused3
As you know we have got the Disney Med cruise booked for next August. We have never seen much of Europe, so felt this would be a great way of doing it while still getting the Disney Magic each night.
BUT, I have always wanted to see the Disney parks at Christmas. We have agreed next year will be our last holiday for a while as we really need to save up to move house, maybe have a baby etc (all those horrid grown up things!!!).
So I am now torn between the Med cruise, or Disney for 10 nights over Christmas in 2010, and then the 4 night Wonder Cruise (I know they do a special cruise on the Magic over Christmas as well, so that would also be a possibility, along with just 4 nights in the parks).
So . . . should we see Europe which isn't exactly "a dream" but will be nice and is at least something new and different for us to do whilst still being a bit Disney, or should we spend money to come to Florida again (which will be something like the 7th time in 10 years). Is it silly to spend money on the same thing again, just to see a few Christmas trees in the parks?! :confused3
My heart lies with Florida, but I do feel I should see other places!! PLUS - I like the heat, and Florida at Christams won't be that warm, will it?
Any opinions appreciated!!!!!!! :santa:
While I've never done the Med Cruise (and would love to) I have been to the parks when they are decorated for Christmas and we loved it. NOONE decorates like Disney. I would highly recommend anyone do it at least once. The only problem that we had was we went in early December and when we got home to celebrate here, we were a little let down with our own decorating efforts. Can't advice you on which you should do, but whichever you choose will be fantastic.
Hi Everyone!
It's April 16th!!!!!! Woo-hoo!!!!!! Tax season is over! Now I can relax a little more and enjoy the planning of our cruise!
On a better note, I upgraded our cabin from a category 7 to a 6 so we now have a new cabin #-we will be in 5630 with DS's in 5629. DH & 1-DS don't know about the upgrade; it's a surprise!
I've got a lot of reading to do on this thread! Hopefully I'll be caught up in the next few days!!!! :surfweb:
Looking forward to posting more often!
Welcome back to the world of the living! I've got your cabin listed on the spreadsheet.
Hi Jane~
We've changed cabin #-we are now in 5630 (that's the FE cabin). What happens if we upgrade at the port?
Thanks for all your time & work!
I think this may happen (or at least I'm hoping it will happen to us). Lyndsay will have some space available on her navigator for possible cabin changes. I'd suggest that if you find your cabin has been changed, please let both Lyndsay and myself know. I will keep a log and post it outside of our cabin. Lyndsay will you make the changes to any navigators that you have left? Maybe we should create a logo to put on our doors to indicate that we are part of this specific FE group? Then if the logo isn't on the cabin door that we think it should be on then we can just wait to confirm the cabin number. I'll try and figure something out.
Hi, my name is Jane and I've not read any of the Twighlight books.... I feel SO left out. A couple of my co-workers have read it and talk about it all the time. I've put off reading it in order to plan the trip, work on FE, etc... now with all the conversation going on here, I may just have to pick it up. I wonder if it is available as an audio book? Then I could listen to it while I work on the FE and on the drive to/from work. Hmmm, I'll have to check out the bookstore.
Noone has mentioned the AI results. Has everyone watched it or heard about the results? I wasn't surprised by the bottom three, and ultimately pleased with the end results. Next week should be interesting.
Anyone a Survivor fan?
J
Should you choose NOT to read the Twilight series before the cruise, you, Lyndsay, and I can form our own support group! I'm very, very interested in them, but can't get "hooked" right now!
The idea about the door sign/magnet is a good one!
BTW I am a MAJOR Survivor fan!!! I even arranged my call schedule this whole year to NOT be on call on Thursdays since that affected my ability to watch the show.:lmao: Tonight's results are NOT what I wanted, but I won't spoil anything for you! I can talk Survivor for hours and am directly responsible for spreading my addiction throughout multiple members of the medical community...:rolleyes1
Here are some photos if the bands. Like I said, they are a bit hard to read but can't miss the color! :rotfl:
I tried to get the band flat enough so you guys could see...
DH and I are the same way!! He is so much more outgoing than I am. It takes me a little while to get the nerve up to talk to people. I'm so afarid that if I see someone from the Dis at the hotel or at the terminal that I will be too shy to approach them. Hopefully I can push myself to be more outgoing on this cruise (or maybe I'll just send DH to approach everyone :rotfl:)
I LOVE Survivor!!!! I was a bit surprised by tonight's eliminations but I had a feeling that it was his/her time to go!!!
Very cute!!! BTW, I love your wedding ring!!!!
Amanda -- cute bracelets! I love your wedding ring too!!!!
Jane/Cinda -- I watch Survivor but am 2 (well, now 3) shows behind so please don't spoil it. Me and Yoni watch them on the weekends when things are slow and we want to chill but with his Mom in town, we have missed the past 2 weeks. My sister and her husband take the cast before the show starts and they draw for their own "Survivor team". Then they print it up on a sheet and tack it to the side of the fridge. As a person is voted out, they mark the person off. Whoever has the winner gets a prize they agree upon at the beginning of the season (massage, time off from the kids, etc). It is fun!
Tiffany, thanks for the links. I am in the middle of reading Breaking Dawn but will read the links as soon as I am done (probably some time tomorrow I would guess :rotfl:).
Cinda -- I love trash magazines. My favs on vacation are US and People. I get several old weeks from my big sis who subscribes to them and bring them along. I also love Oprah but this cruise, am keeping my reading light I think! :thumbsup2
Love the idea of a DIS magnet. Am hoping to take Cinda's design and do something with it.
Lynsey and Cinda, hadn't thought of the shirt thing BUT lime green is not my color so won't go that far. Cinda -- haven't tried the Dis-igners yet but Kym was telling me about them. I need to ping them for a good birthday magnet and shirt for Yoni!
Ok, back to the book (and should go to bed!)
Good night everyone!!!!
I agree the bands look great! And your rings are georgous!!!
Good to know I've got fellow Survivor fans. I was going to watch it tonight, but Jim is watching the Sharks/Ducks game so I'll have to wait till its over to see tonights episode.
I really should be working on my FE gifts, but have been cruising the threads to check out stuff for the trip...:surfweb:
