we are switched to main seating but my mom isn't yet....hopefully they will be soon as they are linked with us
It's hard, but we've gotta do what we've gotta do!Ok, so I opened a FB account and now I'm feeling totally overwhelmed. How am I supposed to keep up with BOTH the Dis and FB???
Sounds like a great idea to me!! We'll have one of our laptops with us, too.Is it possible to download the show after it's been on? I've never done that but maybe we could find some wireless connecitvity in one of the ports and download the show. Then we could have a mini-meet and all huddle around the computer.Yeah, well it's an idea.
I don't have Excel on my computer, but it let me open it anyway. I just can't make any changes to it. I think it said I only had a certain # of times I could open Excel before I'd have to buy it, so I'm limiting my acces to it!Has anyone else had any trouble opening the spreadsheet?
From what I've read on the main board, you don't both have to be there, but I think the person checking in has to have the other person's photo ID & passport or something like that. I can't remember the specifics because we didn't rent a car last time. I KNOW the info is out there somewhere, though! We'll have a rental car and he will drop me off at the dock and then return the car. Does anyone know if you both have to be present to check-in?
I'm going to try and find my list of other possible meets so we can pick & choose & come up with others, too!We are up for a meet at 3pm in the promenade lounge on the first day– is that when we will get the final list of fish extender peeps?
I sent you a friend request but forgot to tell you I'm from the DIS. Hopefully you'll recognize me! BTW, the "y'all" really depends on what part of the US you are from/live. I instantly think of the South when I hear/see it, but it's not too common in the Midwest.Facebook – I would love to be y’all’s (is that how you spell it?!![]()
) friends! I am Sonya Elizabeth Garland . . . plenty of Disney pictures on there including my Disney wedding! I just can’t wait to get some cruise ones on there as well! Just put a note on saying you are from the Dis!
I don't think so. Last time, we were 1st time cruisers, and when our booking time opened up, there wasn't much left. I booked what I could and then changed it as soon as I got onboard to exactly what I wanted. So, when they open up the remaining booking slots on the 2nd March for the non-repeat cruisers, will they release more times for Palo? I am still hoping to book a brunch! Or is booking on board my only chance now?
How far is POR from MCO? (Can you believe our family hasn't been to WDW!! I went when I was 12, but that was a LOOOOOOONG time ago!)Do you think if we leave POR at 8.30am that will give us enough time to get to the Magic for 10am? Thanks![]()
I did that twice, too! The first time was 13" after Hudson was born (and it was still to the middle of my back), and the next time was 12" after Lennon was born (that got it up to my shoulders). About a year later, my hair was back down to my waist/lower back, which is where it has been ever since. I wear it up all the time, though (twist & clip), so most people have no idea how long it is.Yes! lol. I kinda forget that sometimes. In September I donated 12 inches to locks of love.
Here's some scoop on us. We celebrated our 10th anniversary in April 2007 on the Magic, but we dated for 7 years before we even got married (I was still in high school, and DH was just out of college when we started dating). We were both born and raised right here in Grand Island, Nebraska (just under 50,000 people), and we'll probably never leave. I own a medical transcription service and work at home for the last [11] years. I also just recently signed up as a Mary Kay consultant about [8 months] ago so I can get my stuff at a discount and maybe make some money in the process. DH is 1 of 5 partners at a tool & die shop and does designing, engineering, and production of metal stamping dies, etc., and the company also designs and builds plastic injection molds. DH & his partners slowly bought out the original owners starting in 1999, and they did the last of the buyout about [3 1/2] years ago--a week after DH had a kidney removed due to cancer. (His 35th birthday present was the cancer diagnosis, but he's doing great and has had no recurrence. He's a SURVIVOR!!!) He started out sweeping the floors at the shop on weekends while he was in college and worked his way up when he was offered the incredible opportunity of the buyout. Our boys are [7 & 5]. Hudson's last day of kindergarten was yesterday [he's now a 1st grader] , and Lennon finished his MWF preschool on Wednesday [he's now in the preschool's Monday through Friday program]. They both got awards [last year] for perfect attendance at school, which is why I'm so bummed about having to take Hudson out of school for the cruise, which I thought I had planned around the last day of school, but they're extending the dismissal date a few days [this] year for some reason and have spoiled my "perfect" plan. I do a lot of activities with the kids' schools--driving for field trips, helping with special activities, room parent for holiday parties, etc., but my main "hobby" is TV. I'm an addict! Tivo is the BEST INVENTION EVER! I like to cook, too, when I have the time, and I'm pretty new to flowers. We put in landscaping about 3 years ago after we built our house, and I definitely don't have a green thumb. I can't figure out why some things aren't surviving. Maybe starlawyermom can give me some pointers! Justin is pretty busy with his hobbies. He loves music, electronics, and motorcycles. He's a DIY guy that builds almost everything that he can from his own audio equipment to a custom motorcycle that he just finished (it's sweeeeeet!). [see pics last night] Hudson's hobbies are Wii and computer games. Lennon loves his bike and his new scooter--and helping with anything he can (especially cooking with me and helping Justin in the garage). [They have also been doing a lot of sports lately--baseball/T-ball in the summer, flag football in the spring & fall, and basketball for Hudson this winter. Justin has coached every one of their teams--and they're each on different teams!]
As far as DIS meets, we haven't really set anything up for sure...except the FKLP tour in KW!! If any experienced cruisers want to toss out some ideas of what you've done in the past, we can maybe decide some of the ones that everyone has the most interest in participating in. And just because it's set up as a "DIS meet," don't feel like you have to be at every single one of them either. We kinda hit & missed the ones last time. Here's some that were set up for our group last time:
***In the terminal. Most of us arrived right at 10:00, so we had quite a bit of time to meet & greet with everyone. The photos we all posted beforehand really helped us recognize each other from across the room!!
***The Mickey Pool (for those of us with younger kids) right after embarkation. I'm sure there may have been something going on at the Goofy Pool, too, but we weren't part of that.
***3:00 in the Promenade Lounge. I forgot about this one, so we didn't attend. Oops!
***Deck 10 for the Sailaway Party. We did have trouble finding everyone, though, so there may have been several small groups of us spread out. We had just a few others DIS'ers right around us.
***All the tastings had groups in it. Justin & I didn't do the wine or martini, but we did the tequila & beer with a few different people (note to self: don't do these back to back again! Yowza!!)
***Palo? I think there was a group of people that arranged for Palo reservations at the same time/table/area, but we had our anniversary plans by ourselves, so we didn't participate in that one either.
***GC--Cap'n Marvin's stingray excursion. Our group had 3.5 families on the excursion boat.
***CC--far end of family beach.
***'Til We Meet Again (character show) in the lobby Friday night. As an impromptu meeting that was set up just hours earlier, we did end up with quite a group and probably ended up being the largest meet that I attended.
There may be other meets that we had, too, but I'll have to go back to the old cruise thread to find out for sure. Another way to meet up with other DIS'ers was to link dinner reservations for all that are early or late. We requested a specific dinner rotation (and got it) and asked to be sat with/near each other. Even though we were all linked, somehow our family still ended up at a table for 4. We did have all DIS'ers around us, so that was pretty cool, too.

After 25 pages of searching, I couldn't find you. Wanna find me first? I think I'm the only Valerie Pfenning.I have a FB page anyone want to be my friend? Jamie Hart is my name, yes there are quite a few of those on FB, my profile picture is me with two Elvises, two Elvi, two guys in Elvis coustume.
So you can watch it but can't vote?IYup!!! Only U.S. No Canadian Votes.
So you can watch it but can't vote?![]()
No way! Maybe we will get out own mini-meet in before anyone else!!!
Have you been there before?! We stayed there last year and loved it! Try the beignets for breakfast, and then wander over to Riverside for a Magic Cookie Bar for a snack - divine! (not that my whole trip is planned around food . . . but it is!!!!!!) (never look at my food review if ya'll feeling hungry . . . I can sure put the food away!!).
Just had a look at you on post 1, and you and your DH are exactly the same age as my Dh and I! You are so lucky to be renewing your vows - where are you doing that?
As of tonight we are PIF!!!! What a wonderful feeling!![]()
As for meets, 3:00 in the lounge sounds good to me. I'm hoping we'll easily be on the ship by noon, fed and watered by 2:00...
Can't wait to meet everyone!![]()
Then we could have a mini-meet and all huddle around the computer
we will be at Port Orleans Riverside for two weeks before the cruise, and are going to travel up nice and early on the Saturday! I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!![]()
I am all for the naming of our group. Maybe we should have a contest of sorts. Throw out some names people. Think, Think...

During our cruise!!!!!![]()
I'm going to try and pace myself. First check the DIS and then check FB.WOW!I don't check the boards for 24 hours and 4 pages full of AI and Facebook appear!
For those who are interested in adding, my facebook is Loucinda Dampier Sawinski. I can assure you that there aren't any other names quite like mine... We have quite a few photos on the site, and our two personal/work websites are also listed. It's a fun application, though I'm not as addicted to it as I first was! (Thankfully)
Ditto on Survivor - huge crush on Jeff the host. I'm also addicted to Biggest Loser.I'm not a big AI fan, but I LOVE Survivor! I actually take call on Wednesday nights so I'm practically guarenteed to be off every Thursday evening! I like Biggest Loser, The Girls Next Door, Dancing with the Stars, and several other "reality" shows.
I LIKE IT!A long time ago, I suggested "The Key Lime Pirates Conquer the Western Carribean," as a group name. I'm even considering using it on a FE gift (or whatever name is chosen) that I have in mind.
Deck 3 Aft (rear)3:00 works for us aswell, Ash has an appointment at the spa at 1:45 and is done by 2:40 so that should leave us with alot of time to get to the meeting spot...by "the Lounge" where is that on the ship???![]()
OK, we I have to ask you guys to make a promise not to talk about a reality show vote offs until later in the night or give me some warning like "SPOILER ALERT" being in CA we have to wait and although I'm glad crazy girl didn't make it (yet - the judges still have their pics) I want to watch the show without knowing the results. That would be soo funny, but I'd be there to watch. Crazy girl didn't get voted through night, woohoo. She could sing but she made me a nervous wreck.
Now for my other good news. Since I'm changing positions at work I am having to go to a training class and was given 5 choices of location, and guess what? Yes thats right, Disney was one of them. So from April 22 to 25th I'll be in Disney World staying at the Board Walk. I'm really looking forward to it but this will be the first time I've ever traveled solo so that will be a little akward for me and I'll have to be in seminars from 8 to 5. But it is Disney!![]()
I know I've seen something on the boards somewhere. I'll try and find it and post it.Congrats!!!One step closer!!!
