~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
when we girst started cruising we booked through DCL....now that I have researched more, we do it on our as I found most DCL excursions would not kids under 5 on excursions for insurances reasons....We left the kids on the ship in Costa Maya and we ended up running late and DH had dropped the kids off to the clubs, but failed to tell them we would be off the ship. I was frantic and the only other time was in Acapulco DD 5 did not want to get off the ship so she stayed in the club and had a blast....but they will be going on all excursions this trip.
we are getting to the 90 day mark!
DD, Haley will be 4 on 2/10 - I can't believe it - it has gone by fast!
Woke up to rain here...not good for Sunperbowl weekend! Lots of celebs are around Tampa and surrounding areas right now.
90 days? Really? Seems like it is still so far away but 90 days will fly by!
Happy Birthday to Haley! My DS turned 4 in December and so far it is turning out to be a good age. Still some "NO!"s but a lot more agreeable and fortunately "threats" actually have some meaning to him now! I know, I know, sounds terrible BUT if a threat to take away TV/Wii/Leapster has the desired effect -- well....just gotta use it!
We are having friends over for the Superbowl. Bummer on the weather. Wish we were there. Just saw on Top Chef how one of the gals got tickets -- very very cool. Some day me and DH will make it a Pro-Game. For now will have to settle for watching on TV!!!
DGD Abigail, who is going, will be 4 on 2/15. Will Haley be going to the child care? I think it is called Lab. How many costumes are being taken? Abigail has lots. Cinderella, which she is getting for her b'day, Snow White, Tinkerbell, and Jasmine. I tease my DD she will have to one suitcase for just costumes. I guess you are only young once.
wow 90 days is great - that will fly by!!!
My daughter is turning 6 when we are Key West - she is so excited. Not sure what we are doing that day.
I am going to nail down what we are doing for our excursions tomorrow when my parents come to visit - leaning toward Beach at Grand Cayman, nothing in Key West, and ruins and beach tour in Cozumel. There are so many options. I think we might ride bikes this time at Castaway Cay as well. last time we did the stingray ray and it was not that great, the water was really cloudy.
Hope you all have a great weekend!:goodvibes
:confused3 Im sorry but what is in 90 days? Our cruise leaves in 105days...Im sorry but i have missed something somewhere???:confused3
Sorry Austin77, we can book excursions when 90 days out which is coming up on Feb 15th I believe. If you had romantic escape, you can book at 105 days out. Plus Palo and spa too. 90 days is for castaway club members and I think the regular booking/first time cruiser is 75 days (I think).
My parents are going on this cruise with us so part of my excitement is because they are coming over for dinner tonight and we will decide on all of our excursions. Hope you have a great day!!
This is our first cruise as well (as a family - I have cruised before). My daughters are 7 & 8 and are absoultely thrilled with the idea of going to the kids' clubs - I am too. Hoping to read a few books and complete (!) a needlepoint project that has been kicking around way too long!!!
Hi StarLawyerMom! So much to do on the weekends...always.
For the fish extender exchange, we are in cabin 7060...I am going to see if my mom is interested in doing this as well - her cabin is across the hall from us.
Hi Starlawyermom!
My DD will be 7 on the cruise. She has started emailing with one of the boys who is going to be on the cruise and it is fun. Would your DDs be interested in a penpal before we go? PM me if so and we can share email etc. I have to give my DD's account the email address before she can receive it (security for these little ones!).
After reading a TR I am sold on the RES and want to add it NOW. Unfortunately since i booked via a travel agent, they have to add it. I emailed him -- hopefully he adds it because then we can book everything!!! Woo Hoo!!!!
I hope you guys are having a fabulous weekend!
Hey texfinn, we did the romantic escape last time on our December cruise and it was really good - the rainforest room passes, the robes, the turndown, etc. All good. Hope you enjoy it!!
Glad to hear it! My DH celebrates his 35th birthday on the cruise and wanted to do something special for him. On our previous terrible cruise I got him the birthday package and he thought it was a waste. This seems to be more the $$ and includes some things we plan on doing anyways (dinner at Palo, premium wine, bubbly when we leave) so figured with the robes and everything else, it would be worth it.
I still need to try and get him a cake on his birthday. Hopefully if I tell the server, they will take care of it....
They definitely will bring over a cake - they brought one to us at dinner for our anniversary and then boxed it up so we could take it back to our room.
I have ordered my DD who is turning 6 the birthday celebration with the banner, cake, magnets, etc. she will love that!
Happy birthday to your DH!! what a great place to have your birthday.
Hello!
Me (39), my wife Carol (?), my son Guilherme (10) and my daughter Gabriela (7) will be on this cruise. We're from Brazil and this is our first Disney cruise. We booked cat. 12 - GTY. Our primary language is portuguese, but my kids are smart and they are learning english - so do I. Nice to meet you guys!
Welcome Alberto! :cheer2:
We will also be traveling with our 7 year old daughter, Sabrina, and our 4 year old son, Kai.
Sabrina or NaNa as I call her is too smart for her own good. She is clever enough to try to talk herself out of trouble and talk me into allowing her to do what she wants. She is not a very girly girl but very sweet (just please don't tell her I said that) and very compassionate. She is enjoying her new "email account" and has started emaling with another 7 year old on the ship. She LOVES the idea of penpals so if that is something your daughter would be interested in, let me know -- I am sure NaNa would LOVE a new friend from Brazil.
So decided to book the REAS which I think lets me book things now BUUUUTTT we still have to pay off the cruisef irst I think and DH wants me to wait until Wed or Thurs (we have a lot to pay) before we do that ... so can't book anything until then right? :confused3
I hope you guys had a good weekend. Mine was spent reading trip report after trip report after trip report. I even snuck in some reading while I was prepping food during our super bowl party. This is ADDICTIVE :scared: -- does this addiction wear off? I hope so. I go to Vegas this Friday and right now all I want to take is my laptop so I can keep reading!!!!!
Any suggestions on excursions in GC with the kids? would love any suggestions!
Have a good week!
Mati
lol, nope it doesn't wear off!
Welcome to the newcomers!
Mati - you can check on the dcl site by logging in, but I am pretty sure you have to be pif before you can book Palo, etc. Do you know what day you are booking it? I am trying to ficure out the best day to do that!
